We were in the park yesterday and there was a HUGE scavenger hunt going on. Teams running around with clipboards, Polaroid cameras, and number stickers on their arms. My questions are these (1) Does any one know how I can get involved with one of these (2) Anyone reading this involved in yesterday's hunt??

It's an non-Disney authorized event put on by the people of MousePlanet--see below-
What is MouseAdventure?
The short answer is: "MouseAdventure is a popular and fun quest-based event produced by MousePlanet and held twice a year at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California"

The answer you're probably looking for is a little more complicated than that. In a nutshell, MouseAdventure is the signature community event for MousePlanet.com readers. Part scavenger hunt, part road rally, part trivia challenge, MouseAdventure is a team-based competition that guarantees you will never look at the Disneyland Resort in the same way again. You'll notice buildings you usually walk past (do you know the address of the Main Street Music company?); colors you might not notice (how many purple cars are there on the Sun Wheel?); and little details you don't even acknowledge (cannonballs on City Hall? You bet—we've seen 'em).

When we say MouseAdventure is fun, that isn't quite the word that captures the experience. There's a reason we have thread after thread on our MousePad discussion boards both prior to and after the game—people bond over this thing like nobody's business. Now in it's 7th year, MouseAdventure has grown each and every event, and there are a number of teams that have participated in all 12 editions.

MouseAdventure is held twice a year, once in the fall (usually October) and once in the spring (usually March or April). Some events are held in Disneyland, others in Disney's California Adventure, and two have incorporated both parks. There are also a variety of event formats, each with its own rules and strategies.

In the Classic format, teams solve a collection of puzzle-based "quests," ranked by difficulty from "A" to "E," and earn points for each correct answer. The team with the highest score wins!

The Mad Scramble format presents the same type of quests, but requires teams to correctly solve one task before starting another. In this format, the team that can correctly solve all the quests in the least amount of time will prevail.

The Enchanted Race takes this concept one step further, sending teams on a longer and far more challenging race to the finish line. This is our toughest event, and registration is limited to returning MouseAdventure teams only.

Our newest format, the PhotoAdventure, presents a new twist, because every puzzle or task will lead teams to take a specific photograph inside the park.

In addition to the core quests of each game, a variety of side games add another element to the competition. Teams might receive a sheet of Eyespy photos, and be directed to identify mystery pictures taken within the parks. Perhaps they will be asked to find and obtain a list of Scavenger Hunt items. Trivia is usually optional, but a strong grasp of Disney minutiae can help set your team apart.

Because MouseAdventure attracts both die-hard returning teams as well as brand-new competitors, we offer teams the option of two difficulty levels at most events - one designed for those who prefer a more intense game (usually returning teams or new teams glutton for punishment), and another for those who just want to spend a fun day learning something new about the Disneyland Resort.

After the event is over, the winners are recognized in a post-game Award Ceremony, held somewhere on Disney property. Players have the opportunity to relax, mingle, win raffle prizes and heap praise and adoration on the winning teams.

Our next event

The Fall, 2006 event will be held on Sunday, November 5th. Once again we will be hosting two different MouseAdventure events, and it is up to you to decide which you want to do. Do you want to test your skills in our first-ever PhotoAdventure, or test your limits in The Enchanted Race?

For new players, players who like to spend a relaxing day at the park, or teams who just want a more laid back experience, we present the first-ever PhotoAdventure, our Open Division event. The PhotoAdventure is open to all teams, regardless of experience, and will take place entirely inside Disneyland park. Teams will need to bring their own camera to participate in this event.

For our returning players, we proudly announce the second edition of MouseAdventure: The Enchanted Race. The Enchanted Race is an invitational event, open only to teams that have previously participated in a MouseAdventure event. The Enchanted Race may take teams to any location within the Disneyland Resort, and is a much more demanding event.

Your MouseAdventure team must consist of at least two players and no more than four players. Some people like having four brains on their team; some teams work better with just two or three players. Each player on your team must be at least 13-years-old. Non-registered friends and companions may not accompany you during the game. Children under 13 should not assist you with the game, but may accompany teams participating in the Open Division only. Children under 13 may not accompany teams participating in the Invitational Division.

Registration is open through November 1 or when we reach capacity, whichever comes first, so register your team as soon as possible to ensure your place. It is up to you to decide whether you want 2, 3, or 4 people on your team, but we offer no guarantee that there won't be advantages for larger teams. (In fact, we can pretty much assure you that larger teams will have an advantage in The Enchanted Race)

Both Fall, 2006 events are scheduled to last up to six hours, although the Open Division game will be far less intense than the Enchanted Race. Counting the time from morning check-in to the awards presentation in early evening, MouseAdventure pretty much takes up the entire day. If you are attending from out of town, consider staying Sunday night and leaving town on Monday morning so you don't have to rush off as soon as the event is over.

The old man forgot to link to the official MouseAdventure page (http://www.mouseplanet.com/mouseadventure/) which he liberally quoted above.

MousePlanet started advertising this particular event on on our home page about 6 to 8 weeks ago.

This was/is a pre-MouseAdventure thread (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=60763) in the Lounge forum. Here is a post-MA thread (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=62587) in the same forum.

Yeah what do you win and tell us more about it please.

Regarding prizes:

There are smaller prize categories - door prizes and so forth, that include items like individual copies of E-Ticket Magazine, DVDs, etc.

For the larger prize categories, we have a prize table and each winning team gets a certain number of points to 'spend' on the prize table. In the past, prizes ahve included coffee table style books about Disney, subscriptions to E-ticket magazines Reyn Spooner shirts (http://www.mouseshoppe.com/directory.cfm?CategoryID=411), Disney collectables from Walt Disney Classics (http://www.charmingshoppe.com/directory.cfm?CategoryID=153), Jim Shore (http://www.charmingshoppe.com/directory.cfm?CategoryID=27), and Lenox (http://www.charmingshoppe.com/directory.cfm?CategoryID=136), to name a few.
