What hotel is the absolute closest to DL (Walking distance wise)? Also, is there a stroller entrance or do they have to be folded up and passed over the turnstile? (I've never brought a stroller in before.)

hi there! there are gate openings for strollers and wheelchairs, so you can just push them right in.

as far as THE aboslute closest -- there is the Desert Inn & Suites (not THE closest, but one of the three or four closest) - I think the others are Park Vue Inn, Best Western park Place Inn, Tropicana Inn - there will be others along shortly that can tell you for sure.

My parents are staying in the Anaheim Fairfield Inn next week and it advertises they are across the street from DL main gate.

The absolute closest is the Best Western Park Place Inn & Mini Suites (http://book.bestwestern.com/bestwestern/productInfo.do?propertyCode=05470#null)mentioned above. It's driveway is literally right at the crosswalk into the parks.

The Desert Inn & Suites (http://www.anaheimdesertinn.com/)(NOT to be confused with the Desert PALM Inn (http://www.desertpalmshotel.com/), which is on Katella around the l-o-n-g block from the gates) usually has very good rates and is almost as close.

That is deceiving for them to say that, as they are not directly across from the Main Gate. They are a ways down Harbor, towards McDonald's.

We loved staying at the Fairfield and it is probably the closest we have ever stayed. Large clean rooms freshly decorated and quiet. My only complaint is they do not serve breakfast. We were not impressed with the high prices at Mimi's Cafe either.

We stayed at the Grand Californian, and although it may not be the absolutely closest, it was very easily walked to the entrace, as you have the pretty lights/scenery through Downtown Disney, and neither our 7 year old no our 2 year old in the stroller gave us any concerns about the distance (which wasn't much).

The Grand Californian is also the closest walking distance to California Adventure, since there is an entrance to California Adventure through the hotel.
