The new Santa float was in the Christmas parade. I think the float goes well with the parade.

A few pictures (http://www.mouseinfo.com/forums/showthread.php?p=482921#post482921) of the new float can be found here

Uh-oh, another downgrade. :(

Everything gets downgraded/downsized.

Compare that with last year's Santa with the flying sled:

Yeah, and Santa doesn't say 'Merry Christmas' in a bunch of different languages either. :)

So any idea why they got a new float? My understanding is that this parade is on its last legs. Why spend the money on an old parade?

I also noticed that the Genie was driving much less 'erratically' this year. :(

...and yes, I remember why...

My guess is that either the original float was beyond repair, or they found enough money in this year's budget to get one brand new float, and plan on doing the same in future years. I remember our poor Fun House float in the Pinocchio unit of the electrical parade actually lost the spinning pool ball piece on the back one night and had to be dragged to safety...now that's what I call being on it's last legs!

It doesn't look downgraded/downsized to me.

And that decade old Santa float(which was built how many years ago?), that was only just another left-over from the Very Merry Christmas Parade was long overdue for replacement.

The new design is very nice, and isn't an exact copy of the last one, but then simply making another exact copy of the Santa float wouldn't involve any imagination, would it?
