My goodness, that is a gi-normous tree!! I have seen it the past 2 years but I never really "got" how big it is until you provide us with a photo! I am just about sick to death of that chicken head, I may take my kids to the movie now just cos I don't think I could look at him anymore. Just seems creepy and like he is lurking. Was it DaddyB who said it looked like he was "relieving" himself? Cos I agree! Hope it is gone before we get there. Any news on when they might take it down? Also, if I were take pictures in front of the CA letters, would the chicken be in the photos? <sigh>
Thanks for the photos!

when do they start decorating for the holidays? Any chance I'll see anything from 11/7 - 11/11?

Maybe I'm mistaken, but isn't Disneyland a no-fly zone? Who was skywriting over the park?

Parts of New Orleans Square already are being decorated, see my photo update from Friday.

You will see more and more stuff each day as they get ready for the official start on November 11th....

Disneyland is not a no fly zone. Restrictions, however, require staying at least 3,000 feet up.

Yes, though I have heard of two dates it might be moved to Town Square, either November 1st or the 11th... but they could do it anytime in between, since EVERYTHING is subject to change at Disney...:fez:

Disneyland is not a no fly zone. Restrictions, however, require staying at least 3,000 feet up.

CNN's website said this: "The new regulations in effect create a no-fly zone around Disney World in Orlando, Florida and Disneyland in Anaheim, California. Unless pilots are granted specific exemptions from air traffic controllers, no flights are allowed within a 3-mile radius around the parks or below 3,000 feet."

That article was published in 2003, so maybe it was temporary, or maybe the skywriting was more than three miles away?

Sorry to get off subject, I'm just curious! :)

And thanks Darkbeer for the great pictures (as always)!

Stupid question: Obviously it's a real tree, right? So how on earth do they keep that thing alive through January? Or do they change out trees periodically?

It is basically a "real" tree, but it has been filled with preservatives, and has had branches added to make the tree more full.... The same tree remains until the end of the year....

Not stupid.. I was thinking the same thing.

Thanks Darkbeer for keeping us updated. Some of us (ME!) can't make it to DL at Christmas this year, and I SO appreciate all of your photos. :)

OOOOOOOOOHH!! I CAN'T wait till the 15th!! I love Disneyland at Christmas time, and when it is decorated for the holidays!! So "cozy", but it also makes me want to spend like crazy.

I thought it was a fake tree, that they just sprayed with pine smell.. good to know, now I can tell everyone that it is in fact a real tree, sprayed with preservatives, and filled in. The whole pine scent theory didn't make sense to me, but it was the only way I thought it would work, since Disney seems to make pretty much anything work.

Thanks for the pictures!!

I think the bigger the treee the easier it is to keep "alive" or at least not dried into something that will be a blazing inferno. The real tree they put in at Fashion Island is even bigger and still looks good at the end of the season.

My cousin and I saw that when we were in Yorba Linda driving into Disneyland. It said, "txt McFlurry to..." then we never saw it completed. Thanks for sharing the link!
