We left our home in Northern Maryland around 8am. We parked at one of the offsite parking places around BWI that we have always parked at. They provide a shuttle to the airport. Our flight left on time at 11:05am and after a very smooth flight, we landed at 1:25pm. We used magical express to the Beach Club. We had not received luggage tags in the mail but magical express was still able to take care of our luggage. Now, you have automatic check in so we walked right to our room and used our Magic Bands to get into our room. I had booked a standard view room but what I received I believe was a water view room. This is the 5th time we have stayed at the Beach Club. It remains our favorite resort. It is so convenient for the Food & Wine Festival. The room was beautiful. 2 Queen beds, a center console with storage drawers and a TV. A sofa, nightstands, coffee center, closet, double sink area and bathroom with toilet and tub/shower combo. We had a balcony with a table and 2 chairs. Looking strait out the balcony was a garden view but to the left we had a very good view of the pool/lake area. The grounds are beautiful/impeccable.

It was a beautiful day. We walked into the back entrance of Epcot. It was not crowded to enter into Epcot but once you made it into World Showcase, it was moderately crowded. We turned right and went first to France. We had the Carbonade de Boeuf, the Creme Brulee and the Cabernet Sauvignon, Village La Tourelle. All excellent. Next we went to Brazil, we had the Crispy Pork Belly, the Pao De Queijo and the Quinta Do Crasto Duoro Red. The Pork Belly was very overcooked or had been sitting for a while. The cheese bread and the wine was very good. Next we went to Belgium. We had the berry waffle and the warm chocolate ganache waffle. The waffles were delicious. I had the Stella Artois Hard Cidre and my husband had the St. Bernardus ABT12 which my husband said was excellent very dark beer. In Morocco we had the chocolate Baklava and the Mimosa Royale. Either the baklava had been sitting or it just wasn't very good. It was extremely chewy. In Japan, we had the Teriyaki Chicken Bun and the Fuji Apple Cocktail. The chicken Bun was a standout. The apple cocktail was good but too sweet.

At each country, we had no problem finding a seat or table somewhere. We walked around each country, browsing the shops and sights. The World Showcase was pretty crowded, there were a lot of groups of young people. Bachelorette parties, Birthday parties. Some of the groups had matching T shirts with very funny slogans. It was a fun party atmosphere. Sheila E was at the Eat to the Beat concert.

We had FP for Frozen After Ever. I liked it, it was very well done but I miss Maelstrom. At the Mexican pavilion we rode the Gran Fiesta Tour. We got margaritas at La Cava Del Tequila.

We walked all the way around the World Showcase to where we had started and headed back to the Beach Club.

We changed into our swimsuits and went swimming at Storm Along Bay. This pool is just amazing. It is heated with sand on the bottom. It felt awesome after the long hot day. We got in the hot tub for awhile too. AMAZING. Afterwards, we checked to see if we could get a seat at Beaches & Cream for ice cream. They had a 90 minute wait at this point. Instead, we waited at the take out window and got ice cream. The ice cream was wonderful. It was after 10pm at this point, we called it a night.

Enjoying your TR so far! We are DVC members and we loved the BCV so much that we bought into on the resale market so we could be guaranteed a room during the F&W Festival! Glad you got a nice room upgrade! We can't wait to taste test at the WS in October!

Thank you! Oh how I would love to by DVC at Beach Club. Maybe when we retire! You are going to have a great time!

    Sunday September 23, 2018

We slept in a little because we knew this would be a late night.

We walked from the Beach Club to the international Gateway to the World Showcase. The countries did not open until 11am. This is a great time to take photos in the empty World Showcase. We stopped at Joffreys and got coffee. I got the pumpkin creme burlee cold brew. It was great.

Fun Fact: Did you know that you can ask for ice water at any counter service restaurant in Disney? We took a small insulated water thermos and kept it filled at all times with ice water. This was really helpful. I have a little thermos pocket on my backpack.

This time we went in the other direction towards England. First stop was Hawaii. We got the Kalua Pork Slider and the Florida Orange Groves Sparkling Pineapple Wine. Both stand outs. The pork slider was one of our favorite savory dishes. Next we went to the Islands of the Caribbean. We got the Jerk Spiced Chicken Lollipop. Another great choice. Next we went to Greece. We got the wine flight and the Bougatsa. All very good. Next we went to the Festival Center. We went to the Mimosa Bar, Shimmering Sips. The frozen mimosa was my favorite drink at the entire festival. At $6 it was less expensive than other similar options. We went to the Ghiradelli chocolate experience to see the chocolate sculptures. They also serve Rosa Regale champagne here. This is my favorite champagne and I discovered it at the 2005 Epcot Food & Wine Festival. We were having fun, there was plenty of seating and we browsed around the merchandise and wine. We explored more of Future World. We rode Living with the Land, Seas with Nemo and Friends and Spaceship Earth. I had trouble with my fastpasses. None of them were showing up in MDE app. I went to customer service and they fixed my app so that they were now showing up.

