As I was thinking of how nice it would be to live a little closer to the DLR, a question arose from my head.

I would like to know where all of you MPers commute from to get to DLR including the time it takes and how often you visit DLR ?

For myself, I live in Las Vegas and must drive about 3.5 hours to get over to DLR. It's not a long drive really, but it can get a little annoying. I go to DLR about 5 to 8 times a year.

I live about 87 miles from the DLR, takes us about 1 1/2 hours to get there. :)

I travel from Torrance which is about 25 miles as the crow flies or about 30 via the freeways. My best time is 35 minutes, but that was when I left my house at 7:00am on a Sunday (last Sunday, as a matter of fact.) It normally takes me a little under an hour to make the trip.

Distance: 129 miles (we are at the very North end of the SoCal AP zone right near Morro Bay)

Drivetime: about 3.0-4.5 hours on the way down (3 hours on Sunday morning ... leaving home about 6am, 4.5 hours on a Friday leaving home at 6:30am), 2.5 hours on the way back if we leave at 10pm.

I live in Fountain Valley, and I work in Costa Mesa. That boils down to around half an hour of travel time.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area...on the Peninsula (somewhat near Stanford University).

My commute is 6 hours or so...on good weather days. We go about 3 times a year or so. Some times more...sometimes less. Depends on if we have gone other places (like WDW...or Disneyland Paris<-..that was a rare one though).

I wish I could go more often like everyone else.:( But, alas, I cannot.

Dave Z,

You've given me an idea about avatars.

Should someone want an avatar, they could simply include it in the body of their message .... perhaps towards the bottom, like a signature.

I am in New Zealand, so it's a 12 hour flight (and then some) for me to get to DLR. Needless to say, I've only been once, but trip #2 is fast approaching - this August (and I can't wait!)

Thank goodness for the 105 Freeway. Its construction cut my cummute from Culver City to Disneyland to a ripping 35 minutes on a weekend morning (with a 45-50 minute return trip).

Before the 105, my outbound commute was 50 minutes minimum. Keep those new freeways a'comin.

I live about 3 miles northwest of Disneyland. near the intersection of the I-5 and the 91. My commute takes anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes, depending on traffic. I go to Disneyland basically every day but oftentimes, it's just to work, which is fine with me.

When I lived in Madera, I was about 267 miles (thank you, Yahoo! Maps) northwest of Disneyland and the whole trip took exactly 4 hours, if traffic conditions were good (and the speed limit was observed :D). As a result, I only visited Disneyland a couple times a year.

I live in Modesto and it takes about 6 hours for us to get to DL. We stay in Harbor City when we are down and it takes us about 30 minutes to get to DL. We try to make it down every couple of months but haven't been since Jan. so I have to get this off my chest....ONE WEEK FROM TODAY I WILL BE IN DISNEYLAND!!!! Yippee! Ok, thanks for humoring me...:D

I live in the redwoods, north of San Francisco. 10 hours to Disneyland. We usually only get to go once a year.

I also live in Vegas, but I stick to a solid 80 mph - takes 4 1/2 hours (1/2 hour of that is getting from Summerlin to the spot where the 215 meets the 15 south of the strip though.)

About 20 minutes from my door in Long Beach to the Parking Garage. Another 15 to get from the garage to the River Belle for brunch. :D

I used to know the exact mileage, something like 842 miles. If we leave here at 7 PM and drive straight through, it's like 14 hours. We get to DL at 9 AM. The last three trips we've flown, but I think we'll start driving again next year to cut costs. It's actually almost easier with three kids to drive! :) And I really love that drive--the moon shining on Mt Shasta, getting so excited at Sacramento, then realizing there's a heckuva long way to go, the desertedness of Barstow, the Grapevine at dawn--that's when I get WAY excited. By the time I've passed my tenth In N Out, I am wide awake again! Okay, now my heart hurts a little. I want to be 5 minutes away........:(

Sacramento to Barstow to the Grapevine?? That's quite a detour! Or did you mean Bakersfield?
