If I've Said It Once...

Pet Peeve: "Disney" is not a location.

Is this really the way to start a welcoming, cute and perky blog? Probably not. But anyone who knows me knows this is just how I am. I promise that there will be plenty of helpful posts here eventually. In the meantime, I really don't mean anyone to feel offended by this rant, but I have to say it:

When referring to geographic locations, the word "Disney" is an ADJECTIVE, people, NOT A NOUN.

You cannot "Go" to Disney. No one "Goes" to Disney. You can't take a trip "To" Disney.

You can go see a person named Disney. Then it's a proper noun.

But there is no PLACE called Disney.

There is Walt Disney WORLD (WDW). (Which is where most of the people who misuse this word think they are actually going. Hello, people, there are at least four other Disney Theme Parks/Theme Park Clusters in the world, not counting DVC resorts.)

There is DisneyLAND (DLR), DisneyLAND Paris, Hong Kong DisneyLAND and Disneyland Tokyo.

But the word "Disney" does not describe any ONE park anywhere in the world and it's especially confusing on a website called MousePLANET, which covers the entire Disney Universe as we know it.

I don't mean any illwill towards anyone, it's just driving me a little nuts with it so I thought I'd mention it.

yeah - but even the Travel Channel's latest shows - where they had four new ones for the MOnth of Disney - had "experts" talk about "planning a trip to Disney" and "everyone who goes to Disney"... so even the WDC is most likely a culprit because they most likely hand picked the talking heads..

    Thank you!
I post on a wedding planning board and it irks me when people say they are going to Disney for their honeymoon.

I even have a sig line: say "world" or say "land" you can't honeymoon AT Disney
