View Full Version : Memorial Brick?

My cousin just recently & unexpectedly passed away. Both her and I were/are HUGE Disneyland fans. I have always wanted to purchase a brick in the walkway for my daughter and I, but with the recent passing of my cousin, I have decided to get one for her instead and buy the replica for her husband and her sons (ages 15 & 11) who she took to DL on a regular basis.

I thought I remembered seeing bricks with some sort of memorial on them. But when I requested an order form from Mouse-Delivears, there didn't seem to be a way of doing that. It says that there can be a name, a city, and only one date on the brick.

I guess my question is, How would you do this for a memorial brick? Should I just do her name and birthdate?

Thanks!!

They say they don't do memorials. So don't do a memorial.

Who says it's a memorial? That looks like Joe came here and bought a brick.

I think buying a brick and a replica for her family is a wonderful idea.

The brick itself will be the Memorial...not what is written on it...her name, date and city will be enough for those who don't know her, for those who do, there probably would not be words enough anyway.

(Side note....I bought the wooden replica and thought it looked "richer" than the acrylic...but just a personal preference I guess)

You can buy a brick for any number of reasons, but you can't specify 'in memory of' on the brick.

A dear friend of mine passed away several months ago, and her family/friends decided to get a brick with her name on it because she loved DL. I think it's a lovely idea.

So, yes, it's done, but the reasons behind individual bricks remain personal. The only exception that I know to this are the 'wedding' motif bricks at the walkways at WDW, with bride/groom/wedding date engraved on them.

Thanks for the feedback :)
So what date did those of you who purchased a brick for someone who passed away use? Should it be her date of birth? Or the day she passed away? Also, what logo did you guys choose?
Thanks again for the responses :)

You don't have to have a date at all, if you don't want one.

My family has a brick, and all that's on it are our first names!

I am so sorry for you loss.

Just an idea, but was there a special trip you two took to Disneyland? If so maybe you could put that date down. Remembering a great time you had together.

If you are a Disney Visa card holder, they are offering a brick for 20 percent off.

Her name and date she passed away is all you need.

Will they allow that? If so, that's a great idea too.

When we saw our brick for the first time this past January, there were a lot of bricks with names and dates. Ours has my daughters first and last name on line one, my first and last name on line two, and our hometown and state on the third line. Lots of choices. You just can't have a memorial tribute, such as "In Memory of..." or "We Got Married in a Fever..."! We have lots of pictures of our brick, and the surrounding bricks contain a mix of names, dates and places...

In 82 days go to City Hall and ask for the brochure. That's what we did and our brick is supposed to be laid sometime in May ...

I just did that for my son who died, put his date of birth. He was named after Disneyland so it seemed like the ideal thing to do. They never questioned it at all.

Can I have a brick that says, "Miss Parkinglot"?

I wanted to get a brick when I take my girlfriend down but we leave in like 60 days. How long after ordering does it usually take for them to lay the brick in Disneyland?
