My wife and I had dinner at the Napa Rose and sat in the second row for the early saturday program. We throughly enjoyed the performance, this was our first time at the CLP, we are planning on next year now.

The park in no way seemed to be crowded, Astro Blasters line was always 10 to 20 minutes, Pirates was 10 min, Jack Skellingtons was 5 min or less, we even walked right on to spash mountain. Everywhere outside the park there were signs that the parks were very busy, we just didn't see it. Perhaps a ploy to get people in CA??

Hi Cabozone,

You said you went to the Napa Rose for Candlelight. We went to Hook's and were given "Silver" tickets for the show, so we where on the very far edge in the 2nd row. We couldn't see the orchestra, but had a great time anyway.

I'm wondering if you were given better seats for going to Napa. Were you in the center section or one of the side sections? If so, I may decide to go for one of the more expensive restaurants next year.

BTW, we were there all day, and we also found the attraction lines surprisingly short. The parade and show crowds were a different matter though.

Thanks,
Jason

I think everyone that had a dinner package had "Silver". I got reservations for Yamabuki (excellent BTW) and had "Silver" as well.

From what I heard from a Cast Member talking to a Guest, there was "Silver", "Blue", "Red", and "Open". Two lines, one for dinner package Guests and the other for invited Guests.

This doesn't include the VIP reserved seating Guests that sat behind the front center Silver section.

I got to sit in the fourth row from the front, right side of the section if you're facing the stage, in the center. It was wonderful.

I guess it also depends on where you were in line. We got in line at around 7:00pm (like the tickets instructed us to) and we were about 20 people away from the very front of the wait line. They filled in the front center first and then worked it's way from there.

We got there an hour before the early Sunday show. Stood in front of the Opera House, had an interesting discussion (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showpost.php?p=983089&postcount=563) with a lady who betared me for staning on her niece's jacket as she pulled it off the top of my shoes (I had carefully nudged my toes under it. :~D ), leading TLMt and me to start reminiscing about the 20-plus Candlelight Processions we had witnessed before we watched an underrehearsed Andy Garcia say "Behold!" about ten more times then there were in the script. At the end, he thanked the orchestra and choir "for making me look so good."

I heard that Hector Elizondo made a mention of "the heavenly ghost proclaiming 'Glory to God in the highest'..." on Saturday. When I asked the same guy about Garcia's late-show performance he told me that Garcia didn't mess it up quite as badly as the early show. As if anybody else keeps track of the "Behold!"s...

Sunday's performers were good, as usual, with some songs sung with lyrics in French and Spanish, givibg everybody a chance to feel left out. ;) It was surprisingly uncrowded, with the crowds disspating rapidly after one passed the Magic Store.

Back when Candlelight was really mainly an event staged for the many Park Participant companies' VIPs and their families and some other groups of VIPs...and when Saturday and Sunday's guest narrators were the same person...they always deliberately scheduled the most important VIPs for the Sunday night performance...because they knew that Saturday's were often "flubbed" and that by Sunday, the narrators would likely perform better.

And having been to both Saturdays and Sundays the same year for many years...they were absolutely correct in that assessment.

We went to the Napa Rose also, and, aside from the really, really nice engraved wine glasses they gave us, the seating wasn't better than anyone else's (we had silver, and were able to sit near the front row).

I posted the menu, a review of the meal, and lots and lots of pictures of the event at this thread:

Here was our view at the Sunday 5:30 performance:

My son apparently thought he should be the one doing the narration, as you can hear in the below clip:

But then he fell asleep as well (I guess that music is a pretty good sedative Frogberto!)

Oh, and regarding seats, clearly our problem was just that we got to the show only minutes before it started so most seats were taken.

So my only complaint is that the reservation time/service speed didn't allow enough time before the show. Although we arrived at Hooks early for our reservation, they didn't seat us until 15 minutes after our time, and then by the time we were done eating we had to run (literally) all the way back to the park. If I had realized we were going to be that tight on time, I would have asked them to bring out everything at once and pack the desserts to go. Next year, I'd prefer they make the reservation times earlier and/or allow us to go for an earlier lunch rather than dinner immediately before the show.
