Hi,

We haven't seen the canoes open for quite some time. Does anyone know if it's a seasonal attraction?

Thanks!

As far as I know, they only run when the park is expecting large crowds, like Christmas, Spring Break, and summer.

When we were there the last weekend in January, we rode them.

I was there this month and the park map said that the attraction is open seasonally and on weekends. I haven't seen them in a very long time because I tend to go during off-season on weekdays. I haven't seen the Columbia running for anything other than F! in a very long time either.

Unfortunately the Columbia and the Explorer Canoes usually only operate on high attendance days, and in the peak seasons. While this is almost always true it is possible that you might catch the canoes on a regular day, just with extremely cut back hours (usually 11:00 roughly to about 4:00). With the Columbia it might be possible to catch it when the Mark Twain Riverboat is not operating because of refurbishment or any other reason. IMO the Rivers of America rides are the best of any disney park, and I know quite alot about them. Feel free to PM me if you want more information.:) :)

We were there Tuesday-Saturday, the first week in December and they were not open until Friday.

On Thursday the Mark Twain was taking a rest so the Columbia took passengers around the rivers for a change. I jumped at the opportunity to take it. Passengers can go below decks to check out the crew quarters, mess hall, etc. The crew fires the cannon twice near the (non) burning settler's cabin. It was pretty cool for a change from the Mark Twain.

Thank you everyone for your replies. Like Wendi, I usually go off-season and weekdays. I'll try again on Wednesday. It's just something the kids have really wanted to do and we never seem to time it right.

Thanks again!
