It's that time, once again!

SOOOO! Here I am, just six months after my last trip to Disneyland and I'm already headed back! Oh - My - Gosh! Of course, my husband thinks I'm crazier than crazy!

"Anna! you were JUST there with Lucas in November! What is with you?"

Well, I'll tell you what . . . proximity! We have decided to go down to CA this summer to see my husband's family. His 93 year old grandma is fading away, mentally, and he wants to see her before she forgets who he is. He needs to spend some time with his father and we really want to visit with his aunt at the beach too - she just adores my son, her grand-nephew. They are all in the LA area. You expect me to go to LA, deal with family and NOT take a "vacation" day at Disneyland? Yeah, right! I'm SO totally going!

I had to break the news to my son because we've had to cancel other plans in order to go to California. I was afraid of what he would say . . . .

"Lucas, I have some bad and good news for you. You know how we were planning to go to Whistler in August? (we usually try to head up to Whistler every summer - it's fun! Lucas LOVES Canada . . .) Well, this year we may have to cancel." Tears start to well up in his little eyes. The thought of not getting to stop at Rogers Arena in Vancouver for Canucks gear is the center of these tears, I have a feeling. Not so much the dissapointment of not going to Whistler, although, I'm still bummed about it. They have great ice-cream up there. COWS. It's amazing, but I digress . . . Dole Whips are amazing too!

"So, we might have to go down to see Grandma Nana in California and if we do then we'll go see Grandpa and Auntie AND maybe a trip to Disneyland and the San Diego Zoo! Good compromise?" The tears went away, quickly! Just the mention of Disneyland changed the mood! And the beach and a zoo? Whistler can wait . . . .

So now I'm in planning mode again. I love planning mode. It makes me happy and I have so much to look forward to. We're probably driving down this time - UGH! But we did a road trip to Northern CA last year and it was great, so what's another six hours to LA? ((eye roll)) We'll manage, I'm sure.

As far as Disneyland, however, it will probably only be one day. I know! One day only? What a crime! But at least it's something and darn it all! I want to see Carsland! Lucas wants to see Carsland. Scott wants to see Carsland AND Star Tours, which he missed out on when Lucas and I went on our own in November.

Lucas and I had SUCH a great time on that trip. Our first mommy-son adventure on this grand of a scale. I figured out how to deal with a child on a trip by my self - which wasn't a big deal because he's seven! he can at least push his own suit case around and isn't afraid of security at the aiprot any more. It was WAY easier than I thought! This time, he was an "expert" on the parks, too. He knew his way around, to my suprise! He remembered things I thought he wouldn't and mixed with memories of the Magic Kingdom at WDW, he did really well.

I really wanted to go on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. No way, Mom! Too scary! I expected his with Space Mountain, but BTMR? Really? Come on!! I love that ride! So, I was sneaky! I showed him Indiana Jones. He likes Indiana Jones. It wasn't a roller coaster, I said, It just rocks back and forth like Star Tours. Ok. So I lied to my child. Indiana is WAY worse than Star Tours, but he didn't know that. So we went - winding in and out of the crazy entrance to Indiana Jones. We got into the belly of the ride and he's starting to well up. Not too sure about all of this. Kinda freeky, but he decideds its too late and I assure him that see? Other kids are going and if he wants, he can hang on to me for safety. So, we went. CRAP! I remember now that I'm not a huge fan of that ride. Lucas was totally NOT a fan of that ride, but he was brave!!!! He did it and I bought him a little Indiana Jones Mickey Mouse afterward as a prize. SOOOO! Then, I went up to a kid who had been in our car.

"Do you mind if I ask you a question?" he didn't. "Have you been on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad?" he had. "And which ride is scarier? BTMR or Indiana?" he said Indiana was WAY worse and BTMR was a breeze and totally fun. I looked at my son. He nodded. He was now ready to ride a rollercoaster. I was beaming! WOO HOO!

We headed over to BTMR and stood in the quickly moving line. Remember, this was Novevember and that day it threated rain, so the park was practically empty. PERFECT for us! Lucas was nervous. He wasn't sure of his desicion. I assured him it would be ok and this little girl in front of us assured him too. She was younger and smaller than him and SHE was going on, happily. He could do it.

We rode. We squeeled in delight. WHEEEEE!!! Around the curves. Up and down. WHEEEEE! When we got off, he looked at me and SMILED! "Mom! that was the best ride ever and I'm proud of myself for going!" His first real rollercoaster. I was proud too! I took a photo of him with his arms in the air, in front of BTMR. A memory that will last forever.

So now, Lucas is all excited to be going back to DLR to 1. See Carsland 2. Take Dad on Star Tours 3. Ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. WOO HOOO!!!!! I'm excited too! Disneyland. Bring it on!
