I searched the forum for this question and didn't see it anywhere. Sorry if this is a repeat.

We are arriving for our next Disneyland Vacation coincidentally the first day the new Nemo ride opens, June 11. Does anyone know what the proceedures are for a ride grand opening? Does the ride open when the park opens? Will there be a special ceremony?

Also a related question, does anyone happen to know if this will be a fast pass ride?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.Usually, there are ceremonies. No fastpass is the rumor. Ride may or may not open on time. There is a rumor it may be delayed a week.

Last I heard it was June or July. Very vague on the actual opening date at this point. There will not be fastpass for a while, but I suspect there will be fastpass eventually.

It's being delayed about another two months to allow for the installation of the loop. :p

(ah thanks to all those space mtn fanatics that will never get old!)

Given the capacity of the ride and the number of people in the park I wouldn't get my hopes up on getting on, even if it is open.

wasn't there an article somewhere abotu how the lines are going to be so screwed up and long as hell because they did the math with 8 subs, each holding a certain # of people, plus the time of the ride which will be the longest in DL like at 15 to 16 minutes long, that only around 10K a day can ride it when on busy days DL gets around 55-60K....this will be intresting.

If the subs hold 20 people, those calculations would be right.

FYI, the subs each hold 40 people.

Each of 8 subs should cycle thru in about 20 minutes (320 people)

That is about 960 people an hour (plus the few folks that will get to watch the video in the Alternative Viewing room designed for folks in wheelchairs).

Now, what happens if a Sub breaks, or more likely, someone throws up/makes a mess that requires a sub to go offline....

So on a summer day (say 8 to Midnight), the maximum amount of folks is about 16,000 folks if everything goes right, more than likely it will be somewhat less...

As for Opening day, based on what they did for the re-opening of Space Mountain and the opening of Monsters, Inc. They will have the area blocked off in the morning for a Media event which cannot be viewed by park guests. Once the event is over, and the stages/platforms are removed, they will open the ride for guests (if DOSH approves the ride).

I presume they will set up a "queue" near the area, where folks can get in line while the Media event is going on, then they will be escorted to the attraction (to make sure nobody cuts in line).

I don't know anything about this ride. Is it going to be at all similar to the Nemo ride in WDW?

When the park opens at 8am (all summer long, right?) you can't get through the gates until after 8, so how would that work? Wouldn't it be a mad dash to the subs after the gates open?

There are some similarities, but they will be different.

First, Florida uses the Omnimover system, and DL will use the Subs that have been in the park since the late 50's.

They built an additional show building and made a slight change in the track, but they are pretty much using the old caverns and docking area.

The subs will move to different show scenes and much of the projection equipment will be similar to Florida. The Story line in DL will be different and will be longer (about 14 minutes from leaving the dock to return).

Thanks Darkbeer. Everytime I hear "It's a biiggg, blue woorrllddd" I think of Disneyworld. It'd be weird to hear that song in my home Park!

Just out of curiosity, what is WDW Nemo's ride capacity?

thats a bit different since its a continus ride, like the Haunted Mansion (which has 131 doombuggies and Phantom Manor has 160) so you just pump and pump the people on

Just curious why there would be no fast passes for this ride.
We are going over the 4th of July- I am sure we are in for a LONG wait

Fastpass makes the standby line take even longer, and if the subs have super low capacity it will make the standby line take FOREVER!!!

I'm not sure where they would put the fastpass machines, and I personally hope that they do not put Fastpass in at all.

Just a note. On Omnimover attractions (like the Haunted Mansion), the number of vehicles has absolutely no bearing on the throughput. It all has to do with how fast they are moving, whether you have 50 cars or 500. If you can load people in faster and make the cars move a little quicker, you can get more people through. It's that simple.

yeah I know, sounds like you just repeated what I said in different words

Bytebear

Actually, by stating that Haunted Mansion has 131 doombuggies and Phantom Manor has 160, you implied that the large number of vehicles made some sort of difference in throughput.

Hmmm...Any way people who are willing to "sacrifice" the sub experience will be allowed to use the alternate viewing room? You know...um...fill it up more if there aren't enough handicapped guests requiring it?

Just curious :) And thinking that on occassion there are young kids or claustrophobic individuals who won't want to go underwater, but still want to experience the ride.

This also is the reason the Railroad has been closed for so long. :fez:

That is a really good question, and a great idea.

why is the ride going to be so long? is it because the subs move slowly?

Yes, the old Sub Lagoon Voyage was closer to 10 minutes, but due to the need to time the Subs to match the show and dialog, the subs will be going slower thru the caverns/show buildings.

Ok, lets do some math... There are going to be 8 subs total. Each sub will hold 20 people. Im going to be fair and say that the cycle time for a sub is 15 mins. Though this may end up being correct. So...

8 * 20 = 160 people
Now, thats like 160 people per 15 mins, so...
160 * 4 = 640 guests per hour.
Now, a full summer day will be from 8 am to 12 pm
640 * 16 = 10,240 guests in 16 hrs.

Now, Im guessing that they will close the line at some point of the day, and let whats left cycle through. So, the ride may work around 11K people through per day. Also, Im guessing the cycle time will eventually be a little shorter then 15 mins, but I did 15 mins to keep the math simple. And Im guessing that that is what it will be until the CMs there get used to working it then it will move to maybe a little more capacity per day. But no more than 500 more people per day really.

But keep in mind, this line is no Fastpass (There is no indication of Fastpass machines going in at the station) and will START really far away. Im guessing somewhere by the off-road section of Autopia or even farther back. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if it went all the way back to IASM. I can see it happening, can you?

I cant imagine what a mess it will be if Subs has to evac during the day. Autopia would have to close as the evac routes are back through there. Pray that you are not around that end of Tomorrowland if that even happens.

So, hope that makes it clear for some people.
