I recently attended Grad Nite and I need to say it's not worth it. As an annual passholder I attend Disneyland very often and enjoy it, but this was a waste of money. My school got there at 11 pm and everyone was pretty excited. We were excited untill we had to wait 45 mins on a bus waiting for a Disney manager to say we could go. Then we had to walk from the parking lot structure to the front gate not exactly fun. After that I waited in 3 herds until I was then seperated into a male group where there was no visible line just people pushing and shoving. I did not enter the park untill 1:30 in the morning by that time everyone including me had had enough we rode 3 rides two of them being dark rides. I think Disneyland needs to do something with grad nite It's just not Fun. I feel sorry for the people that rarely get to go to Disneyland if at all and they have to put up with just lines for nothing. I know it's not the cast memebers fault at all if anything it's the cast members I feel sorry for.

Yeah, I was out there in the plaza doing guest control. Not fun :(
Do they let you use your AP for grad night? If they don't, they should at least give you a discount.

Why? It's clear that APs are not valid for special events.

ADMIN! He said "death"!!!! BAN HIM!!!
just kidding, don't stress. I'm sure (being the avid Disneyland freak that I am) that I'll have the same feeling afterwards.

Ok guys, can I just tell you that as a woman it just bothers me when you call it a PAP or say "I'm getting a PAP!" with exuberance. Back me up girls...:D
Seriously though, Grad Nites do suck. Even if you didn't have to endure the walk and the pat downs, it's still only six hours with limited food/merch/attractions to expierience.
PAP??? What is that? Park.... apple... pie?
mmmmm....pieeee....

I did Grad Nite myself, and found it pleasant enough (though I'm sure it would have been somewhat more pleasant if I'd had a girlfriend.)
I think I would have preferred a bit more standard DL entertainment, instead of rock bands in every performance venue in the park, but I rather liked the fairly low guest load, and the dress code that meant I wasn't the least-casually-dressed guest in the park, and the souvenirs.
Of course, things may have changed since 1980.
(And incidentally, 22 years later, I'm still looking for my first girlfriend. Any attractive, single, 40-ish geekettes out there who'd like to volunteer? ;))

Why is it horrible? Just uncomfortable...but not horrible by any means. I have been through a lot worse things than that...plus, it's for the good of your health...

Here comes the backup!! I have to reread eveything I see with PAP in it! And if your gonna get a pap, be sure to use the restroom before, and let us know, as a male how you liked it <weg> ;)

But if you think thats horrible, wait until they find something abnormal in there and have to do a biosopy and scrape...now thats horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for GradNite (to stay on topic)....
Never went, always wanted to. My school had gradnite at the school, didn't go to that either.

Oh, HB, I know it all too well. You're talking to a girl that's been through two surgeries and just got the green light to stop the biopsies every three months. Maybe that's why I think a PAP is so horrible, it always went along with other painful things. Sorry to get so off the subject boys, really:) .

I guess different strokes for different folks.
I graduated in 2000, and went to disneyland for grad night, and it was one of the funnest nights of my life. the parking structure was still being built, and we were parked right outside it. we got there are about 10:30.. and I think we had to wait till 11, or 11:30 to head in.
This was the only UN-Fun part. Walking the route the trams take. It wasn't so bad.. cos I was walking with my group of friends, and we were talking. It was far more sucky on the way back... 6 am or so.. and everyone is dead tired.
Anyway, we were pretty much one of the first buses to arrive... so we made it to gates, and I was one of the first few guys patted down, we all headed in and met back up with the girls in our group - went to the lockers straight away (well actually we had to wait on mainstreet till they "opened" the celebration or whatever... then we all headed toward RocketRods (since we knew it would probably have the longest lines...) and then rode pretty much every other ride. Crowds were decent.. since it was one of the last nights, but I had a blast. I mean - you only get ONE chance to be in Disneyland from 12 - 6 am...
Maybe it was cos I was with a group of friends who I had a blast with, or maybe because I was optimistic from the get go... whatever it was... it was fun.

I don't know what you are talking about. We went to grad nite this year, and our school showed up at 11:25, we were let off the bus as 11:35, and we were in the park (on main st.) by 11:50. Yes, they split into male/female groups so that male guards pat down male students and female guards pat down female students. I had a blast there. There is nothing like exploring disneyland with a group of 20 friends, or seeing the sunrise from the drop on splash mountain. We got to ride everthing that was open, including all the dark rides, which I would never get to do normally (due to the long lines of toddlers), but that isn't even what Grad Nite is about. It is about spending a night with friends. The only bad part was listening to the same 4 pop songs over and over again, everywhere we went.

Funny thing. I graduated in 1991, but could not attend my Grad nite because I was scheduled to work my grad nite at the park. I could have complained, but being that I loved my job- I was excited.
In 1991, the crowds were next to nothing, and all my friends had loads of fun- everyone came to see me - I was working as a Merchandising Hostess at the News Stand at the front of the park.
I worked two of them in a row, and the kids seemed to be having a great time, but back then there were less schools involved, mostly local.. Now schools from ALL OVER California are doing it, and I think perhaps they need to make more dates, or two different time sets.
The only thing I found funny was the girls coming in with cute dresses and heels, and leaving with a Goofy Sweatshirt over their dress, and some Pooh Slippers instead of the heels.. priceless...:D
