Tell us about the best single ride experience you have had. I have two.

Firstly, my wife and I went to Disneyland for our honeymoon. DCA was brand new at the time and we were sooo excited for it. Eventually, after riding Screamin a few times, we decided we wanted a picture to remember the moment. We held up our wedding rings and pointed at them. Made a great picture.

Secondly, last time we went to the park, it was so empty at night that we rode Splash mountain over and over to get a good photo (see a theme). Long story short, on our seventh attempt, the ride stalled and broke down. We eventually had to be evacuated out the back way. But, we got to sit in the ride for about 30 mins and then see the background. Was interesting at least.

Want to share?

Cant wait until June!!!!

Soft opening on Space Mountain this last go around of the ride being closed for so long. I was at the park right after July 4, 2005 and noticed a 70 minute wait sign. Got on the ride and about 3/4's of the way through it the ride broke down. All cars came to a quick stop (although I did see one train of cars go flying by. That was a little scary). We sat in the dark for several minutes. Then somebody came on over the loud speaker......and then the lights came on. It is so wild in there!!! We sat and waited our turn until 4 cast members came along to hand push us all back in to the station. Very unusual it was :) When we got back to unload a cast member asked if we all wanted to go again. Heck yeah! So off we went. We made it all the way through. However, on the second go around none of the music worked. That, too, is pretty weird :) I loved every minute of it.

I would have to say that during our honeymoon my wife and I made it to Splash Mountain where we were able to get our own log. We were wearing the Mickey top hat and the Minnie vail and went on Splash with them on. It is one of the few times we have spent the money to get an attraction picture.

We also got a log to ourselves for our frist ride at WDW's Splash Mountain.

Last November, we received a special invite to visit the parks by Captain Jack Sparrow (and a couple of other super special cast members) all for our son. Well, little did we know that we would be given a special ride on POTC. We were escorted through the exit to get in. We were given our own boat and our own special ride. It was so awesome. I did feel bad for those that were waiting in the HUGE lines to get on the ride. They were looking at us trying to figure out who we were (we were being treated as though we were famous, seriously, crowds were being parted on the walk over the ride and everything). Our son still talks about getting to ride the ride in our own boat, all by ourselves and how we were famous for the day!!!

In May 2005, when I went with my sister, it was towards the end of the day, and BTMRR only had about a 15 minute lineup, so we got on, just as it was getting dark. When we pulled into the station, we noticed there was only about a 10 minute wait, so we got on again. When we got off that ride, we saw about a 5 minute wait, so we rode again. Plus, there's something really cool about the BTMRR at night.

My best single ride was actually just this past month. I was at Disneyland last month with my best friend Cassie and it was her first trip ever to Disneyland. My mom left us alone for the night so we decided to watch the fireworks. We only ended up having to wait for about 20 minutes and had a really good spot right in front of the Partners statue. After that we made our way over to the Matterhorn and rode it. My friend and I pretty much never stop laughing and we have so much fun together and the line for the Matterhorn was really fun. After that we were starving at by now it was around 10:30 so we ran to New Orleans Square to get clam chowder bread bowls for a very late dinner before the park closed at 11. We were dead tired and were about to leave, but we walked by Pirates of the Caribeean, a cast member standing outside of the ride asked us if we wanted to ride one last time before park closing. We decided that we wanted to so we made our way into the ride and had a boat all to ourselves. It was such a fun ride because it was just the two of us and we sang and laughed and had a great time. Also, all of the boats in front and behind us were completely empty so that was even more amazing.

May 3rd, 2005, pirates of the caribbean. It was the day before they were going to close the park only to media (may 5th being the giant celebration day) so I went to the parks thinking nobody'd be there--boy was I right! I have some of the most amazing pictures of DCA and disneyland being completely empty. It was like a dream having a total walk on to every ride in the park. Easilly, though, the best was pirates as I had a boat to myself and nobody else on the ride for at least three boats ahead of and behind me. The cast member told me I could go ahead and take pictures because there was nobody else around to ruin their experience. Simply amazing.

One time I went to ride splash mountain by myself while my family were too tired to do anything. So I get a single rider pass, but when I get to the boarding area, it was COMPLETELY empty. So I got a log all to myself, and all the other logs in front and back of me were empty! The ride was peaceful (except for the drop) and surprisingly creepy, but it was one fun experience!

