  1. Disney Cruise Line ships, Castaway Cay escape serious damage from Hurricane Sandy

In this week's Update, I shared reports of major storm damage aboard the Disney Fantasy and concern about Castaway Cay, Disney's private island in the Bahamas. A story on the CNN website had reported:

Water in the pool shown in the video was emptied into the surrounding areas and into some hallways. The two upscale restaurants (Palo and Remy) had major damage. One exterior door was destroyed near our cabin.
On Wednesday evening, Disney Cruise Line spokeperson Rebecca ...
  2. Is the Walt Disney World Moms Panel Looking For You?

For the sixth year, the Walt Disney World Moms Panel is conducting a search to find moms (and dads) for next year's panel. Members of the panel participate in Disney's online forum, answering questions about planning a Disney trip.

Note that, while the panel says "moms" and "dads," you don't necessarily have to have kids to be a member. You just need to have good Disney planning skills and spend a lot of time helping people to plan their own vacations.

  3. Parks & Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs shuffles the executive deck; what does it mean?

This reorganization of the Parks & Resorts division follows the November 2005 shakeup where then-Parks & ...
  4. Disney Dream a fabulous addition to the Disney vacation portfolio

I've started this blog post a number of times, trying to come up with the best way to sum up my experiences aboard the Disney Dream, the newest addition to the Disney Cruise Line fleet. I kept restarting because I couldn't come up with enough words to describe it. "Wonderful," "magnificent," "spectacular," "wow," and more just don't seem to sum it up.

I suppose that my experience may be colored by the fact that I have not been on a cruise ship in 15 years, and so the bar may have ...
  5. MouseStation Special Report: Bomb Scare at Disney Cruise Line Terminal

Yesterday, May 21, there was a bomb scare at the Disney Cruise Line terminal at Port Canaveral. MouseStation Podcast co-host Mike Demopoulos was on board for a tour at the time.

I was able to interview Mike by phone last night, and we've posted a MouseStation Special Report this morning. Please listen to the show for more on the incident.

For a copy of Mike's messages via Twitter during the incident and a couple of cell phone photos Mike took as the tour finally left ...
