I was curious if anyone would like to share an experience where during an attraction, it malfunctioned or broke down, and you had to be escorted off.

We had an experience last year on Splash Mountain where it broke down mid-attraction, and we were escorted out through a sidedoor and guided around the "back scenes," where we were asked to not take any photos. It was an experience I'm sure I won't have again, but I was curious if anyone has had a similar experience.

In being escorted off, we saw cast members backstage snacking and relaxing in walled-off areas. Quite the view, and quite the experience.

Years and years ago when it first opened my DH and I had to walk off of the Indiana Jones ride. We were in the part where the "darts" are being blown. I thought it was awesome 'cause we got to see what it looked like with the lights on, although it did take away some of the "magic". We teased the guy that was "driving" that it was his fault, lol.

This one time on Space Mountain the ride stopped cause I put my hands up.... The beams took my hands off and Disney paid me to not say anything. Im lucky though because I walked out of there alive... with no hands, but alive!

Two years ago, Snow White broke down in the middle of the ride for us. My husband and I were with our then barely 1 year old daughter. Liights came on, and a cast member led us out, car by car. It took away ALL the magic IMHO - it was just a big black room with lots of track laid out on the floor (I was a bit afraid of tripping with the baby in my arms) and the characters/scenery/etc. all looked a but worn. But it was a bit of excitement for disney nerds like us...

wow you type really well for no hands...tell me do you do it with a pencil in your mouth and peck?

I always had a fear of this happening.... I think "MythBusters" should do a segment on it!

I, too, got stuck on Splash Mountain. We were escorted out of the ride. It was odd to see the place with the lights on, but the thing that creeped me out was that all of the animatronics were still going -- with no sound.

Animals whose mouths are moving should be singing, darnit!!!

They gave us a "go to the front of the line" pass for any other attraction. Since it was pretty late, there were no lines for anything, but we used it on BTMRR anyway.

We got stuck on Roger Rabbit a couple of weeks ago. They bring a board out and place it on the track so you can step out of the car, otherwise the hole for the track goes down several feet. They tell you to watch where you are going, but the little boy in front of us still managed to step right into the hole for the track and ended up with his entire leg stuck through the hole. My son was disappointed to see how they did the magic hole effect that Roger Rabbit does, he had truly thought it was a magic hole. We had the option of waiting at the entrance to go on it again, but we had had enough of it by that time. It was a cool place to be in though, since it was a pretty warm day.

Our raft was stranded on the vertical climb for GRIZZLY RIVER RUN. We had to be walked out.

HAUNTED MANSION has stalled, but never long enough to walk out.
PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN likewise.

Back when there was a People Mover....we got stuck over Tomorrowland. We had to be walked along that track to the stairs. My daughter was freaking OUT because it was so high above the ground. She was nearly crawling the track, poor honey.

I got stuck in Roger Rabbit in May and it was pretty uneventful. We sat for about 15 minutes and they walked us out, I was near the end where Roger is making an opening for you to get out. Pretty boring actually!

Our boat got off the track on the Jungle Cruise. It was a very green skipper and he felt horrible (and wasn't very funny anyways) but he only got worse as we waited next to the hippos for about 30 minutes. Another boat came in reverse to get us going again.

So we got a front of the line pass and used it on BTMRR and stopped just before the third lift and had to walk out of that. We took our next front of the line pass with us as we went home for the evening. We weren't about to get stuck on IASW!

We got stuck on Alice in Wonderland. It was in the scene where the Queen is playing croquet. They led us all the way back down through the ride. The CM showed us a hidden Mickey that we would have never seen while riding through b/c you are going so fast.

Bassman531, I was stuck on IASW! It took them about 25 minutes before they shut the music off. Thank god they did b/c I was about to SCREAM but then it it quickly turned "twilight zone-like" b/c the dolls were still singing and moving but there was no sound. It took another 20 minutes to get us out of there! (and I was almost running!)

