Both LaughingPlace and MouseInfo have reported that the Sub Lagoon will be filled with water next week, maybe as early as Monday, April 9th.

The reason that the Sub Lagoon will be filled is to allow them to move the Subs out of the cavern underneath the Autopia tracks. Since the Subs are actual floating vehicle on a guide rail (similar to the Mark Twain or the Columbia) and have no wheels, the easiest way to move them is to get them to float, and then use a boat to move them (as the motors are not operating, and will be replaced). The roof of the cavern prevents the use of cranes, and the tight layout of the caverns prevents and other type of lifting equipment.

The Subs will be brought out to the Main Loading area, plus the side rails next to them (where the "extra subs" are parked during operation). This will allow them to use cranes to change out the motors, plus do other major work with better access than the cramped caverns.

The lagoon is scheduled to remain filled for about 10 days, then drained to allow work to continue.

Most of the current work is being finished up, and they can move whatever they need to to the old Motor Boat Cruise area, which has become part of the work area, to keep dry during the next couple of weeks.

This also will open up the caverns, so they can start working on redoing the entire building to hold the new set features.

They have already poured the concrete for the loading section, and just finished up the new decks for the CM's in the loading area, so that area is pretty much ready to go (And they were welding the tracks in that area this week).

The Official opening is scheduled for May, 2007, but Al Lutz over at MiceAge stated that soft openings might start as soon as February (If everything goes smoothly, and stays on track).
