I got to see Annette perform with Frankie at Knott's Berry Farm around the time of Back to the Beach - their last tour. It should have been here... :)

While always being a nice looking piece of sci fi art, it's return is definitely another step backwards.

After 51 years, isn't Disneyland supposed to be moving forward from now on, especially in Tomorrowland?

So, is Rolly Crump the designer of the original stage?

And I wonder why they are going back to the original, can they no longer come up with anything new, are they cutting corners by not paying someone to design something and are just using the old plans, or are they trying to make the purists happy?

Anyone have a photo of what this new, old, stage area will look like for those of us who don't remember?

The stained glass portions were later removed, offering an opportunity for bands to be viewed from all angles.

Maybe Imagineers are finally realizing that some of the "originals" were better! I loved the Tomorrowland Terrace. Change for change sake is not always improvement. But then as on "old timer" to DL, I am probably overly nostalgic about what used to be.

Since the recent look sucks - - I say go to the best possible design available. If that happens to be 40 years old, so be it!

...And how was turn-of-the-century retro somehow more relevant to the Now than mid-century retro? What a wierd intellectualized argument this last ten years have been. Living with cat's *** ugly just because it was "new."

New or old, ugly is ugly and cool is cool. Rolly's work is cool and beautiful and inspiring, no matter the decade.

Thank you for sharing that blog link, Darkbeer. I love that blog. It is without question one of the very best Disney blogs on the net.

Wow--it's gorgeous! I assume the part with the sculpture raises up and the steps stay down?