After you enter the Royal garden where the cards are painting the flowers, look to your left. It is on the hedge (on top of it) but not on the highest part (next to it, left side). It is red paint from "painting the roses red." You may have to ride it a couple of times to see it now that I have completely confused you! :)

Many years ago, I got stuck on the PeopleMover. I don't remember a whole lot about the experience. More recently, during the soft open for Monsters, Inc., there was a breakdown; I was right at the point where Boo is clobbering Randall.

This is a video of my friends walking off Matterhorn when it breaks down. I have posted this before, so if you have seen it, my appologies.

Reminds me of the old jokes. :)
*****
My friend was so dumb, at Disneyland, he was stuck for an hour on the MICKEY AND FREINDS escalator.
*****
Uncle Fred was so slow-witted, he couldn't find a seat in the Main Street Cinema.

(Note to those unfamiliar with the Main Street Cinema: There are approx. six screns, around the room, showing silent black-and-white cartoons, and modest raised dais in the center. There are no chairs.)
*****
Aunt Bertha was so bedazzled by technology that she got all flustered trying to make her DUMBO vehicle fly straight ahead.
*****
In STORYBOOKLAND CANAL, during an unexpected failure of a motor, one boat was stranded overnight. Not to worry. They were stranded in front of Belle's French village, and the local inn had enough beds for the seven passengers.
*****
The early days of the KEEL BOATS in Rivers of America, they were being propelled by long poles (authentic to the Davy Crockett movie). But the passengers kept complaining how their boat is the one with the non-working motor.

Over the years we've had several fun breakdowns including the People Mover, Journey through Inner Space, Haunted Mansion, and Matterhorn (very cool to walk past the snowman and through the break room before climbing down and out of the mountain!).

The best one was on Pirates. We were just floating in the main room with the ship battling the fort when some CM's came wading through the ride in fly fishing gear (hip waders). They pushed the boats down the channel until we were up agiainst the rocks across from where they are dunking the mayor. We then had do climb a bunch of steps and go out. I was pretty young at the time and don't remember much, just the realization that the water was only about 2 feet deep! Almost as bad as learning that the Tooth Fairy was really my MOM!!

i got stuck on indy, right before you enter the snake room (after the bridge) and all the lights came on. really ruined the effect, but i loved it. we were all then ecorted throughout the rest of the ride. our escort let us all touch the things as we walked through, we even got to touch the big snake. i also saw the trick to the boulder room which was amazing. very cool experience, i would recommend it......if you ever get the chance. Our escort told us it was pretty rare to get stuck on indy, so we were all very lucky.

The Matterhorn video is so impressive for how industrial it is backstage. My guess it is the pumps and water that require so much mechical (cause otherwise it is a lift hill and some breaking devices)

We broke down on BTMRR and we got to walk through the mountain. It was really dirty inside. lol. It was really cool. I was on group away from breaking down on Indy. I have always wanted to see it with the lights on.

I got to ride Indy with the lights on and it was awesome! It was during the Indy 10th anniversary party. So the attraction was running while we were riding with the lights on. Very cool! Of course none of my non-disney freak friends can enjoy in my excitement but it is one of my Disneyland highlights to this day!

Bytebear, I love how you added the insanely cheerful standing-in-line music.

I was stuck in Space Mountain several years ago. The friends I was with on that ride insist that there was a different, guitar-driven soundtrack then. All I remember is that the pod we were riding in came to a sudden stop in the dark with the climax of the very loud musical soundtrack pounding in our ears. We sat in the darkness while I conjured up images of the next pod ramming straight into us. Just as I was steeling myself for what was sure to be a tremendous collision (some imagination, huh?), the music switched off and the lights came on. We were near the end so I got to see all of the other pods (trains? sleds?) frozen on the very tall spiral-shaped track, all the way back to the very top/start of the ride.

I only had enough time to get that glimpse before we were silently released, one pod/train at a time, down the track and back to the loading station. I didn't take any pictures because I thought Disneyland was just for kids. Who would care what a broken down ride looked like?
