Oh My Goodness! These are FANTASTIC! Tom - any way to get larger sizes? PM me if possible. Terrific job!

I agree!! Amazing pictures! When we were there a couple weeks ago, I caught the Mickey shot, but the castle was so blurry it kind of ruined it.

Great shots!

BUT - I was also there on the 16th, and it looks like we have pictures with the same POV, maybe similar time. (Before pyro at Toon Town)

Do you take your pictures with a small/medium sized tripod, and put it on a flast surface, say the top of a trash can? If so, I saw you at the Christmas Tree in Toon Town. If you are/were the guy, then I was the one with the camera on tripod with a black fireworks jacket on.

To wit: Your shot:

My shot:

Yours has the lamp-post in the upper left of the shot, so you had to be behind where I was shooting from. (Hmmm - mine is quite dark. May have to fix that.)

Night time Christmas pictures from DCA, Disneyland, and other points. (http://www.thecalderwoods.org/tom/DLand-071218/index.html)

Also persuing my goal of trying to take pictures of the Mickey in the fireworks from other vantage points that you will recognize, but may not have thought about.

I've been trying to capture the Pyro Mickey (so to speak) using reflections. I love the way fireworks play in the water. (See previous gallary of the Mickey in the Rivers of America) (http://www.thecalderwoods.org/tom/DLand-071128/index.html) This time around, I stood on the Monorail platform. At the very west end there is an elevator for handicap access to the Monorail. I stood over there and captured more reflections but this time off of the Lagoon.

Other rather unique viewpoints also included. (I love playing with extended shutter times.)

Hope y'all enjoy!

Hey Tom,

That was me. I felt like making a joke that you were following us. I was using my tripod and it broke. One of the legs snapped off. You were on the train behind us and had the Nikon camera, right?

Your pictures are great. Your colors were better than mine. Some day I'm going to know what I'm actually doing. I'm still pretty bad at night shots. I just keep messing with the shutter length in my pictures and thats why I took 400 pictures. One is bound to come out. Your TT Christmas tree picture is better than mine and I love your sub pictures. I was thinking about some of the same angles that you took. Did you shoot the fireworks from the top of Innoventions?

Hey Matt!

Ha! Kinda cool! Yeah, I was on the train with my Nikon D200. I was there with my daughter, and we were planning on heading over to the Tomorrowland station when it was delayed at Toon Town, so we decided to get off there. Wound up snapping shots in that area, then wandering over to the sub area.

The pyro shots I took were from the Monorail queue. In that gallery, there is a picture of the subs loading and unloading. At the very top of the picture you can see an extension to the monorail queue platform to accomodate the elevator. I set up right there and snapped away. That night, I shot almost 400 myself. I usually shoot 3 or 4 of the same thing, letting the camera refocus/evaluate the shot, then simply choose the best one. (The next gallery I'm posting, I shot over 650 that night -- but will use some for an animation.)

We need to come up with some kind of a button or I.D. or some identifier (other than a camera ;) ) so I don't start walking up to strangers and saying "Hey, are you basset1976?" (and get slapped) or "What's your Mouseplanet handle?" (and get slapped) or something else that could cause more bodily harm. :D

You could alway get a MousePlanet button from Cafe Press and put it on your camera bag.... :fez:

True - but with the bag checks and such, I normally just carry all my gear on person.

Might work on the camera strap......

So, the first night wasn't enough -- I had to go back the following night for more pictures. (See the exchange with bassett1976 above!) When Matt shot some of his pictures over by Small World, they looked great -- so I tried it out myself. (http://www.thecalderwoods.org/tom/DLand-071217/index.html)

I've also been looking at where can I shoot reflections - and found a couple dandies. This one is my favorite. (http://www.thecalderwoods.org/tom/DLand-071217/content/_PAS0069_large.html)

I also caught the snow over at Small World. These pictures show why I think Disneyland is one of the best places to be for Christmas.

Might be going back one more time, but I just buggered the calf muscle in my leg, so I may be out of it for a while.

In the mean time, ENJOY!!!!

I am still posting my pictures from our Dec 6th to dec 14, 2007 Trip to Disneyland.

3 albums uploaded so far...
1 of some pictures of Christmas at Disneyland
1 album of Disneyland Reused
1 album of Country bear Jamboree Tribute in Winnie the Pooh Ride.

http://community.webshots.com/album/561834137hLlPKE

I will post more as I have time. But having taken over 4500 digital pictures it will take a few weeks to finally get them all checked out and updated in order.

Have fun for now and for those of you lucky ones heading down to DLA look for these and if you find other tributes and reused ride stuff, post it and let all of us look for these treasures on our next visits as well.

Here is a link to a photo showing the Hidden Mickey inside the Haunted Mansion Holiday taken during our trip there last month December 2007, enjoy. It is almost direct center of picture made of snow.

anyone else discover any 'new' or even 'older' Hidden Mickeys?

http://daduckfan1955.smugmug.com/gallery/4098605#238922042

I am moving my pictures over to Smugmug so if you visit this link you might find some 'raw' pictures that are blurry and/or out of focus or too dark in with the albums, but within time I plan to clean them up. I plan to keep the pictures up at webshots as well.
I just like smugmug's options and online storage.

After some illnesses and holidays got in the way, my hubby and I were finally able to finish getting our photos of the Jane Seymour Signing Event and the Candlelight Processional with her on 12-2-07 put into a slideshow.

Here are the pix of the Main Street Candlelight Processional Stage, before and during the Candlelight Processional:

We're getting ready to go back to Disneyland in less than a week and are starting to get really excited. I've been looking at trip reports and thought I would share the video from the last time we rode space mountain back in 2006 (gawd, i cant believe its been that long). This is what happens when you weigh too much (collectively) and get diverted backstage. :)

Mrs. Bassett and I went down to DLR today. The weather was perfect. It was 68 degrees and a bright blue sky for most of the morning. Then a few whispy clouds started creaping into the sky. I got as many pictures as I could with the blue sky. Too bad that it has to go away again for a couple of days.

Enjoy!

we made it for valentine's day! kinda late in the day (around 3pm). it was raining kitties-n-doggies in SD, but nice and sunny in LA! but still very chilly!

most important was for me to get a photo of lunar new year mickey! he was sooo great! i said, "i just want a picture of you!" and in little shuffle footsteps comes right up to me and my camera! he came so close i thought he'd run me down...i stopped him by grabbing his arms! and he shuffles back. then he does it again! and his CM says, "what did i tell you about personal space?! now go back there and give her a nice lunar new year pose!" and he goes back and gives me the cutest kick pose! oh, and before that when he was coming out he was peeking at us through the door! then he played hide-n-seek with a little boy running around the lunar new year set up! :)
