What are some simple snack items that you usually bring into the parks and that hold up well in a backpack (that dont get crushed or smashed)??? Any great ideas that your whole family loves?

Energy bars and baggies of nuts and pretzels wouldn't smash easily.

Granola bars, fruit snacks, pretzels. I bring little ziplock baggies so if we get popcorn, I can divide it in bags for the kids to each hold his/her own bag. We've also been known to bring peanut butter & jelly sandwiches.

I like nutra-grain bars or granola bars, or small boxes of cereal. :) Neither are very messy...

SCUBabe... What kind of frozen pb&j sandwiches? Are these something you make ahead of time and freeze, or are they sold in grocery stores premade & frozen. I was planning on making pb&j's, but have never seen frozen ones... Where do you find them?

Smuckers makes frozen pb&j sandwiches called "uncrustables'. My grocery store has them in the frozen foods department.

I make pb&j or pb&honey on a small flour tortillas and roll them up. I can fit quite a few into a quart size ziplock baggie. These are great for snacking on the go. We also bring fruit leather, jerky, gogurt (frozen ahead of time and let them thaw in the backpack), granola bars, etc. I try to make sure I have some high protein snacks and not too many salty snacks. Salty snacks leads to thirst, leads to drinking a ton of water, leads to WAY too many potty breaks.

Fruit Snacks, Goldfish, Trail Mix, Nuts, Granola Bars, String Cheese or Babybel Cheese.

We also bring a case of Horizons organic chocolate milk (get a case at Costco), they are yummy and don't need to be refrigerated (although they're better cold IMO).

My kids love the Skippy PB that came in a tube like Gogurt, but I don't think they make it anymore.

I went to the park this summer with my brother, sister-in-law, and their three young kids. We bought those disposable plastic containers to put all kinds of snacks into. We put the snacks into ziplock bags first to keep the containers clean for the week (or as long as possible :D )
Trail mix, chex mix, pb&j, fruit, granola bars - anything we could think of.
The plastic boxes kept things from being crushed in the bottom of the kids backpacks.

Although not a snack, but worthy of mentioning:
PACK "Wet Ones" or other similar hand wipes. They come individually packaged, are small, and are perfect for the in-line peanut butter mishap. Because when you are that close to Space Mountain you are not getting out of line to grab a napkin.. and I better not catch you wiping your PB&J hands on a railing!

Apples, teddy grahams, goldfish, cheerios
I put them in those little plastic containers with lids. They fit great in the cupholders in the stroller trays, even the parent one.

Also, for drinks, so you only to need one bottle per person (or less if they share), is those lemonade pouches that you can add to water bottles, you can just keep refilling your water bottle at a water fountain and they are so small you cvan have tons in your back pack. I am a big water snob, I hate water from a fountain or tap, but this was great. I know Crystal Light makes them and target and walmart have generics, I am not sure if they come in a non diet variety though.

Just beware that some people have been told they can't bring plastic containers like tupperware into the park - They were escorted to the locker area and watched by a security guard while they put their tupperware in a locker. I know, it sounds silly, but it's true. I haven't had problems using ziplock bags (yet.)

We've found that those "Cheez & Breadsticks" snacks in the little plastic holder holds up well in a backpack and takes up little room. It's fast to eat and you don't need the little spreader thing with the breadsticks. You just dip em in the CHEEZ. Not exactly the healthiest, but will satisfy that craving for something while your standing in the middle of a line.

Miniature marshmallows in baggies. They may not be the most nutritional snack, but they can't really be damaged.

I always take the kids snacks in the diaper bags in those little plastic containers, and have never had a problem. I could see it being a proplem if they were big containers. They really can't stop parents from bringing snacks for toddlers and babies when they don't sell the stuff in the park.
