The "Rockin'" attraction overlays haven't been announced for this year yet, but considering how little actual work is involved in changing them over I wouldn't count it out. The changeover could be done overnight with little or no notice.

Here is what the DL Marketing Department released this morning

Disneyland Resort Press Release

Disneyland Resort Offers Southern California Residents Admission to Two Parks for the Price of One

ANAHEIM, California, January 3, 2008 -- As Disney Parks celebrate the "Year of a Million Dreams," local Disneyland Resort guests can experience the magic of the celebration first-hand with the value-packed "Southern California 2Fer Ticket" that features admission to Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure parks on two different days -- all for the price of one park!

The special ticket, which goes on sale Monday, January 7 at Disneyland Resort Hotels, Vons stores, The Disney Stores, South Coast Plaza Disney Desk and Disneyland.com, is valid between January 7 and April 24, 2008 and enables Southern Californians to enjoy all the fun, entertainment, shows and attractions that the two parks showcase.

There is no better time than now for Southern California residents to take advantage of the 2fer ticket. On January 31, 2008, as part of the Disney Dreams Giveaway, a first in Disneyland Resort history will be unveiled. Lucky guests will have the chance to spend an unforgettable night inside Disneyland at the most extraordinary accommodations at the Resort: the Disneyland Dream Suite, an in-park apartment originally planned for and by Walt Disney, himself. For most days throughout 2008, a randomly selected guest will be escorted to the Disneyland Dream Suite and spend the night in the deluxe living quarters. Located above Pirates of the Caribbean in the New Orleans Square section of Disneyland, the 2,200-square-foot Disneyland Dream Suite includes a living room, open-air courtyard, two bedrooms and two bathrooms, along with an elevator to accommodate guests with disabilities.

The overnight stay in the Disneyland Dream Suite will be a highlight among the millions of "dream come true" experiences awarded at random to Disneyland Resort guests during the "Year of a Million Dreams."

Guests will also experience all new immersive entertainment including the debut of "Pixar Play Parade" and an enhanced "Playhouse Disney-Live On Stage!" in March. "Pixar Play Parade" will turn Disney's California Adventure park into a giant playground with acrobatics, bungees, playful choreography, and interactive surprises with characters from all eight Disney Pixar films -- Toy Story, a bug's life, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars and Ratatouille. Also in March, "Playhouse Disney -- Live On Stage!" will feature even more of the popular Playhouse Disney characters. The enhanced show will have a colorful cast of Disney Characters, fun theme songs, playful learning experiences, and familiar characters from Playhouse Disney including "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse," "Handy Manny," "Little Einsteins," and more.

2fer tickets are valid for Southern California residents within ZIP codes 90000-93599 and Northern Baja California residents within ZIP codes 21000-22999. Proof of residency required for admission. Admission valid for one day at Disneyland park and another day at Disney's California Adventure park , but not for both parks on the same day. Tickets are valid 30 days from first use. First use must occur between 1/07/08 through 4/24/08. Each day of use constitutes one full day of use. May purchase up to eight tickets per person per day with valid ID. Tickets may not be sold or transferred for commercial use. Offer may not be combined with other discounts or promotions. Offer not valid before 01/07/08. Subject to restrictions and change without notice.

Highlighted by the 2008 Disney Dreams Giveaway, the "Year of a Million Dreams" celebration at Disneyland Resort features a full lineup of immersive character encounters and other "Dreams-Come-True" experiences. Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida are making literally millions of dreams, large and small, come true for eligible guests. Many money-can't-buy experiences-from exclusive Dream FASTPASSES for popular Disney attractions to overnight stays in sides the parks to around-the-world vacations -- will be awarded at random. There are opportunities for guests to meet and play with Disney Princesses at Disney Princess Fantasy Faire, duel with Darth Vader at Jedi Training Academy, or show some school spirit in the "High School Musical 2: School's Out!" street show.

Note, they are marketing Version 2.0 of the Year of a Million Dreams, the new version of Playhouse Disney show and the new Pixar Play Parade.

There is NO mention of "Rockin Both Parks", and last year, it was all over the Press Release.

Disney wants to focus its marketing towards YoaMD and the new attractions (and of course, Toy Story Mania! when it opens).

