The narrators for the WDW processional have been named for some time now (Rita Moreno, Cuba Gooding Junior, Chita Rivera). I can't find any information on DLR's event. Does anyone know who they will be?

I don't know if Disneyland's has been announced yet. But this past August I made the following post when someone else asked the same question:

I think this has to do with the history and tradition of Disneyland's Town Square Candlelight vs. Walt Disney World's.

At Disneyland...Town Square Candlelights have always been almost an unpublished/unadvertised event that was never meant to draw more business like most heavily promoted events do.

At Walt Disney World, this is a regular scheduled major entertainment event with far-in-advance bookings that span performance dates over many weeks, and is heavily advertised.

At Disneyland...they've always been known to pay nothing or next to nothing (scale) for their Town Square Guest Speakers. At Disneyland...it's usually always been more of an "invite" than a "hire." What happens is they usually invite the "big name" who they want and that person (if interested) usually gives a conditional agreement to appear. What this means if that they will appear if no other better big buck offers come up and they remain available. They usually agree to finally give their firm commitment one way or the other X number of weeks prior to Candlelight. And it's usually not that far in advance.

Walt Disney World "contracts" and pays their speakers as any other sort of "talent" performance agreement.

Therefore, Disneyland usually has a back-up "short list" of possible speakers that they know they can get at short notice. Very often they have to fall back on this backup list, as their first choice becomes unavailable near the last moment. You can often tell if they had to fall back on the backup list by the "stature" of the person that ends up showing up. ;)

Because of this special nature of Disneyland's Town Square Candlelights...they don't usually advertise far in advance who the Guest Speaker is, because they don't know for sure if they will make it. And they don't want folks to be making their plans just because who the Guest Speaker is...because it's very possible that that Guest Speaker might not show up.

If they have announced Disneyland's speaker by now...perhaps someone can chime in with name.

:)

From today's MousePlanet DLR update (http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=dl061030xx#NewsAndViews):

Candlelight Processional

A reminder that online registration will open for Candlelight Processional dining packages this Sunday (November 5). Unlike previous years when the dinner package required spending a certain amount of money from the regular menu (and frequently people ended up purchasing food they didn't want), this year's plans are just a flat fee depending on the restaurant. Unfortunately, along with this also comes limited specified menu selections. Non-alcoholic drinks are included.

Each of the six restaurants will have two seatings: One at 3:30 p.m. (for the 5:30 p.m. performance) and another at 5:30 p.m. (for the 8:00 p.m. show).

All guests can register for the two least expensive categories but the seatings at Napa Rose in the Grand Californian Hotel are restricted to reservations made by annual passholders.

At $50 per person are Hook's Pointe (Disneyland Hotel) and Storytellers Cafe (Grand Californian Hotel). For $75 per person you can choose from Granville's Steakhouse (Disneyland Hotel), Yamabuki (Paradise Pier Hotel), or The Vineyard Room (Disney's California Adventure). Napa Rose, which again is restricted to annual passholders, costs $125 per person.

And before you ask, we still don't know who the narrator will be for the performances. Odds are, you'll have to make your reservation without this information.

Hector Elizando and Andy Garcia Better than Marie Osmond but not in the league of James Earl Jones. I think Disney could have done better - no wonder they didn't announce the speakers until the tickets were all sold. Nice.

Nice. :rolleyes:Personally, I would have loved to have seen Elizondo do it. For past narrators, I badgerd Disney enough that they gave me a past list of narrators. 2001 * David Ogden StiersToo bad they couldn't have him back for a third time. As far as I know he is still under contract with Disney for voice-overs. Impressive list. ;)

Hi Malcon10t,
I thought Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. was one of the narrators, maybe in 1984, 1988 or 1997, when you have Joseph Campanella down for all those times?

I seem to even remember EZJ was pictured in one of the Disney publications, shown narrating the CP. I know Cary Grant was in one of the photos too.

I seem to recal EZJ also, but perhaps he was at WDW. Opus might have a better idea.

Curiouser and curiouser...

We've seen the CP at WDW once, with Robert Urich (after his cancer was in remission, he gave a very moving personal testimony during the CP!), but not with EZJ there. He may have done it there other times, we just didn't see him there.

Also, one of the times we saw the CP was a few years back at DL, when they had it in the Fantasyland Theatre, or whatever they call where they're doing the Princess school now. That time, the narrator was Stephen Collins, from 7th Heaven, but I don't even see his name on the list!

Not the CP, but...Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. narrates the telling of the Christmas story/play in Solvang each year. Sometimes he's there in person, sometimes it's a recording.

Doing a search of MousePad, they show Stephen Collins doing the Sunday narration in 2002 with Mickey Rooney. Interesting. I will email Disney and ask if more might be missing.
