So my husband and I went to DL last night to see if we could see the rumored CM testing that was supposed to begin at 10:45. We got to the park around 8:30 and while we were walking to the main entrance, Monorail Red went by. We headed over to the monorail station and they had a sign up that said they were doing final inspection and testing on the monorail and guests would not be able to load on it. No one seemed to care that they had to wait for the next monorail. People seemed excited to see red. We went up on the platform to get a closer look. Red pulled in and they opened the doors. It's gorgeous inside with blue lights. I asked the monorail CM and he said they are hoping to have it running with guests by the end of the week if not then by the weekend.

We took some pictures but didn't have time to download them last night. I'll try to get them up today if I can.

Thanks Darkbeer! As usual, your photos are wonderful. The monorail looks sleek, especially with the sunlight glinting off of it. I look forward to riding it and for load capacity to increase.

Will they soon be allowing full round-trips...or is the plan to continue to make it one-way?

OK, a few comments...

Red is running, but NOT allowed to carry guests per California law, I would not plan to ride it next week. The LA Times reported "by mid-May"

Interior shots of the new Mark VII Monorail red are now available at the link above....

Capacity for the new Mark VII's is slightly less than the Mark V's, but close. The new design allows more wheelchairs to ride at the same time.

I rode red last night during a cast preview and it was awesome!! The interior is beautiful and the ride is smooth for the most part. I think they still have some SLIGHT clearance issues on one or 2 sections of the track but nothing big. It also travels a lot faster on route than the old monorail in my opinion. Not sure if thats going to be the standard speed when it opens for guests or they were just pushing the speed limit to see what it can handle. Guests wont be disappointed!!

Great pics!! I was at DL on Sunday and did not see it. I wanted to ride the regular Monorail, but some how did not have time. Seemed like only one train was running all day. But, on Monday while at CA, I was excited to see Red go by a few times. Looked very cool!

Here are 2 pics from last nights ride. The first one is approaching the train sitting at the station and the second is a LED sign thats inside every cab.

Based on the fact that the CM previews have had serious issues this week, I wouldn't count on it being available on Friday to the "public".

As always, everything at Disneyland is ALWAYS "subject to change".

Thanks AVP. That's what Channel 7 reported also. And the CM we talked to said Friday or by the weekend. He said CM previews were going well.

Woohoo ... we will be there in 1 and 1/2 and will get to ride :)If that was 1 1/2 days, probably not. As indicated above, the local news is reporting that the Monorail will accept passengers on Friday, but other sources say it will be next week.

If that was 1 1/2 weeks, then yes, yes you will. :D

I saw it last night, and it was beautiful, especially in the sun. Seems shimmery, almost.

CM previews have not gone that well. They had to evac the train Monday Morning, and last nights previews were cancelled.

The Orange County Register has updated their story...

http://ocresort.freedomblogging.com/2008/04/24/monorail-red-opening-date-pushed-back/

Just got word today that the new Monorail Red train will not open to the public this Friday.

Disney Spokesman John McClintock said the team working on the Monorail “has decided to take a few extra days for test and adjust so it will not open to guests on Friday.”

No date has been set for the Monorail’s public launch. We’ll keep you informed on this blog about a public opening date
