If you're looking for some pretty pictures and something of an update or the park to start your Monday "Day without a Latino", you're invited to come look at this week's "Photo Update". While the pictures aren't necessarily breaking news, there are some rather good ones, I think.

WE'RE NOT WORTHY! WE'RE NOT WORTHY!

These are the VERY VERY best shots I have seen in a long time! Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking pics of Splash Mtn. I have so many desktops I'm going to use over the next several weeks. Of course the first one I pulled was Sully, but then I saw the outside of Splash, then all the Fireworks shots! Then the one of Sorcerer Mickey at the end of F! Oh my, it took my breath away!

Your photography just gets better and better, DaddyB! Thanks so much for sharing your talent with us. BIG BIG SMILES THIS MORNING! :D :D :D

A mod changed the image to a link because it was 38k in size, and thus shattered the Mouseplanet rules for inline images. Sorry for eating up anyone's (including Mouseplanet's) bandwidth.

So to clear up any confusion, you can

As always, love your updates and photos. I want one of those POTC t-shirts, so cool! AND that playset, is just adorable. I see one of those coming from Delivears, for my 3yos birthday, if I don't get to the park for a solo trip before July 4th (his birthday).
I enjoyed the photos of the set up taking place for Fantasmic!
Your fireworks photos are, as always amazing.
Between your shots and the ones that Darkbeer takes, I can always get my Disneyland fix! THANK YOU!

I've said it before and I'll say it again... Thanks for the great pictures! It's so nice that you actually take the time to get good photos, instead of just a thousand random pics as you're walking. Plus it makes your updates worth the wait! I'd rather get a good update every couple weeks rather then low quality pics posted everyday.

Thanks, but I'd like to say that my hat is off to Darkbeer who gets the news to us practically as it happens. There is just no way I could make the commitment he has made to keep us in the know! He covers more than just Disneyland, and the sheer volume of pictures he presents to us is for me, awe inspiring.

So thanks to "the other DB"

I can see that my debit card will be getting a workout in that area of the shop with POTC merchandise!

Thanks for the photos!!!

Thank you so much, the pictures are just great.

Hoping the pirate store will keep my little guy happy, we are going wed-thurs and he keeps saying that he is going to ride pirates and sing the pirate song (2 year old boys, gotta love 'em!). Since it is closed, he is just going to be happy with a playset!

Daddy's photo update is a bit dated, I have new photos taken yesterday of the completed rehab of the Golden Dreams Building and of the new Submarine Lagoon Construction. (taken 4/30/06)

a bit dated???
Heck, they're like from almost 2 weeks ago! That's practically ancient in news standards!

Like I said in my original post:
While the pictures aren't necessarily breaking news, there
are some rather good ones, I think.

When you're putting together a 60+ photo tour with more than a half dozen desktops, it's kinda' hard to keep the 'update' fresh. I appreciate the newer pictures. I wish I could have gotten to the park this weekend to get them myself, but life happens sometimes... so thanks for the visual update to my update.

phew.. and i thought it was just my monitor that was making them appear a little yellow and faded :)

anyway, while i'm being obnoxious. i do appreciate the photos (especially the other photos of the lilly belle which convinced me to take the vip tour). if you don't mind saving me some trouble, what camera settings are you using for the dark rides? it doesn't look like you're using the flash much. or if you are, i'm buying a 580EX tomorrow. (I have a 420EX - the 580 is on the wishlist).

I don't think I've EVER taken one in the Haunted Mansion.

1600ISO
I have a 50mm lens that's got an f-stop of 1.4 (and I usually use 1.6 or 1.8) and I try to keep the shutter at about 50th of a second or better on those moving rides. I generally get the focus once or twice and the set it to manual becuase it's so dark it's hard for the cameras to focus!

good luck!

alright, i'll start with 50 and go from there, thanks. that's always the hardest part for me. and by the time you get the shutter speed figured out, it's too late.

i think i pretty much always shoot at 1600 too. i used to do 3200 but it seemed like a total waste.

I have been to the park five out of the last seven days, so I guess anything more than a week old is dated to me. I got recruited by Disneyland last week to work at the park, in either the Fantasmic! crew or the Snow White crew, but the pay was really low. I still hope to be at the park working on the later stages of Finding Nemo or the Monorail project. Here is something new that I saw yesterday at the park:

May I ask why some photos can be used as wallpaper and some can't?

I would have loved to have used the one from Splash Mountain but my computer won't let me. :crying:

I have to make do with Sulley!

Beautiful pictures! I love all the fireworks shots! Especially since you managed to get some with no people in them!

Thanks for sharing! :)
