As I understand it, the are planning to repaint the castle once the crowns go down, but because they don't want the castle under a big tarp over Christmas, the crows are going to stay until after the holidays.

That is ok, the castle needs a pretty dress on for the holidays.

I guess some Disney rumors don't come true!

I can confirm this - I spent a couple of hours in the park this morning and looked for the crowns - but they were gone! The day before, there was one crown - the Tomorrowland one, but even that one remaining crown seems to have been removed last night.

Another site states that the castle repainting (to get rid of some of the golden trim that is left over) will not be done till AFTER the holidays. They would like to dress up the castle again this year like they usually do for Christmas. They feel that tarps at Christmas are not needed this year - we will see.

I am anxious to see how the castle looks with just the gold trim left and not all the other decorations from the 50th....

That was the first thing we noticed when we got to Main Street today -- the absence of the crowns. I was in favor of keeping them, and thought I'd be sad, but the castle still looks "fancy."

Besides, we were SO thrilled with the Halloween decorations that it was okay. LOVED it!!

My daughter is hoping her "million dreams" dream will be fulfilled -- to win the crown that had Tinker Bell on it.

I don't know how it happened, but we were in DL in early September and we didn't take one single picture of the castle!:crying:

Hmm... after not seeing the castle for so long in it's regular state, I wasn't sure if I'd miss the 50th stuff. But seeing Darkbeer's picture made my heart smile! I love the castle - even better in it's normal state. The Christmas decor castle tops them all though. I'm excited to go see the castle "undressed!"

Wow what a difference, but i like it. wasnt sure i would but i think its nice to have them off, the castle still looks great. I do like them off with the up done paint job though. are they planning on keeping the brighter paint or going back to that paler pink??

I was at the park today and noticed one hidden 50 mickey still left in the park. I don't know if it was left up on purpose, or if someone just forgot about it. But I think this is the only 50th decoration left in the park (not counting merchandise).

I will not reveal the location, for a few days in case you want to try to spot it.

I saw it too! I was about to start a new thread. A very fitting place to keep one. Hope it stays for at least until the 75th, when the park is decorated with diamonds!!! :D

It got removed last night, at least the one on the top of the Main Street RR Station tower......

Oh no! I was there last night. They should have left it up. It would have been a good tribute.

I put a before and after the 50th pic of the castle in my scrapbook, and I noticed for the first time how, well, washed out the castle was before. I really think it needs the deeper color so it doesn't blend in to the sky so much... anyone else agree?
