Just wondering what kinds of things everyone reads to keep up their Disney spirit when you can't actually be at the Park.

Also, if this group goes more for the "official" or "unofficial" in its Disney literary tastes?

Mouse Tales (http://www.mouseshoppe.com/product.cfm?ProductID=950) by David Koenig

and

Walt Disney's Railroad Story (https://rrecor.securesites.net/Carolwood/Mercantile/Books/WDRRStory.html) by Michael Broggie

:D

I picked up Walt Disney's Happy Place (https://rrecor.securesites.net/Carolwood/Mercantile/Books/HappyPlace.html) by Michael Broggie yesterday and was fortunate to be able to have Michael sign it. My kids and I haven't had a chance to read it yet. Maybe I should get off the computer and do that right now. :D

We also have many of The E Ticket magazines (http://www.mouseshoppe.com/directory.cfm?CategoryID=350). I have no idea how many, though.

I'm a designer, so I was all over "The Disney Treasures". The follow-up, "The Disney Keepsakes," wasn't as novel or clever tho' I felt.

I have The Disney Treasures. It's a lot of fun with all the replicas of halloween masks, and such. :p

I have a book from the late 1970s called "The Magic of Disneyland and Walt Disney World". That book is a hoot! Not only does it show Disneyland's Tomorrowland in it's heyday, but all the whacky 70's fashions are fun to see.

Somehow, the photographers of this book selected what must be the most "aesthetically challenged" Alice in Disney face character history. (Sorry, I know that wasn't very nice.)

I also have a Disneyland book called "Traditions and Transitions", or something like that. I think it's one of the the best park souvenier books ever. Unfortunately, it's no longer available.

I wish I had a copy of The Nickel Tour. Last I heard, those books were selling for big bucks on E-Bay.

I Heart Disneyland!

My granddaughter, Michele, said that this is also her favorite book. She recently saw it at her Aunt Sharon's house when she visited California. She highly recomends it. She learned lots of new fun facts.:)

I love the Mouse Tales books. I just got The Nickel Tour, 2nd edition on Amazon through a second party seller for $179.00 brand new, still wrapped in plastic!:fez: Have not opened it yet, I am waiting for a nice quiet moment when I can sit down in front of the fireplace with a cup of cocoa and the book and enjoy the memories! I also like Inside The Mouse, Mousecatraz and The Disneyland's That Never Were. I have a giant Disney book library. I try to get everything I can written about Disney. I really wish I had a collection of the old Disney Magazines. I have 3 issues of it, but they are from the last 3 years it was published. I will have to keep looking to see if there are any collectors out there willing to part with their mags. I am currently reading Disney War which is fascinating! I also try to look through the travel guides everyday to get a feel for the parks and look at the pictures of the parks. I buy the guides every year to keep the most current issue in my library and donate the old ones to thrift shops.
Today, I was just looking through my National Geographic August 1963 issue with the Disney feature. I am so lucky to have found that one for 75 cents at a local newstand. I checked e-bay and one is selling there for 25.00, but I am hanging on to mine. I love the Disney articles and pics! What a great thread, two of my favoritist things in the whole wide world, Disney and reading books!!!!!!!!:geek: Besides my DH and Disneycats! ;)

What was the original cover price for The Nickel Tour? I'm having a hard time justifying the prices I'm seeing. However, if it originally cost over a $100, that's a little less stinging.

If you click on the link it will take you to the publisher. The book's not available but the price was $75.

^^ Thanks, Maus. As I suspected, the price for Nickel tour is now more than 100% over the original cover price. The demand for this book is huge. I don't understand why it's out of print.

Started listening to this in the car yesterday; pretty good so far. Although it was odd that it mentions one problem with adding sound to cartoons was the psychological hurdle of people accepting animals that talk. I don't know, if people could wrap their heads around a mouse flying an airplane, I think they could make the leap to talking mouse without much difficulty.

I come here. :)

My favorite "in the mood" books are the Carlene Thie series of Disneyland's early years as chronicled by photograher Mell Kirkpatrick.

I got the Gabler bio for Christmas and am having a hard time getting into it. I'm not quite sure why...but it's a good read along with the "Your Host Walt Disney" and "Silly Symphonies 2" DVDs. They complement each other well.

I know that there is a Hidden Mickey book for WDW, but is there one for DL?