We headed out the way we came and went along one of the walkways that has many of the non country specific food booths. We first stopped at Coastal Eats and got the lump crab cake. We got both the Pinot Gris and the Pinot Noir. We are from Maryland and extremely picky about our crab cakes. I thought this was really good. Unusual food combination but it worked. Next we went to Earth Eats. We got the Steakhouse Blended Burger and the IMPOSSIBLE Burger Slider. Both were overcooked. The Steakhouse had better flavor. I also got the Beet-Lime Kombucha. It wasn't bad at all. Difficult to describe. You could definitely taste the beet but it was masked in a way that made it tasty. Probably wouldn't want a lot of it. Next we went to Active Eats. We got the Loaded Mac 'n' Cheese. You do not want to miss this one! My husband got the Spice crusted Verlasso Salmon and said it was good. One last stop at the Chocolate Studio. We got the famous Liquid Nitro Chocolate Almond truffle with my SECOND glass of Rosa Regale of the day. This is excellent. Cool and rich! I highly recommend and the Rosa is a perfect complement. We took some more pictures and headed back to the beach club for a little break.

Coming up: Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and Hallowishes Fireworks Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time walking around the WS taste testing at all the stands! I'm looking forward to trying the Liquid Nitro Chocolate this year, as last year I tried the Dark Chocolate ganache tart, which was excellent, but I was too full to eat any more desserts after that, and then forgot about it when we were in Epcot other days! It's so great to be able to walk back to your resort for a break after taste testing and drinking at F&W!

I am not able to go to the Food & Wine Festival this year, so I am living/visiting it thru you Anne! Glad you and your hubby had such a great time. Looking forward to the rest of your trip report.

Just curious, where in Maryland do you live? We lived almost thirty years near BWI (in Glen Burnie) before retiring to Michigan a few years ago.

Thank you! I thought the ganache was a little bland. The nitro was definitely the stand out. Great on a hot day too.

Aw, I'm so glad you have been liking it. I've been crazy busy the last week or so. Hoping to knock out MNSSHP today. We live in Northern Maryland not too far from the Pennsylvania line. Almost farm country.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

We took a break back at the resort then headed to the Magic Kingdom early. I had made several fast passes for before MNSSHP started so that we could take advantage of our only day at the Magic Kingdom. We rode Mine Train, Under the Sea, Winnie the Poo, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder, with the fast passes and a few we were able to get in short lines to ride. A great time to ride the rides is also between 6-7pm when the park is "closed" but people who only have tickets to MNSSHP cannot enter the ques yet. We took advantage of this and were able to get on a lot in just a few short hours. We bought some his and hers Jack Skellington hats for my daughter and her boyfriend. We ended at Fantasy Land with Peter Pan, our favorite. We went back to the front of the park to be able to experience the Halloween Party from the beginning. Everything looked great. We got our wristbands. I love the different feel the parties give to the park. We took tons of photos. We saw lots of people in costume. Some were in thick furred costumes. It was so hot outside! I'm just not that dedicated, lol! I settled for buying some Halloween sparkly orange and black Minnie ears and called it a day. There were trick or treat stations set up all around the park. We got some candy from the first one but we really weren't there for candy so we didn't bother after that. We rode IASW and the teacups had special Party lights and theming. We climbed to the top of Swiss Family Robinson. This is another favorite. Beautiful views of the sun setting up there. We had the tree house all to ourselves. Not another sole on it. We stopped for some Dole Whip. Of course you have to. We rode Pirates that had extra CMs in the que. Very fun. Line was less than 5 minutes. We went on the Haunted Mansion which was the longest line of the night. The lighting was so cool all blues, purples and green. They had extra CMs in costume having fun with people in the lines. It was a super fun atmosphere. We watched the Boo to You Halloween Parade. This is a standout! I loved it! We headed to Tomorrowland. Unfortunately Space Mountain was broken down for the night but we rode the People Mover and got to see Space Mountain with the lights on as they were repairing it. That was pretty cool. We also got on Buzz, and Astro Orbiter. We checked out the Scream-O-Ween Dance Party. This was adorable, with great music, tons of kids and we saw Sully. Hope they didn't keep that guy out in the heat for too long! But he looked great.

