Ok, so normally we do our character breakfast at Paradise Pier Hotel (without reservations I might add). This year, being that we will be there on my sons birthday, I took no chances and actually made breakfast and dinner reservations (I never do this!!). Anyway, we are booked for breakfast at 8am at the Plaza. Now, the park doesn't open until 8am, correct? How will we get into the park and over there in time? How nice are they about people being late? Should I call and change the time? It is a Sunday morning by the way.

They know you can't be there right at 8. If you delay the seating til later, you may have a wait. Remember, PS is not a reservation, but more of a Fastpass type thing. You will be next up, so you may still have a small wait. 8am would be better than 830am.

they are actually really good about that sort of thing. They know the park doesn't open until 8am....so they do realize people will be a few minutes late. We did that one year and they had no problem seating us once we got there, which was about 15 minutes after our time.

Even when the park doesn't officially open until 8 a.m., don't they let people in early but keep them out of the "lands" and off the rides by CMs holding up ropes blocking off the remainder of Disneyland? I haven't been for several months - have they stopped the infamous "rope drop" (and the alternative "rope backing-up")?

http://www.mouseplanet.com/al/docs/plan.htm says "Try to get there an hour before the park's announced opening time. On busy days (weekends / holidays / Summer) the park may open anywhere from 60 to 30 minutes early. (Sometimes Main St. is opened to absorb crowds until the official opening time too - a great time to get a cup of coffee or a muffin if you need one.)

http://www.epinions.com/content_10196455044 claims "The gates open 30 minutes early so that you can enter the park and browse around Main Street before the rest of the park and rides open up."

So in theory you should be able to get in the gates before Disneyland opens at 8:00 a.m., and if they open Main Street then you can go all the way up next to the Plaza so you can show up at 8:01 a.m.

KatprintIf the park opens at 8am, it opens at 8am. If it opens at 9am, the gate will open at 830am and they will be held at the end of Main Street until 9 for rope drop. If it opens at 10am, 930am will be gate opening with rope drop at 10.

Back in Sept of 2003 when we went to the Plaza Inn for the character breakfast (Pooh and Friends, at the time, I think), we asked a CM where it was located (first trip in about 10 years) and even though only Main St was open at the time, the CM walked us around the "rope" and escorted us to the Plaza about 20 minutes before anyone else was let out of Main St.

I don't know if this is the normal procedure or not (sounds like it isn't or it has changed since 03), but we had all the characters to ourselves for almost a half an hour!

Have fun!
