I think they should replace the old HND building in the backlot area with a Sci Fi dine in like they have at the Studios, then put Philharmagic in the old millionaire building. This would greatly improve this area of DCA:)

I would rather see them come up with some truely new things, then transplant more things from other parks. I think if DCA is ever going to be a great park on its own, it needs some great things that you can only find there.

I have an idea.
It is NOT in keeping with the "theme" of "California" as DCA is "meant" to have.
But I will throw it out there, and see if anybody salutes.
*****
I'd like a theater where they show Disney movies, all day long.
If I were king of DCA, I would turn the building WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE, or turn the buiding HOLLYWOOD AND DINE, into a movie theater.
*****
It would show, for example:
1. Old Yeller
2. The Living Desert
3. Blackbeard's Ghost
4. The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes
5. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.
6. 20,000 Leagues Beneath the Sea
Etc.
You know what I mean.
On rainy days, it would be great.
On hot days, it would be great.
There is enough backlog of Disney media to turn one building into a DISNEY CHANNEL.
Nothing wrong with that.
During Christmas, it would show the old MICKEY MOUSE CLUB Mouseketeers (Annette Funicello) seasonal shows.
We could have DAVY CROCKETT festivals, or equivalent FESS PARKER festivals. (See DANIEL BOONE.)
Or KURT RUSSELL festivals.
Or ANNETTE FUNICELLO festivals.
("How to Stuff a Wild Bikini" is not a Disney film, per se, but a festival's a festival, no? Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more, squire.)

Now why would we want to go to Disneyland to watch movies. I dont know is most people would be willing to give up 2 hours of the day to watch a movie. And movie slike that the only one I like is Old Yeller, and i own it.
I think they should just take out Muppets because it really is not the great. "It's Though to be a bug" is great. They should combine the 2 bulildings and put in a ride.

Hollywood & Dine isn't even an onstage location anymore. It's now a candy kitchen and probably will never leave it's present backstage location status again.
.....unfortunately!
Just one more place on property for Disney to make even more candy is definitely more important than having even more things for DCA guests to do, see and experience!!
Eh, Disney??

Hollywood and Dine is also still used for Special Events such as corporate picnics and stuff.

There should be a sit down restaurant back there. All the eateries in that part of the park are walk up to-go type food places.

Man, that is a GREAT idea, and it would barlely cost Disney a dime, and it would eat a ton of people during the summer, especially if it's air conditioned. It would be way more interesting than Great Haircuts with Mr Lincoln, and presumably more interesting than Golden Dreams (I've never seen that one or met anyone who has). Heck, a movie theater would be less of a waste of space than some of those DCA rides like Golden Zephyr. I can't see any negative aspects that aren't tremendously outweighed by the positives, especially since the entire thing could be run by a couple CMs, and you wouldn't need much maintenance like for an attraction. It's going to be years, if not decades, before DCA gets filled-in with attractions people love, so this would be a great way to take up space in the meantime. If they showed movies and old TV shows you can't see anywhere else, or can't get on video, it would be even better. If you saw a movie you liked, you could buy it in the movie-themed gift shop on your way out.
Sure, not everyone would want to spend their time in a movie theater at Disneyland, but I also don't understand why people would want to line up for hours to watch parades. Or cheap theme-park versions of boring TV game shows.
The accountants would love it too. Not only would it be cheap, but it could cross-promote Disney Channel. That's Comcastic!

It most likely won't happen because...
A) Disney wants you to buy their movies, not watch watch them for free.
B) It is a waste of space for what could be a good attraction.

With all due respect - probably not a great idea to take up major space at a theme park showing old movies. Right now, with Monsters, TOT, Turtle Talk, Muppets, Aladin and more there is probably more to do in Hollywood Backlot than any area of DCA. Attention and $$ should be spent elsewhere - IMHO.

I agree. I think a 50's dinner would be fun.

I don't see that happening.
They took OUT "Hollywood & Dine" and its 1950s feel.
They took OUT a sit-down "bistro" featuring soap opera themes.
They supposedly had calculated that people would sit down for their meal.
They were wrong.
Twice.

Interesting. I didn't know what the venue was like. It's been closed everytime I've been there.