    TomorrowLand Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party

We checked in to the Dessert Party late about 9:15pm. You can check in as early as 8:30 but we wanted to continue riding. You get this adorable lanyard just for the party. The dessert party was great. We were hungry, tired and thirsty so it was perfect. They had many drink options; sparking cider, soft drinks, water, coffee and tea. The sparkling cider was served in champagne flutes and was so delicious and refreshing. The savory food options were a cheeseburger spring roll that was delicious, spinach dip, cheese, crackers and other dips. The dessert options was a mini version of all the specialty Halloween Party desserts from around the park which I thought was great. Worms n Dirt; Halloween Chocolate Bark; Pumpkin Cheesecake (Our favorite); Poison Apple Mini Cupcake and too many others to list here. They also had a large selection of fresh fruit. They had a smores station that was so yummy. I requested my marshmallow to be super burnt and they were happy to accommodate me. They had another huge table with cookies, brownies, rice krispie treats. They had plain cupcakes and cookies that you could decorate and eat. They had this gooey toffee trifle kind of thing that was really good. Way more than you could ever eat. It was all you care to eat. You can leave the party and get escorted to the garden plaza to watch the fireworks any time you want. We waited as long as we could because it was a nice atmosphere and it was nice to be sitting down. At about 10:05pm, we were escorted to the fenced off area, at the plaza garden where there is a reserved area for dessert party participants. The area was large and uncrowded. You could sit down on the astroturf and still have an excellent view, which we did. The fireworks started at 10:15 and they are nothing short of amazing! After the fireworks, we rode on a couple more rides in Fantasy Land (no lines at all) and the last thing we did was see the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular. Very cute!!! We were exhausted! We headed out of the park, got on the tram to the Beach Club and ended the day.

Continued Monday September 24 Epcot Food & Wine Festival Wine pairing Luncheon at Tutto Gusto in Italy

It was a gorgeous day today. We actually slept in for us and sat on the Crescent Lake beach for a bit. We got a great look at the new Gondola they are building. I wish I could figure out how to add pictures in but nothing seems to work. We went to the bakery in France and shared a croissant while getting the La Passion Martini Slush. This was my second favorite drink of the whole festival. It was very popular. Next we went to Japan and got the Spicy Roll and the Ozeki Rai Sake, both excellent. We browsed around the countries just killing time until our luncheon. We checked in at Tutto Gusto about 11:45am. We had never been here before. We were seated in a large area that looked like a wine cellar. It's family seating so we chatted with the people seated all around us. Very nice, mostly other couples around our age.

First Course: Culatello Parmiggiano Reggiano, Mostarda di Pere: Culatello ham, Parmesan cheese, pear "mustard" with Prosecco, Villa Sandi. This was great, the cheese was superb.
Second Course: Risotto: Carnalo rice, pear, walnuts, gorgonzola cheese with Sauvignon, Bosco del Merlo, very good.
Third Course: Dentice: Snapper with Pecorino, Il Feuduccio, the fish was a little bland
Fourth Course: Costatine Di Manzo: Braised short rib, white polenta, red wine sauce with Barbaresco, Batasiolo. This was so good. The short rib was perfect, the polenta divine and the wine was rich and dry, delicious and matched perfectly!
Fifth Course: Frutta Calda con Semifreddo alle Mandorle: Chocolate almond semifreddo, warm berries with Moscato, Fior d"Arancio, Montegrande. Beautiful desert and delicious too.

We had a wonderful time at the luncheon. The servings were not too large as to make this an uncomfortable meal. I thought it was executed perfectly. The servers were super sweet. We travelled around World Showcase trying to work off our lunch. I got the Fire and Ice from Joffreys which is frozen lemonade and Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey. It was great! We once again walked all the way around World Showcase and back to the beachclub to take a bit of a break.

    Next UP: HollyWood Studios

Continued Monday September 24 HollyWood Studios; More Epcot Food & Wine Festival; Illuminations

We headed to Hollywood Studios. First to Toy Story. We used our FastPass on Slinky Dog. Very cute. The theming here is wonderful. I didn't take good notes on what we did here but of course, we went over to Star Tours. We rode Rock N Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, Muppet Vision 3D. We saw all of the Galaxy's Edge construction. It's going to be amazing!! We had planned on spending the rest of the day here, but we had pretty much got on everything we wanted so we ended up deciding to go back to Epcot.

We went back to Epcot and enjoyed more of the Food & Wine Festival.

I got the Fire and Ice drink from Joffrey's. It is a mixture of frozen lemonade and Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey. It was delicious. I had another of these before the trip ended. Yum. Next we went to Ireland and got the Warm Irish Cheddar Cheese and Stout dip. My husband got the Guiness Foreigh Extra Stout and I got the Guiness Bailey's Shake. the Cheddar Cheese Dip was to die for. I think it was my favorite thing in the whole Festival. The shake was also super yummy. I'm not a fan of dark beer but my husband said it was good but there were others he had prior that were better. Next we went to Canada. We got the famous Canadian Cheddar Cheese Bacon soup with pretzel roll. I thought it was good but Ireland's cheese dip was better. Le Cellier's Wild Mushroom and Beef Filet Mignon was a real stand out. Perfectly cooked, sauce was amazing. We had the Chateau Des Charmes Equuleus Red Blend Wine which was a really good accompaniment. I think Ireland's Cheese dip was so good we went back for seconds. We watched illuminations. Then we headed back to the Beach Club, got in the pool and hot tub for a while, then called it a night.

