Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone here shoots photography at Disneyland. In a serious way. Not just for a family photo album, but more like a hobby. Like do you ever go to the park just to get some shoots? and maybe a ride, but photography is %70 why your going? Well I have a few questions. I wanted to start using a tripod since i only go at night time and wondered if anyone else has and what there experiences were. Did they ever get stopped by a cast member for using a tripod in a walking area? also, has anyone shot photos after the rides have closed. say the park closes at 11pm, but we all know main street is still open for an hour longer. how long would it be ok to roam around the park after the rides have closed until we should start heading back to main street. Cause during that time is a great time for photography. but wondered how long its ok to stay behind.

Thanks for any input.

Brett Garrett, aka DaddyB (http://www.visionsfantastic.org/daddyb/2005_11_21_Update/11_21_Update.htm) is the guy you want to talk with.
He has more photos of an empty park, at night, than all others I've seen combined.

Security starts to sweep the park after closing, so you probably have some time to take shots, but you will be strongly encouraged to move along.

 Darkbeer is also known for quite a few great Disney pics. :) This thread http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=45650&highlight=tripod talks about using tripods at the park.

I'm a pretty serious photographer and have thousands of pictures from DL and DCA. I tried to take a tripod in once, but security wouldn't let me. I have seen people with tripods in the parks before, though. They usually have small, light ones where mine is a large, quite heavy, pro kind of tripod. I'm assuming that's why I was stopped. Or, maybe it just depends on which security member you get at the tents. I should try again sometime.

I believe the post was addressing serious photographers.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I did email DaddyB but he never replied. that was about a week ago. I actually have brought a tripod thru security several times, but never used it. Was kind of nervous to. But then 2 weeks ago, i finally did and my photos were amazing. Post card quality. I took 8-15 second exposures. I really would like to continue but just wanted to get some advice before i did.

I did see a guy with full size tripod around his shoulder in Disneyana. So I guess full sizes are ok. I use this wonderful compact/full size tripod. It folds down to 16 inches but extends to 74. Security never gave me issues when they saw it in my bag. I cant really use a short short tripod cause my lens is a 24-70mm 2.8. its a heavy sucker and will tip the shorty's every time. hehe..

well i will just keep on shooting with care. I wouldn’t set up the tripod in a busy area. Not at all. Only in emptyish area's. So i hope ill be fine.

Hey, look at these cats that i found at DCA near the Fortune Cookie shop.

Perhaps OrbitalPunk you might try emailing (or PM) me again? I don't recall your email, and I DO try to answer questions (again, see the post in that other topic).
