I didn't 'officially' celebrate my birthday at Disneyland. Meaning, I didn't book a party.

For my 40th {aha, March 7!} we went up, just the Hubster and myself. I had heard all of this about getting a birthday sticker and I went straight to the cart on Main Street {right next to the signs that say ride closures, etc.}. You can get it at the Guest Services on Main Street also but that line was way too long for me.

Anywho, I made sure they put on there that it was my fortieth and wore it all day. It was a lot of fun just wearing that; CMs will wish you happy birthday and it is fun. It is always a nice surprise to have them call you by name.

Also, when it was my husbands birthday, I made him get one. :D We were getting off of the shuttle and someone yelled out his name {pretty good eyes, I must say!} and we all turned around and it was the guy on the back of the shuttle. He said 'Hey Hubster {name has been changed to protect the non-pad members}, Happy Birthday!!'

So. Yep. That is all I can say. Get your tortillas at DCA and have your fun all around!!

The birthday party at Plaza Inn is fun. More geared towards kiddos. We did this last summer for my sons 10th birthday. It is 10.00 per person whether you want to pay or not. You get to decorate a giant(although somewhat dry) cupcake with three colors of icing, sprinkles and M&Ms. Also you get a souvinier cup with fruit punch it in. A guy called Patty Cake comes out and does some singing and gets everyone to participate. Later on there is a party parade where you parade around Plaza Inn and then Mickey and Minnie come out to help celebrate and you can do pictures!! My kids loved it. So if that sounds like fun, then go for it. You get a discount if you are an AP holder. Happy Early Birthday!!:)

GRANT ME A DREAM!" hahaha...

we spent my brother's birthday there. it wasn't a party, really. we just invited all of his AP friends. there was like, 5.
i want to celebrate my birthday there one day. but i'm blocked out on mine (april 2...in case you'd want to know. ;]) so I'm hoping to go in late march. i hope you have fun!

(oh and i love your site, findingmickey! there's only one hidden mickey that i've found. now i'm going to find all the rest, i hope. =])

This past August I celebrated my 33rd Birthday at Disneyland with my sister. Through a corporate connection my sister had at the company she works for, she was able to get us a reservation at Club 33, so I turned 33 at Club 33! If you work in corporate america it wouldn't hurt to ask around and see if any of the vendors your company uses or even the company you work for has a Club 33 membership and can get you in. I never dreamed that I would ever set foot in Club 33 and through this connection, my sister gave me the best Birthday present ever. We had a fabulous dinner at Club 33 and then were able to watch Fantasmic! and Fireworks from the Club's balcony.

I also got the birthday button at City Hall and I must thank all the CM's who noticed my button and wished me a Happy Birthday. Having that button was so much fun. I wore it the whole trip! :)

I've gone to disneyland to celebrate 3 different birthdays (not my own) and every time the birthday person got a sticker, but I have seen people with the buttons. Do you have to pay for the button, or just request it?

I've had family members celebrate birthdays in the park, like at the Plaza Inn. Yea, it leans a little more toward the kids but it's still fun. And a visit from the chracters is always fun. You can also go to city hall and tell them it's your birthday and they will give you a special sticker.

They have buttons now. They write your name on them and how old you have just turned. Both my kids got them, and they are a lot nicer than the stickers.

A lot of the CM's noticed my daughters button, and stopped to wish her a happy birthday.

My son will be 10 soon and he loves Goofy's. If they know it is his birthday will they bring him out a cupcake or something and sing to him for free or do you have to buy a birthday package?

If you go to city hall to get him a birthday button they usually tell you that you have a birthday phone call and I'm pretty sure that it's Goofy on the phone. I've also been in the Mad Hatter and the CM saw my brother-in-law's button and asked him if he had gotten his phone call yet. If they don't offer it to you in city hall you could hint towards it, but since you're son is young they will probably offer it, they probably didn't with my brother-in-law cause he's a "grown up".

EDIT: sorry i thought your post said he loves GOOFY, not GOOFY'S. hope that was useful information anyways :)

We ALWAYS celebrate a birthday at Disneyland. Notice I did not specify whose. Our family takes turns so that we all can have a special day in the park.

Our day starts with getting a birthday button, balloons and a signed character greeting at the hotel. If you are not staying on-site, you can get a sticker from City Hall. If you are staying on-site, you can call guest relations, tell them you have a birthday and a "magical" surprise--button, balloon and greeting--is delivered to your room.

Now, no birthday is complete in DL--to us--without a party at the Plaza Inn. It is a hoot. You get these birthday hats with mouse ears--everyone in your party--and then are escorted to your table where you have a great plastic birthday cup filled with punch--wipe them out and you have a cup to take home. Then, a cake with various frostings/toppings is brought to your table. Everyone decorates their own cake and Pat E Cake--the host for the event--has a contest to see who decorates the best cake.

After the cake--a special pair comes to greet everyone. The birthday person--and a few friends--can then get their picture made with Mickey and (usually) Minnie. However, we have had Mickey and Goofy one time.

Why do we ALWAYS do the party? It is $10 per person for 1 1/2-2 hours of a break. You are sitting down, drinking, decorating & eating. Then, you get a very rare opportunity--a pict with Mickey and Minnie (together) with NO LINE. If you live close to DL this is probably not a big deal. However, we live in Texas and when we can have a break and get our picture made without waiting, we are all for it. Plus, we love the little cups :)

In our hall, we have pictures of all of our parties there over the years. It brings a smile to my face to see how we have changed over the years.

Blessings!

We are going to do the birthday party at Plaza Inn for our son's birthday. Does anyone have any pictures of the cake you make or what goes on at the party? My son is so excited, he has been telling everyone.

You are very welcome! I was very happy to have found that article and the picture of the cake that they can make. My son hasn't seen the picture yet and doesn't want to because he wants to be totally surprised...LOL. We will be going the week of May 11th. When will you be going? Please let us all know how it went and how your son enjoyed it. :)

Thanks disneyfan4ever for directing us to the article on celebrating birthdays at Disneyland. I didn't remember seeing it before but it answered my questions. I think I'll do the birthday package at Goofy's with the cupcake for the birthday boy. For $5 extra per child (we'll be a small group) I think that will be more than reasonable. I can't wait for this surprise trip to play out!

I just celebrated my 30th birthday at the parks. I wore my button, got my tortillas, had a birthday breakfast, got the free cake and a song, bought birthday goody bags at the character breakfast - and the part I liked the best... had my autograph book signed with a HAPPY BIRTHDAY from the different characters.

Happy EARLY Birthday !!! Have FUN !!!

Edited to ADD:

I saw mainly little kids at the Plaza Inn - so me and my son didn't do the birthday "party" I had scheduled there. Although they got some great pictures with Mickey and Minnie with a Happy Birthday backdrop. It seemed "cheesy" (pun not intended) to me and I had already had a great time at not one, BUT TWO character breakfasts ! (Plaza Inn was $10 per person)

Stitch hit me in the head with my own birthday balloons, Pluto wanted to steal my cake, Alice changed my autograph book to say
UN birthday instead of Birthday.

I say do a character breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen. Be silly, act like a kid, buy the cute little goody bags that say "I celebrated my birthday at Goofy's Kitchen", get your free cake and balloons, take lots of pictures and get autographs. (About $22 per person ?)

PLUS wear your birthday button for your whole trip. The random strangers and cast members telling you Happy Birthday is great.