This morning we woke up early to go to Animal Kingdom. We got coffee and a little breakfast at the Beach Club Market Place. I hadn't been able to get FastPass for Flights of Passage but we were hoping that an early start would make up for this. We headed strait to Avatar. I was just AMAZED at the theming of Pandora. It really seems to be better than any thing they have done thus far. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us with Galaxy's edge. Down to the tiniest detail everything looked EPIC and Amazing. First up, we qued up for FOP. The stand by line said 60 minutes and that's about what it took, maybe a little under. But the que was filled with so much amazing theming, we really didn't mind. This ride is just amazing. Lives up to every bit of the hype and I think it might be the best ride in WDW. I really thought about queing up again but the line was even longer and we had other things to do. Next we had fast passes for Na'vi River Journey. I had heard a little flack about this ride but I liked it. Definitely family friendly. I equated it to Pirates of the Caribbean Pandora Style. Overall I was just amazed at the theming.

Next we went to Africa to the Festival of the Lion King and used our Fast Passes for the Safari, both long time favorites. In Asia we used our last Fast Passes on UP. This is one of our favorite movies. We watch it every Christmas Day. My husband also got his photo with Dug but I think this was more in the front of the park. We went to Yak & Yeti for lunch. I had the FireCracker Shrimp and it was delicious. I can't remember what my husband ordered, however, we were both really happy with the meal. Next, we went to Discovery Island, explored the trails for a bit and went to It's Tough to be a bug. We opted to skip DinoLand and headed back to the Beach Club for a break.

We headed back to the Beach club for a little break. I find this makes our late nights doable. Then we headed back through the international gateway into the World Showcase yet again. We went to the Wine & Dine kiosk and we had the Artist Palette of Wine and Cheese. We weren't that impressed with this. Wines were pretty good but the cheeses were mostly bland. Next we went to the Cheese Studio and had the Maple Bourbon Boursin Cheesecake with Maple Bourbon Cream, Caramel and Pecan Crunch and the Domaine Saint Andre De Figuiere Rose Cotes de Provence. Both Excellent. One of the best desserts at the Festival. We went to the Chocolate Studio and had the Sweet Dark Chocolate Raspberry Torte with the Banfi Rosa Regale Sparkling Red. The Rosa is amazing! The Torte was just meh, I would recommend the Liquid Nitro much more. We also had a shrimp dish from somewhere that was really good, but I didn't take a pic of where we got that. We walked around the countries some more. The British Invasion was playing in England. We bought some souvenirs for our kids.

We headed back to the Beach Club, changed into our swimsuits and swam around the pool for awhile. We had a couple drinks at the pool bar, Hurricane Hanna's. We ended up staying there for an hour or two. Conversed with another couple for a while. Everyone was very friendly. Ended the night in the hot tub.

    Wednesday September 26

    This was our last day.

We packed up early. Stowed our suitcases at concierge and headed over to Epcot. We went to the daiquiri bar Shimmering Sips and had one last daiquiri. We went to a food seminar that we had pre paid for. I think it was $45 a person. We were a little dissapointed in this. There were a lot of people here so you had to view it through a television screen. The chef wore a baseball hat on so all you could really see was the brim of her baseball cap. I don't understand why someone didn't advise her to take off the cap. She was not very engaging, the food was meh. Overall, it wasn't a great experience. We browsed around the festival center, got on a few rides and shopped some more. The last thing we did was visit the Ireland Booth again. AMAZING!! We headed out around 3, took Magical Express back to the airport. Our flight was delayed twice so we ended up spending a lot of time at the airport and didn't get home til late.

Overall we had a great time. I think the combination of some weekend time and some weekday time worked out really well. I definitely recommend hitting the festival during the week due to crowds.

Thank you for a great trip report. I have wanted to go during the food and wine festival, but I'm kind of a picky eater, and I don't drink a lot of anything except water (lol). I went to Mickey's Halloween Party at Disneyland this year, and absolutely loved it. Normally I wouldn't do something like that, but I went by myself and splurged a bit. Now I really want to go to Magic Kingdom's version. Someday... maybe...

Thanks for sharing. It brought back memories of our Food and Wine trip in October. The Nitro was my absolute favorite dessert. I also enjoyed the Active Eats Energy Bar Bites. The Piggy Wings and Charred Chimichurri Skirt Steak From Flavors From Fire were very good, but my favorite was the Short Rib Tostada from Mexico. I had to have my own, did not want to share with the wife. We are going back in September, and cannot wait to eat!
