    What do all the acronyms and words mean?

    You may feel baffled by the sheer number of abbreviations and acronyms used here in MousePad. Some of the more common ones (as well as some common words) you see may include the following. You may also go to the Internet Acronym Dictionary for Internet-specific acronyms.

    -A-

    • AA - Audio-Animatronics. The robot characters in the attractions.
    • ADR - Advanced Dining Reservations, the restaurant reservation system at WDW
    • AFAIK - As far as I know
    • AFK - Away from keyboard
    • AK - Disney's Animal Kingdom park in at WDW in Orlando, Florida
    • AKL - Animal Kingdom Lodge, an on-property WDW resort hotel
    • AP - Annual Passport: Available in different levels (lower-priced APs have blockout dates; highest-priced is the premium AP)
    • APer - Annual Passholder: A person who has an AP

    • BatB - Beauty and the Beast
    • BB - Blizzard Beach, water park in WDW
    • Bears or CBJ - Country Bear Jamboree. Now only open in WDW.
    • Big Thunder - Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, an attraction in Frontierland at both DL and WDW
    • BRB - Be right back
    • BTMRR - Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, an attraction in Frontierland at both DL and WDW
    • BTW - By the way
    • BWV - Boardwalk Villas, a WDW DVC resort

    • CBR - Caribbean Beach Resort, an on-property WDW resort hotel
    • CM - cast member ("employee" in Disney-speak)
    • CoP - Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress
    • CP - Candlelight Processional, a Christmas celebration that occurs at Disneyland and Walt Disney World
    • CR - Casual Regular (type of CM, a.k.a. "C status"): Works everything that a CT does, plus all weekends. Also Grad Nites and special events in the evening, as needed. More seniority, so shifts are longer.
    • CS - Casual Seasonal (type of CM)
    • CSR - Coronado Springs Resort, an on-property WDW resort hotel
    • CT - Casual Temporary (type of CM): Works summers, Christmas, Spring Break. During these periods, usually works five days a week but generally much less than 40 hours total (short shifts)

    • D-I-G - Disneyland Information Guide, incorporated into MousePlanet site
    • DAK - Disney's Animal Kingdom park in at WDW in Orlando, Florida
    • DC - Disney Club, a discontinued discount program
    • DCA - Disney's California Adventure (Anaheim)
    • DCL - Disney Cruise Lines
    • DD - Downtown Disney (Anaheim and Orlando)
    • DEP - Disney's Electrical Parade, in DCA (formerly MSEP)
    • DHS - Disney's Hollywood Studios, formerly known as Disney-MGM Stuidos
    • DIG - Disneyland Information Guide, incorporated into MousePlanet site
    • DL - Disneyland
    • DLH - Disneyland Hotel (Anaheim)
    • DLP - Disneyland Paris
    • DLR - Disneyland Resort (primary name for the parks in Anaheim)
    • DTD - Downtown Disney (Anaheim and Orlando)
    • DVC - Disney Vacation Club - a timeshare-type, point-based vacation program

    • E-Ticket - Highest-valued ticket required for admission into the most elaborate attractions in the earlier days when each attraction required a separate ticket (instead of using an all-day pass). Now adopted into American vernacular, meaning anything worth a lot of bang for the buck. Also the name of a popular Disney fan magazine.
    • ECV - Electronic Convenience Vehicle such as Rascal scooters
    • EE - Early Entry program
    • El Cap - The El Capitan Theater in Hollywood, CA, owned by Disney and used for Disney movie premiers.
    • ELP - Main Street Electrical Parade, now known as DEP in DCA
    • EMH - Extra Magic Hours, extended hours offered at Disney Parks

    • F! - Fantasmic! show
    • Fab Five - Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto
    • FFF - Flik's Fun Fair, a new area in Disney's California Adventure park and inspired by the movie A Bug's Life
    • FP - Fastpass ticket: a free chit with a printed time that indicates the time you can go on an attraction without waiting in line
    • FWIW - For what it's worth
    • FYI - For your information

    • GAC - Guest Assistance Card: a form obtained by those with mobility issues allowing them access to alternative entrances to attractions
    • GC - Guest Control: A method of controlling crowds and traffic, such as during Fantasmic
    • GCH - Disney's Grand Californian Hotel, an on-property Disneyland Resort hotel
    • GF - Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, an on-property WDW resort hotel
    • Grad Nite - After the close of regular park hours, high school seniors are bused in to spend the entire night in the park
    • GRR - Grizzly River Run, a DCA attraction

    • Hidden Mickeys - Three-circle silhouette shape of Mickey Mouse's head camouflaged into attractions in the parks.
    • HISTA - Honey, I Shrunk the Audience, in Tomorrowland in DL at in the Imagination pavilion at Epcot in WDW
    • HM - Haunted Mansion. Note: Attraction at Disneyland and WDW's Magic Kingdom is not referred to as the "Haunted House." Also, but not often, "Hidden Mickeys."
    • HMH - Haunted Mansion Holiday, when the Haunted Mansion has a Nightmare Before Christmas layover.
    • HOB - House of Blues
    • Hub - The central hub at the end of Main Street in Disneyland. Traditional site of Sunday noon Disney discussion board meets.

    • IASW - "it's a small world" attraction in Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom in WDW
    • IIRC - If I recall correctly
    • IJA - Indiana Jones Adventure attraction in Disneyland's Adventureland
    • IMHO - In my humble opinion
    • IMNSHO - In my not-so-humble opinion
    • IMO - In my opinion
    • Indy - Indiana Jones Adventure (see IJA)
    • IRL - In real life
    • ITTBAB - It's Tough To Be A Bug, an attraction in DCA and Animal Kingdom

    • MAoWtP - Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
    • Meet - face-to-face get-together of those belonging to same Internet social circles, such as MousePlanet or MousePad
    • MGM - Disney-MGM Studios park in WDW, now known as Disney's Hollywood Studios
    • MI - MouseInfo, another Web site
    • Mickey & Friends - Mickey & Friends Parking Structure at Disneyland Resort
    • MK - Magic Kingdom. Usually refers specifically to the Magic Kingdom park in Florida's Walt Disney World, although also used generically to refer to Disneyland in California.
    • MKC - Magic Kingdom Club, a discontinued discount program that was replaced with Disney Club (also discontinued)
    • MM - Mickey Mouse
    • MP - MousePlanet (this site), or MousePad (this discussion board)
    • MS - Main Street
    • MSEP - Main Street Electrical Parade
    • MTWR - Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
    • MV3D - Jim Henson's MuppetVision X3D 4D

    • RFT - Regular Full Time (type of CM; a.k.a. "A status"). Guaranteed 40 hours of work a week
    • RnRC - Rock 'N' Roller Coaster
    • ROFL - Rolling on floor laughing
    • ROTFL - Rolling on the floor laughing
    • RPT - Regular Part Time (type of CM; a.k.a. "B status"): Works five days a week, year round. Generally a bit less than 40 hours a week, but usually over 30
    • RSR - Radiator Springs Racers, an attraction at Disney California Adventure's Cars Land

    • Sally - Sally, a primary character from Nightmare Before Christmas.
    • Screamin' - California Screamin', a roller coaster in DCA's Paradise Pier area
    • SM - Splash Mountain or Space Mountain
