Disneyland suspends sales of the Southern California Annual Pass
Citing a need to balance demand and provide an excellent experience for park visitors, the Disneyland Resort today suspended new sales of the Southern California annual passport until further notice. No other Disneyland annual passports are affected at this time.
In a statement, a Disneyland spokesperson tells MousePlanet, "Our Annual Passes are very popular with guests. We continuously seek the appropriate balance that helps manage demand for our product and allows us to deliver a world-class experience for all guests."

It's the second most restrictive and the first one that allows some weekend visits.

Yes. The article says it is the one that was restricted from 2014 to 2016.

It makes sense to me to suspend sales of this pass over the lowest. If people don't want the cheapest pass, they'll have to pony up more for the Deluxe, or settle for fewer days.

A little surprised on doing it now and not October. Guess they want to control the flow on first day after the holidays that pass will activate.
