Yesterday, I was at Disneyland, and when walking toward the Grand Califonian lobby, I saw a "Plaid" (special host cast member), and said to a friend, oh, there must be someone famous, and sure enough, we passed by, and he said "I think it's Gina Davis." And of course we made fools of ourselves trying to confirm it. and sure enough, it was her. (Sorry for the gawking, Ms. Davis.) Anyway, so we walk into the Lobby and there is Ben Stiller surrounded by a bunch of kids, being quite accommodating. They weren't together (as far as I can tell) but I just wonder, was there some kind of Hollywood thing going on to bring in such celebrities? There was an event going on in the ballroom area, and thought maybe that was the source, or perhaps it was the Food and Wine event. Anyone have insight?

You missed Lance Armstrong as well.

Yeah, I wanna know why they were out in such force Saturday too... Made the getting on the train at Main Street a little odd too...

You've confirmed my first celebrity sighting! I saw Gena Davis while walking through the area between the entrances. I did a double take and said to my friend "wow, that lady looked just like..."

I grew up in Los Angeles, Bevery Hills to be exact, still live there. Run into tourist everyday in the business that I run, bar and restaurant. Everyday they comment to me, WOW there are a lot of celebrities in here. I find the comment a bit funny every time I hear it, reason being, Los Angeles and surrounding area is many celebrities, famous, what ever you want to call them, it's their neighborhood, it's their backyard. So yeah they're going to be around. I guess for people not from LA, it's a bit of a shock, Glad it beings such a topic of conversation to many.

I don't get the OMG!!!!! factor when it comes to celebrities. They are PEOPLE with public jobs. woo hoo. They are no better than anyone else despite what they or the mags seem to want us to believe. They act in movies big whoop. I am not pre occupied with thier lives personally. Guess it's an LA thing.

I think you might have something with it being a Los Angeles thing. We have a lot of filming that goes on around here, you can tell because of the bright neon colored signs with the name of the project on it. No one cares, people keep on driving by. I see stars around here all the time. I've passed them at our mall while walking around, and I notice who they are, but I would never bother them, they want privacy too. You can tell the ones who really don't want to be noticed, they keep their heads down while walking, and lower their hats when they notice that you have seen them.

I do have to say though that Rob Estes has the most beautiful blue eyes, and when I saw Graham Greene (Dances With Wolves), he carried himself in such a majestic way, I would have noticed him no matter who he was. My father was in television, and always emphasized to my brothers and I that actors were just people, and not to make a big deal out of them. But I do think it has something to do with where you live and if it is normal to have famous people around or not. I can understand the excitement for people who haven't experienced that.

I don't think the OP bothered Geena Davis or even planned on it. I don't think they needed to be told they they are just normal people or needed to be told to leave them alone. It sounded like they were just wondering if something was going on at DL that would bring a few celebs out.

My thoughts exactly. You took the words right out of my mouth. Besides, if anyone is "starstruck" because they saw a celebrity...Let them! What's it to you! Maybe it's so norm for you "LA" people to see celebrities, but for others, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. Let them have there moment of "OMG!"

And I'm off of my soap box.....now!

Even living in Southern California its sometimes a surprise to see a celeb out and about. My mom who could totally care less about who is famous, who isnt etc.... Made several passes by Calista Flockhart when we saw her in the GCH lobby, she was looking for Harrison, alas her only encounter with Indy that day was on the ride .

I have lived in LA for 16 years and worked in the entertainment industry for 15 years. I have been at movie premieres for movies I have sold and have sold TV series that are on the air. My husband and both my BIL's and SIL work in entertainment... I go to birthday parties that celebrities attend... I have been in Mommy and Me classes with with celebrities...

All this is to point out... I have had a good share of celebrity exposure... AND I STILL GET FLUSTERED.

It's cool when you see someone who's work you admire. Or someone you watch every week.

Yes they are people too... And they certainly deserve to be treated as such.

Crazy. -- I don't think I would recognize anyone unless they were wearing whatever they wear on television.

Except that voices are easily identifiable, for me. -- If I can hear their voice, then I can scrutinize the face and guess who.

But female stars without make up look nothing like they do on television.
If they change their hair at all, I won't recognize them.

In the umpteen years I've been to Disneyland I finally say my first celebs. Ben Stiller and his wife (sorry I can't think of her name at the moment) were in the Tiki Room on Friday night. I did not approch them.

Rob Estes is just beautiful, period. hehe
I am not one to get star struck either, I live in WA state. Surprisingly several movies have been filmed in Spokane. Christian Slater and Cuba Gooding Jr. were filming in the mall I was shopping in the other day. Stars put their shoes on one foot at a time like the rest of us do. Although if I saw Vince Vaughn at Disneyland, or anywhere for that matter, I would be struck, whether he was star or not.

I actually have a few celebrities that live pretty close and my son used to take karate with the son of a celebrity couple. That couple is in the midst of a divorce right now and was the subject of my wife's conversation at lunch the other day. She was saying what a "cliché old fool" the husband is because he has been getting photographed out with beautiful young models. Well, as she walked out of the restaurant she saw the wife sitting not too far away and feared that she had overheard the comments. When she told me that story I said, "Well, she is divorcing him. I'll bet she liked hearing that he looks like a cliché old fool."

The next day we opened the paper to read that they are reconciling and have called off the divorce. Oops.

This isn't related to Disney, but it made me think of this topic.

NO, i was trying to say that its not an LA thing, I was explaining that people that live in LA its very common and you don't think anything of it. This is my, theirs, our neighborhood. This is where we live, this is our backyard. I think its funny when someone makes a comment like yours, thinking that everyone in LA is preoccupied with the Industry. Couldn't be farther from the truth. The funniest thing I can think is when tourist come up and ask me "Where can we see the celebrities?" I never know how to answer that, its not like they all gather at a corner at a certain time of the day.

Tell 'em:
• Dine at The Brown Derby on Wilshire Blvd.
• Hoist cocktails at The Coconut Grove inside the Ambassador Hotel.
• Gulp a soda drink at Schwab's Drug Store on Sunset Blvd.
• Take a villa at the Garden of Allah at Crescent Heights.
• Window shop at Wallach's Music City at the corner of Hollywood and Vine.
• Buy a 45 rpm record at Tower Records on Sunset Boulevard.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Just to add to this topic....We saw Mark Whalberg w/his girlfriend and daughter in 2007 at the Princess Fantasay Faire. We were in line for 45 minutes waiting to see those princesses, and he was escorted to the exit and got right in. Bummer. I guess those are the perks of celebrity life!

If you have the bucks, you can do the same thing. Is it worth a couple thousand bucks to not wait in line?
