DLP Suffers Long Lines After Paid ‘FastPass’ Option Debuts

Looks like there are issues with the Standby Pass system at Disneyland Paris meant to help alleviate the queues for those folks not utilizing the new Premier Access (read: the new pay-for-FastPass-type system) on busy days.

"To help mitigate the crowds in stand-by lines the Resort implemented Standby Pass. Standby Pass is a free system used on busy park days that allows Guests to select a return time for certain attractions to ride.

The purpose of Standby Pass is to ensure that busy attractions do not experience heavy crowding; however, it seems that now that Disneyland Paris has reopened, the system is not working exactly as expected."

Why is it that Disney should be surprised that when they offer a premium reservation service that essentially removes regular guest "slots" for a particular attraction that there will then be longer lines for those guests?

Why is it that Disney should then respond by instituting the old Fastpass reservation method for the regular guests that will then at least allow those guests to have the chance to get on at least a couple of the most popular attractions for their visit that day?

It is also a bit funny that Disney should offer the Premier Access "ride surcharge advance reservation process" in DLP which is located in the country that has always seemed to be the biggest champion of the common person over the centuries (and even offers reduced admission prices to such places as the Louvre for unemployed Parisians)