I was at the park on May 3, 2005, too. You are so right.....the park was empty!!! It was great! That was a very fun day. We had won tickets with our APs to be at the park on May 4, 2005 (the day the park was closed to the public). There were definitely more people at the park on May 4 then there were on May 3.

The first year the DCA was open we all wanted to go ride California Screamin'. It was dark out and as our ride commenced, the fireworks show at Disneyland started. It was really great seeing the fireworks while riding the coaster. Looking at the exploding sky decorations while looping upside down in Mickey's head is an experience my wife and I remember fondly..

In second place was one year when my kids were still pretty young when we were able to get one of the last rides on PotC. We got a boat all to ourselves and there was nobody in several boats in front of us or behind us. It felt like we had the whole ride to ourselves. Really memorable.

This last March my son and I rode Space Mountain. For the first time --EVER -- I actually let go of him. He turned to me just before we launched and said, "Mama, I'm 6 now. You don't have to hold on to me soooo tight, I'll be ok." We both enjoyed this ride so much even tho I had happy tears in my eyes...:crying: :)

I have two.

On our 14th anniversary, we rode the Matterhorn at night. They were shooting off the fireworks, so every time the bobsled went outside we saw them being shot off over us. We were cuddled together watching, great way to spend an anniversary! ;)

One of my favorite ways to ride Indiana Jones is in the driver's seat. I get the steering wheel, and pretend to drive, turning it whichever way the jeep is going. I tell you, it adds to the experience of the ride. Last time we were in DL, I told Barbossa about it as we were in line for the ride. Some little girl heard us, she got the driver's seat in our jeep and she drove like I said! I wonder if she had as much fun as I do? :geek: :D

I have ridden POTC with a friend, and we were the only two on the boat. We rode it several times, and it is great that way. Our last trip, there was no line, and we got right on. MrPooh has never done that, he thought it was the coolest thing ever. I said, "Wait until you get your own boat!" :D

I wonder if anyone has taken a ride on ToT alone? That might be creepy.

OOOH! Good question!

One of my best rides was actually Tower of Terror. I had no idea what the "5th dimension" was in the WDW one, so it was a complete surprise. What a thrill!

I also love the time me and my three siblings (all in our 30's and 40's) met for a weekend at Disneyland--something we had never experienced together as children--and rode Space Mountain together. We all got in on the photo, and it is a priceless memory for me. :)

Then there was the time we were stuck on Peter Pan, the lights went on and we saw how high up those flying boats really sail (pretty high). Something had failed rather catastrophically in the ride system so the attraction operators had to call in the maintenance guys, who released the locks on each individual vehicle one at a time and shoved us--fast!--to the end of the track where we were able to disembark.

My first date with DH was at DL. It had rained hard the ENTIRE day, we'd had a great time, but still it really rained. We took a break in the afternoon and came back in the evening, freshly showered and dry! We rode BTMRR and it was great. The wind whipping through our hair and it was an intersting contrast to our ride earlier in the day when we were getting soaked!

Or riding Spaceship Earth with our son. Anytime we get to do that we know that we are really on vacation!

My dh and I were in DCA a few years back and were the last ones on TOT. The cm's were all gathering to ride with us and one told us about the girl in the wall on the upper level and a bunch of other stories about areas being haunted in DCA and DLR. We rode the ride and came down to see the pictures. All the CM were hamming it up and it made a great picture. That was a great ride.

Being stuck on Skyway to Tomorrowland ( cable cars ) - shortly before entering the Materhorn - it was directly over the path between Alice and MH -and the Electric Light Parade was taking place right below us.

My best ride was taking my daughter who was about eight months old on It's A Small World for the first time.

It was decorated for Christmas and my mom had been singing to my daughter her own little variation of Deck the Halls and singing, "It's the baby's very first Christmas, fa, la la la, la la la!"

In the last scene of It's A Small World, all the little dolls sing Deck the Halls. My daughter turned to me with the biggest grin on her face and if she could of spoke she would of said, "Hey Momma, I KNOW THAT SONG!" The look on her face said it all.

I will never forget that. I feel so blessed that I have a daughter who I can share in the magic with!

Ah, I thought of another one. I took her on Monster's Inc for the first time and almost at the end, the scene where they are decontaminating you, it broke down. We had to wait till a CM came and got us out and we got to walk out for the rest of the ride. I told my daughter, "This is the not the way the ride normally ends!"

