DISNEYLAND PARK CELEBRATES ITS 47TH ANNIVERSARY WEDNESDAY, JULY 17;
DANIEL RODRIGUEZ, NEW YORK CITY POLICE OFFICER AND SINGER, WILL APPEAR

News & Photo Alert

WHAT: Daniel Rodriguez, the New York City police officer and tenor who made memorable appearances singing patriotic songs following the September 11 attacks, will perform in a ceremony celebrating the 47th Anniversary of the opening of DISNEYLAND park in Anaheim California. The event will be hosted by Cynthia Harriss, President, the DISNEYLAND Resort, with Mickey Mouse and other DISNEYLAND characters.

DISNEYLAND, Walt Disney’s first theme park, opened to the public on July 17, 1955. It has grown, over the years, from a single park with 18 major attractions to the current DISNEYLAND park, with 60 attractions, part of the DISNEYLAND Resort including three hotels, the DOWNTOWN DISNEY District of restaurants, shops and entertainment, and a second theme park, DISNEY’S CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE.

Daniel Rodriguez, known as “America’s Tenor,” graduated from the Police Academy in 1996. He then became both an active duty police officer, working as a beat patrolman and police security office at the Manhattan South precinct, and one of the official singers for the NYPD, performing at departmental parties, groundbreakings and other events. Since the events of September 11, when he worked for 10 straight days keeping order at the World Trade Center site, he has sung in a number of commemorative public events. He recently made his recording debut with a CD, The Spirit of America.