Last year's Rockin' Both Parks had mixed reviews, and Disney decided it was better to leave them in the traditional version all year. (though the Grad Nights folks will get a Rockin' Space Mountain version just for their special overnight parties).

Too bad... I'll miss the Rockin' Space Mountain this year. I like the overlays for the occasional change of pace/scenery. Oh well...

I enjoyed it, and so did everyone I ever rode it with. We thought it felt like a completely different ride from the regular Space Mountain, and it was neat to have a "new" roller coaster to experience.

I wouldn't want it to be a permanent change, because ultimately I like the regular Space Mountain better. But it was fun as a temporary thing, and I wouldn't mind another chance to see it someday.

Same here. Wasn't the hot diggity. But it wasn't terrible. Reminded me of a rock concert. (I'd just seen Bob Seger at the Forum, maybe that's why.)

Didn't get a chance to ride Rockin' Cal Screamin', but I can't imagine I missed much there.

I hated the rockin' version--too loud, lighting ruined the effect. Suuuuuuper happy it is not back this year.

We rode both "rockin" versions last January. They were novel; both dd and I are RHCP fans, so the music change worked for us. I understand some objections to the lighting in SM. But, after riding SM a hundred times, it was cool to experience it another way. The biggest change to CS was that all the cars seemed to have their sound systems working; which previously was hit or miss. Both dd and I think that CS without sound is just not the same experience, not matter what the soundtrack.

What was the lighting effect in SM? I just thought they changed the music.

They changed a LOT more than just the music! The Rockin' overlay is the one I cared for the least. I don't want to be a traitor to Disneyland and say that I disliked it...but...I was overjoyed when it was finally removed.

aww. i am bummed about that there will be no overlay on screamin! i didn't care for the space moutain overlay, but the screamin one worked perfectly for the rollercoaster!

Since the changeovers can be done by this point at a low price (unless anything new was added)... the DLR would have been smart to run the Rockin' promotion again.

Most of the insane anti-Rockin' complainers were AP's ... many of them repeatedly complaining every visit as an organized protest on other fan boards(which City Hall & Guest Relations were well aware of :p) ... but the fact is every one of them was already paid up for the year in Disney's eyes.

The Rockin' coasters brought in many more NAMM visitors than were visiting in past years during the annual convention... and the NAMM badges so many Space and Screamin' riders were wearing in '07 is proof of that...., and the NAMM visitors, the overwhelming majority of which were not already annually paid-up AP's.... they were single and multiple day park hoppers.
New customers.

Disney could have added new songs, made old & new songs randomized per ride, plussed some (read: many) things inside Space Mtn, added fog in the Cali tunnels....
Improvements & upgrades from year 1. What a concept!

(Hey Disney... is this really just because WDI did Rockin' and it 'really wasn't that great, especially compared to DDS's HMH and IaSWH'....:p so it wasn't worth plussing or even returning the same stuff for another run... or what??)
Yet Golden Screams returned for a 2nd atrocious year?!?!?!
...which actually had fairly costly changes this year(!!) ... and all that after it was universally slammed by APs and day Guests alike by the tens of thousands over it's month run!)

With the year 1 Rockin' attractions there were many things to plus and in theory... improve on both seasonal attractions ... which then once again could have been enjoyed by literally hundreds of thousands of more Guests (over a few month period) and tens of thousands of more Guests (on a daily basis) than the actual few Guests in comparison that actually get ANYTHING at all from the YoaMD 2.0.
Daily or over a few full months.

Bad decisions, TDA.

What about the long rumored "Pirates of the SCAREibbean" Halloween overlay? I love the idea of switching the track to go through the back loop dressed as a haunted pirate scene.

My wife and I liked it. It was different for a few months. I wouldn't want it that way all the time. My wife actually liked Space Mountain better because she could see the track and the ride seamed a bit slower. She's not great with coasters and she would ride space more with the overlay than not- So I'm all for it.:D

I would rather see the Halloween Space Mountain overlay they did in Hong Kong Disneyland. It sounded like it turned out really well based on what I have read.

That did sound like a lot of fun!!

I'd like to see DL try it for a month, next Halloween.
