Walt Disney Pictures is inviting fans to join the studio for the World Premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End at 6pm on Saturday, May 19, at Disneyland Park, to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The income for all ticket sales will go directly to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of America is a 501 © (3) tax-exempt organization. As such, financial contributions may be deductible for federal income tax purposes.

Main Street USA will be transformed into an exciting red carpet arrival for the anticipated premiere of the summer. Many Hollywood celebrities, as well as the film's stars, will attend. The event will be covered by media from around the world.

The studio's goal is to raise $3 million on behalf of the Make-A-Wish Foundation in celebration of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. The mission of Make-A-Wish Foundation is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

Tickets are $1,500 per person. The Walt Disney Company is subsidizing the entire cost of the event, so all of the income from ticket sales will go directly to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America and Make-A-Wish International.

The ticket includes admission to Disneyland Park starting at 6pm, May 19, with access to Big Thunder Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Indiana Jones, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean and Splash Mountain. You'll get complimentary parking and a buffet supper at the pre-screening private "Pirates party" in Frontierland, Adventureland, New Orleans Square, and Critter County. Ticket holders will get reserved seats, plus popcorn and soft drink to watch the digital presentation of the third installment on a giant screen with state-of-the-art surround sound in an outdoor amphitheatre built especially for this event on the Rivers of America.

Sounds like a chance for an amazing event. But I rather use my free tickets and use that $1500 x 4 for a trip to WDW ;)

. . . I wonder if I can convince my husband to let me spend that?

In which COP scene (i.e. which decade) would this quote best fit?

P.S. Just kidding!
:p  :geek: :)
If my wife weren't so accepting of my Disney obsession I would plot to convince her of some Disney spending too!

Disneyland Resort Press Release

WORLD PREMIERE CELEBRATION FOR DISNEY’S THIRD “PIRATES” ADVENTURE “PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD’S END” -- TO RAISE $3 MILLION FOR THE MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION®

STAR-STUDDED SWASHBUCKLING DISNEYLAND PREMIERE ON MAY 19TH IS THE HOTTEST EVENT OF THE YEAR; PUBLIC CAN PURCHASE TICKETS FOR THE FIRST TIME

Anaheim, California - April 13th, 2007 - The Walt Disney Company is helping to make wishes come true for children all over the world by donating proceeds from the highly anticipated World Premiere of Walt Disney Pictures/Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End,” to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America and Make-A-Wish® International, it was announced today by Dick Cook, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios. The event will take place on May 19th at Disneyland® Park in Anaheim, California, with all of the film’s stars expected to participate. This gala celebration for the third installment of the enormously popular “Pirates” saga will raise $3 million for Make-A-Wish efforts, with Disney providing an initial donation in excess of $1 million to the charities, in addition to underwriting the entire cost of the Premiere (so that 100 percent of the ticket income will benefit both Make-A-Wish organizations).

This is the first time that the public has been invited to participate in a “Pirates” Premiere. Individual tickets are priced at $1,500, and are now available for sale at www.piratespremiere.com (http://www.piratespremiere.com/). The Make-A-Wish Foundation of America and Make-A-Wish International are dedicated to granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions in order to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

Commenting on the announcement, Cook said, “Disney is dedicated to making dreams come true and we’re extremely proud to be lending our support to the Make-A-Wish Foundation with this benefit World Premiere of ‘Pirates’ to make a difference. The Studio is extremely excited about the upcoming release of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End’ and we’re pulling out all the stops to give it the send-off it deserves with a magnificent gala event at Disneyland. Disney has been a longtime supporter of this wonderful organization and we’re excited to be doing something special to bring smiles to the children and their families, giving them magical moments to share.”

Over the past 25 years, Disney has continued to support the Make-A-Wish cause, contributing more than $10 million in cash and in-kind donations on an annual basis. With more than 6,000 wishes granted each year including visits to the Disney Parks, Disney Cruises, meeting Disney Characters and visiting TV and movie sets, including “Pirates of the Caribbean” films, Disney-themed wishes continue to be the most popular requests.

“Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” picks up where the record-breaking 2006 smash hit left off, with our heroes Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) allied with Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) in a desperate quest to free Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) from his mind-bending trap in Davy Jones’ locker. With the terrifying ghost ship, The Flying Dutchman, and its commander Davy Jones under the control of the East India Trading Company, there is havoc on the Seven Seas. Navigating through treachery, betrayal and wild waters, the heroic trio must forge their way to exotic Singapore and confront the cunning Pirate Sao Feng (Chow Yun-Fat). Now headed beyond the very ends of the earth, each must ultimately choose a side in a final titanic battle – as not only their lives and fortunes, but the entire future of the freedom-loving Pirate way hangs in the balance. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Gore Verbinski from a screenplay written by Ted Elliott & Terry Rossio, our beloved cast sets sail again on a fresh new adventure in May 2007.

My friend who works for print publications has to work the event again and I hope I can tag along again. It's a cool event to attend but 1,500 is quite steep. Its for a good cause but hurts the wallet. Not sure if I would shell out the bucks to go. One of those things you have to do once in your life time though. I say go for it if the wallet allows!

It is the holder of the wallet that would have to allow for me. He holds pretty tight to that thing. hehe

I guess if you had that amount of disposable income...

$1.5K is more than we spend for Airfare, Park Hoppers and Hotel costs on our annual 5-day DL vacation!

But, would that ever be fun!!!

If I can use it as a tax deduction, it is worth it!

$1,400 of the $1,500 is eligible for a tax deduction, but you need to normally itemize your deductions to make this worth it (fill out a schedule A).

I'm still shaking my head in amazement. Why anyone would blow 1500 bucks for a night of crowds, shoving, and an outdoor movie I can't imagine.

Heck, if I wanted the crowds, the shoving, and the movie, I'll just go to the local drive in when its starts playing pirates, and start a riot. Its pretty much the same thing.

Its not to late to get involved in the anti pirates lifestyle, you get all the benefits of the original PotC, and save a heck of a lot of money in the meantime! Common people you know you want to;)

I was lucky enough to be at Disneyland for last year's premiere. In my opinion, during the red carpet evening event anyway, the crowds and shoving were apparent for those of us who were looking in on the red carpet. When folks finally walked the red carpet on Main Street, U.S.A., I was surprised (and kind've envious) that they weren't celebrities at all. They looked like friends of friends of friends of friends :p walking the carpet on their way to NOS. Eventually a lot more familiar celebrity faces finally appeared on the carpet.

For $1500, I assume they'll get to walk on the red carpet too, no?

Yep!

There is also a party before which you can attend, and the rides and fireworks after the movie.

Plus, you get to see the movie at the premiere, perhaps ride some rides next to celebrities, or sit next to them at the movie (although I doubt this with the tickets that are being sold. They may just lump everyone who bought tickets together, and that is all you get.)

So, if you are totally into celebrities, this may be worth it!

It took about 3 hours to convince my husband to purchase tickets :) I am a very lucky girl. Yes, we get to walk the red carpet. We are also taking our 17 year old son. I doubt we get to sit next to any stars during the movie but we do get to mingle with everyone before the movie and after (there is a buffet dinner). We have a week long DL vacation set for May 5 (celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary). When we get home, a week later we need to head back down for the Premiere. Yipper, it is definitely a lot of money. It is also a once in a lifetime thing. This is a huge splurge for us. We are all psyched!!!

There very well may be a portion of the pre-movie party you can't get into (probably Club 33 and/or the Disney Gallery), and that will be where the "A" list stars are escorted. The film's stars will be the last to walk the carpet, and will only get there shortly before the movie starts.

AVP, none of that surprises me. As for Club 33, that's ok cuz I have been there twice. This evening is not just a "star" thing. It's the whole experience. Don't worry, you are not raining on my parade (I'm used to people trying to knock my fun. I'm not saying you are, but there are others). We are all very excited! It will be a wonderful 7 hour evening :) It will be a night we will never forget. Like my son said, "If you can't enjoy life then what's the use." We will definitely be enjoying this night.

YES! I wish I was going. Actually my DH said I could go but I don't want to go alone being 7 months preggo and all. Have a great time and don't let others knock your fun, just have great time and let the rest of know all about it!

Thank you very much, mckygirl99. Your words have been the second kindest words I have received since we purchased our tickets. Everyone else has been so negative and snotty. I wish you were going......

Congrats on your upcoming bundle of joy :)