I love it when something unusual like that happens and you can see some behind the scenes stuff. LUV IT!

Riding one day as a single rider, I managed to get the front of the car on the left hand side of the Matterhorn. A great ride as usual, until we get back into the loading platform. All of a sudden, a Cast Member asks everyone to remain seated as they needed to remove a set of cars from the rotation to slow things down a bit for a few minutes. So with much beeping, our cars slid to the left and another took our place at the platform.

After they unloaded and reloaded with new Guests, our cars slid back into place for unloading and reloading.

And when the Cast Member, asked if I wanted to go for another ride, I said "Of course!"

Two great rides on an attraction that I once wouldn't have ridden for anything in the world. Now that's fun!

My favorite ride experience was when Pirate of the Caribbean broke down just as we were about to go down the first drop. We were completely stuck, with the front of the boat hanging over the drop just a bit. We were in the second seat. My 8-year-old daughter and 4-year-old nephew had their arms up for the drop and kept them up for a long time, lol! We had a great group of guys behind us (teenagers or young adults, I'm not sure exactly how old they were), and they were saying things like, "What troopers!" and "That's dedication!" A cast member came over the intercom and instructed us to all rock back and forth in the boat, then side to side, back and forth again, etc. The guys behind us were just hilarious and made it so much fun.

Eventually they turned the lights on (saw a bit more of the "behind the scenes" stuff than I wanted to there, lol) and a cast member came out and tried to push our boat. The guys were cheering him on and making all sorts of funny wisecracks (not mean-spirited at all).

We finally got going, but I have to say that was probably the most fun I've had on any ride in my life!

My favorite ride was actually at WDW - but it's pretty much the same thing at DLR . . . Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. It was the VERY first ride my family went on and the first "roller coaster" type ride I had ever done (at age 16!!) I'll never forget the smile on my dad's face, the giggles and screeches from my mom, and my younger brother hanging on for dear life around the corners, laughing the whole way. My brother had a straw fadora style hat he was wearing and during the ride, my mother had wedged it under her tush to hold it in place. Needless to say, it didn't survive the ride very well with all the shifting my mother did in her seat! Poor Mike had to wear a crushed hat the rest of the trip (that with his neon green shorts . . . it was the late late 80's)

I also remember going on the Haunted Mansion with just my dad . . . that was a special time for the two of us! Screaming, jumping into Daddy's arms and laughing at the ghoulish figures.

My favorite DLR ride experience was last year. Our DS, who was almost two, had always hated carousels, but he LOVES sea creatures! When we visited DCA's King Triton's Carousel, his eyes lit up and and he wanted to ride. Fortunatly for us, there was hardly anyone there and we got to go back and ride three times in a row!! He was thrilled and when he's happy, Mommy and Daddy are happy! Now, he loves carousels and can't wait to ride again!

Well, I think, without a doubt the ride that was the most fun for us was Grizzly River Run in California Adventures.
I was apprehensive about going on it because I wear hearing aids and knew I'd get wet, but I risked it with the family and we tucked my aids into a fanny pack.

Whatta hoot! We were SOAKED and laughing so hard coming off that thing I ran right back to the lineup to go again! It was a warm day anyway and the splashing just cooled us right off. Oddly enough we never did make it to Splash Mountain up there in the corner of Frontieland on that trip--maybe next time.
Other rides that left an impression: Star Tours. My oldest boy is a Star Wars fanatic, and this was the boys FIRST ride on visiting the park ( last August).
There were complete Dinsey-virgins and had no clue as to the degree of detail the rides go into. Needless to say, they were impressed and it set the tone for the rest of the trip.
Pirates of the Caribbean was right up there, simply because its just such a classic attraction.
Indiana Jones was also a thrill for them too.

I've had a lot of memorable rides, including one last ride on the Haunted Mansion that was so abandoned I got to waltz with a butler down the hallway.

But the best ride of all was this one:

I had a very unusual but fun experience on Star Tours about a year ago. The park was just closing as we were walking by that ride and we decided to jump in as our last ride. We were the last group to get on and apparently they must have already been preparing to close everything down because the sound was off. At first we were trying to yell for the cast members to turn on the sound, but it was no use, we were riding in silence. It however ended up being very cool because everyone on seemed to be regulars and most of the people in the ride were providing the script! The audio did turn on right at the end, but riding it in silence with just the fan's version of sound was pretty cool. :D
