I hope the moderators will bear with me and let me post this in a new thread because I don't think the newer people always go back to the same thread a million times...and honestly, I don't always read a thread more than once, either.
Anyway, here is the 40 really cool things to do in DCA that I compiled with everybody's input from previous said thread. Enjoy! (Oh, and if your favorite isn't here, add it! AND, if you put something in the other thread that I left out, it's because I'm composing this for family and it didn't "fit" for us, not because it wasn't a good idea.)
Enjoy :) .
Fun things to do at Disney’s California Adventure:
)Visit the train toy store and try to squeeze as much Mr. Potato Head stuff into the box as you can.
)Draw cartoons in the Sorcerers Workshop in Animation Studios.
)Walk through the room in Animation Studios where they show sketches and sculptures of the characters and how they might have looked. It’s fascinating!
)Scope out the nifty things at the Muppet 3-d. Check under the matt at the entrance and read all the movie posters.
)Read all the posters at the It’s a Bugs Life waiting area.
)Get a snack and sit by the end corner of Grizzly River Run and watch to see who gets caught by the tricky geyser in the middle of the stream. Sometimes they get *SOAKED*.
)Get a soft serve cone way out at the back by the California Screamin’ coaster launch area, and watch the launch’s while you eat it. Some of the expressions and reactions are priceless!
)Get a photo of you in a fishing net full of fish.
)Read the signs on the bathrooms over by the mexican restaurant. (Presumably Cocina Cucamonga grill).
)Stagger across the rope bridges in Redwood Creek challenge trail.
)Make rubbings of the animal foot prints at Redwood Creek challenge trail (weird, but fun!)
)Go in the cave in Redwood Creek and put your hand on the wall to see what animal you're most like.
)Walk all the way through the Tower of Terror, and get off just before you board. You get to walk through a long, empty hallway that is almost as scary as the ride!
)Take the Mission Tortilla Factory tour, and really pay attention to the film, the visuals and how the machines work. Maseca! Enjoy your tortilla, and get some recipe cards. Make one at home!
)If it’s too hot, too cold, or too wet, or you just need to rest your feet, go see Golden Dreams.
)Play the fishing game on the pier. It's two bucks, but you are guaranteed to walk away with a stuffed fish. But you won't know what size until you get it!
)Hey, it’s a vacation, play as many games on the boardwalk as you want :p .
)Find a bench near the Maliboomer and watch people's expressions during the ride.
)All the attractions are lit up at night at paradise pier but they're not just lit up, they're 'reacting' to what's going on. For example:
California Screamin, right before a car goes into the mickey loop, the lights in the loop will turn off, then light up in succession as the car goes through.
the maliboomer lights up as the vehicle hits the 'top' and then gradually fades as the attraction winds down.
the sun wheel does a lot too, but i haven't quite figured out what its deal is yet
)Watch the Cars parade.
)Go on a mission to get a ball from Block Party.
)Look at all of the pictures and read all of the captions inside Soarin'.
)Ride Monsters, Inc. until you get Roz to notice YOU.
)See Aladdin from the last row of the front ground section. See if you can get him to wave at you when he goes by on the elephant.
)Go see Playhouse Disney at least once. Watch the kids in the audience as some of them are more fun than the show.
)Have a quiet drink (and some appetizers!) outside at the Cove Bar.
)Get a free (and amazing) tortilla at Mission Tortilla.
)Wear sandals on Soarin' Over California. Once you're seated, take them off and leave them on the floor. Apparently the wind on your bare feet feels really cool and heightens the sensation of flying.
)Make it a new tradition to ride Heimlich's Chew Chew Train. It's a riot!
)While you’re there, check out the details in Bug’s Land. It has some great details, like benches made out of popsicle sticks.
)Turtle Talk with Crush inside the Animation Studio is awesome, Dude.
)Get a churro and enjoy it on the bench in front of the Redwood challenge trail while watching the water wheel of GRR.
)Have a meal at the Wine Country Trattoria. Possibly one of the best kept secrets in the park. Sit down dining service and, of course, wine ;) .
)Take a picture in front of the waterfall area along the GRR trail.
)Spot the markings on the ground in Condor flats. They are laid out just like a real airport and going in all of the correct directions.
)If there is a blues band playing visit Rita's Margaritas and enjoy them for awhile.
)See Seasons of the Vine. If you ask, you may just get a private viewing.
)Look for the cats under the train engine. They come out at night.
)Get a sliced caramel apple from ????
)Take pictures. Lots and lots of pictures!!! Then you can scrapbook when you get home. (It'll make Adrienne very, very happy :D)
