Yesterday we saw people working on the Disneyland sign, and once the scaffolding was up, they covered over all of it. The Disneyland sign is completely covered with a tan colored cloth. Does anyone know? We're curious! :)

They're decorating it with "Dream Clouds" for the Year of a Million Dreams".

I always wondered by they couldn't add a distinctive welcome arch over the Mickey and Friends ramp (coming from the south-bound 5). The ramp seems so sterile to me and you whiz by the welcome signs at the front of the structure too fast (most times) to even notice them.

That would probably be because it was done when DCA was and we know how that turned out. That would have just been another thing to spend money on and they were cheap. I know the first time we went there after they changed the parking we missed it and had to turn around. A big sign would indeed be helpful.

I really like that one too. I like the original but this one took that concept and updated it. The new one just isn't right.

What would be an AWESOME idea would be it would be the most recent Disneyland sign (1989-2001) and they could just add Resort under Disneyland to update it.

They sold it on eBay. :eek: {Kidding.}
Thanks for the answers... the sign is still covered. Speaking of dreams (coming soon- dream clouds, etc. on the sign...) We got dreamed today in California Adventure Park - we each received a free 5 X 7 photopass photo, and a 'badge' type pin to promote the dream give-a-way. We were thrilled, we had been hoping to be dreamed once on this trip! :)

They did sell it on ebay via Disneyauctions. Disneyland fan, actor John Stamos bought the "Disneyland" letters for $30,700 in 2000. The other portions of the sign, "The Happiest Place on Earth" marquee, and the Castle Logo were also auctioned off.

if you have not already seen this, have a look; it makes a cute screensaver, and you can print it out for scrapbooking etc.

Didn't John Stamos buy the "D" letter off the ORIGINAL Disneyland marquee beforehand, as well?

I do too! Isn't this the one that John Stamos purchased?

Here is a photo of the new sign at Harbor and Disney Way...

By the way, the pedestrian entrance on Harbor is now covered up, and presumed to be getting the same treatment...

Yuck! My favorite frame is the late sixties. The sign, the park, everything.

People ask, where do you live? I say... 1968.
