If you walk all the way around Disneyland through all the lands, how far in miles would you think you would have walked?

A CM at DLP once told me you easily walk 8 km per day at DLP. I am sure I walk more, because I go in commando-mode, and then you just "do" more.

So who's actually worn an odometer in the parks?

Edited to add: Oops, I mean pedometer. Never post before coffee!

My friend and I have worn a pedometer around the parks a few times. We usually ended up walking around 9-13 miles per day, including hopping between the parks and walking to our hotel. I have no idea how much it would be to just make one loop around the parks. Isn't there a walkathon type thing that goes through the two parks? Is that 1 mile?

We used to wear a pedometer to DLR and WDW to track it. Results varied wildly. Some days it was 7-9, others it was 15-20. Depended on the day.

It's interesting to note that Walt Disney planned Disneyland so that each guest would not have to walk more than a mile.

A CM at the World of Disney store once told me that the store was 3/4 of a mile in length. He said he had lost about 10 pounds working there from walking from end to end. I know some of the TDA employees like to walk the perimeter of the park on their lunch hour. It takes them about 30 minutes to walk the entire loop, so I can't imagine the park is really huge mile wise inside.

There is no way that the World of Disney is 3/4 of a mile in length. That would be equivalent to the length of eleven football fields (with end zones) end to end.

Edited to add: I seriously doubt the store is longer than 1 and 1/2 football fields in length. If you look on google earth, it looks like you might be able to squeeze the World of Disney store inside the field area of Anaheim Stadium.

Grundler you're probably right, I bet it just felt that long to the CM.:)

Just measured on Google Earth. It is about a 1/2 mile from Disneyland Drive (west side of DL) to Harbor Blvd (east side of DL) so the park itself is not even 1/2 mile wide. So I'd have to second Grundler's post. It's not even close to 3/4 mi from end to end

3/4mi = Minnies House in toon town to the Sun Wheel in DCA (Straight Shot, as the crow flies) That would be on big store!

It probably takes the same amount of time to walk from one end of World of Disney to the other as it would take to walk 3/4 mi without any traffic (Especially right after Disneyland closes)

I've tried the pedometer but the darn thing turns off when I'm in line (it thinks I've stopped walking) and if I don't remember to check it there goes my mileage.

However, I've been up to over 5 miles before I lost the reading and we have 2 people with mobility issues so we don't do a lot of back tracking. I'd hate to know what we actually walk in our average visit!!

OK, I don't understand that one, can someone explain?
(and I don't wear underwear, but "lingerie", big difference! ;) )

1 mile = 1.667 km (is it "." or ","? it's 1 km and 667 m)

I've worn my pedometer occassionally when I'm patroling the park after closing. I know that looping from Main St to Tomorrowland through Small World mall around ToonTown and back to the castle is just under a mile. It really surprised me that was all it was. I guess though when you're repeating the same loop over and over for 8 hrs though it adds up.

1 Mile = 1.609 Kilometers
1 Kilometer = .621 Miles

*AND* 1.609 Kilometers is the same as 1 Kilometer and 609 Meters since a Kilometer is 1000 Meters

Sorry, it must be an American term.I will explain. "Going Commando" means not wearing underwear.

Oh, I see...
thank you for the explanation!

hehe, I do wear underwear... nice lingerie... because I wore white linen pants when I last visited Disneyland, and after they get wet on Splash or GRR... hehe! :D

You are braver (and no doubt much less clumsy)than I am. If I wore white in DL, I would be sure to spill something on myself as soon as I walked in the Main Gate. My gothiness is not the only reason I wear mostly black.:D

I saw an unfortunate young lady coming off of Splash last summer who chose to wear white and go commando. Her friends were laughing at her, but she looked mortified. Poor thing.

LOL!

I have "better" pictures for that... but I don't think they are appropriate for a Disney-board! :D
