We experienced our first ride evac last week. I thought it was going to be on Indy when the music and jeep stopped because of the recent problems, but that wasn't to be (unrelated note, as we sat on Indy, the engine "died", then you heard the sound of it cranking before restarting which I thought was an amazing attention to detail).

Now we've all heard announcements like "please remain in your vehicle; we will resume shortly", but while riding MInc, everything stopped in the locker room set and an announcement said something like "remain in your seat, someone will be by shortly". This sounded final, especially when the lights came up and almost all of the audio stopped. It was odd sitting quietly while the only sound was what was supposed to be a little girl in a bathroom stall.

Anyway, I quickly got the camera out, and was able to capture the following images as we went to all the taxis in front of us to retrieve those riders during the walk-through version of MInc. The final image is a self portrait of me in my Krusty Burger "crew" shirt, which gets comments nearly every time I wear it. Somebody once thought I was Matt Groening; too bad the photo doesn't show how cool it is. Anyway, here are the pics.

Cheers.

Sub-Standard Letdown works, too.

I didn't realize there was a tribute. Having never ridden before this trip, I'd avoided detailed descriptions. As we entered MInc., I thought of the possibility of people standing in that entire queue to see SSL. It made me sad :crying:

My bro's a big Ariel fan, Brad, but I bet your avatar would cure him.

Cheers.

I've had to walk off of Indy before and I wish I had my camera on me. That was a real adventure and treat.

How fun!!! I was stuck on Snow White once which was a real yawn. The last trip I got stuck on Roger Rabbit and they had to come and retrieve us from our cars.

I sooo want to get evacuated from a ride so I can take some pictures like this, 'cos I'm photo crazy! I want to get stuck on Roger Rabbit, because I've always wanted a photo of Jessica, but I always seem to whizz by too fast!:(

Cool pics anyway!

best i've ever gotten wasn't an evacuation, but a minor breakdown of space mountain at WDW. so i saw quite a bit of it with some lights on (from the loading area).

me too. we had just entered through the doors and turned the corner right after you pass the mara statue. we weren't very far into the ride, but since we were the last ones, everyone else on the ride had to come get us. can you imagine all those people walking from inside the ride to come to get you off the ride. it was crazy. we had no idea what was going on. it was kinda creepy, but fun at the same time.

Don't ya just love it when the ride shuts down and you have to go through it with lights on...or backstage????:D

People who are non-Disney folk think we are crazy when explain how cool this is...

But, the best has been, by far, going through Indiana Jones when the ride shut down.
Others I have been on: Roger Rabbit, Splash Mountain...and Aventures through Inner Space (remember that one??).

My girls got stuck on Peter Pan for the longest time. They had to get ladders to get them down. My girls sad it was so sad to see the ride lit up. Kinda ruined the 'show' for them. They happened to be in the island/volcano/skull rock room when they had to climb down. :(

I was at the 10yr anniversary party for Indy and we got to ride the ride with the lights on!!! Of course you can't take pictures while you are on that ride, but I now ride that ride with a different outlook. I know where all the fans are and extras! It was a blast!

you can see the HTH hotel hanging on a rack if you look back after passing through the locker room.

i'll break my vow of silence on the SSL tribute someday. try asking a cast member.

My wife was wondering how it'd work on that one; ladders seemed the only way.

Cheers.

I got evacuated from Splash Mountain once right after you pass Brer Rabit and Brer Turtle the first time you go inside. They took us backstage. It was exciting. The funniest part was someone was videotaping it and got asked by a CM to put the cam away. One of my party members has a fancy palm pilot, so he pretended to be playing a game or something, but he was really using the video camera on it. I had to laugh at that.

Unless they've put it back recently, it's gone. I loved seeing it there, but when we went to take a picture a couple weeks ago, it had been replaced by a regular towel, and we were disappointed.

Oh, but what's the point in it being there if nobody can enjoy it?

FWIW: a photo of the HTH towel (when it was there): http://bradk.smugmug.com/gallery/1470806/9/70319489

maybe the CM tribute to SSL is gone too? that would be sad.

Imagineers really dislike CMs adding anything to attractions (traditionally speaking - on occasion, a CM added item has been welcomed). Because of how detailed everything is conceptualized and designed, it's kind of like saying 'oh, you missed a spot.'
