Just for your information,
After living in LA for over 25 years I do not think I ever have heard a on radio ad for Disneyland cast member recruiting. Until last night! The ad says come work at the happiest place on earth, we have positions available in Food service, Attractions, etc.
I guess they really need new cast members.
Does anyone else remember hearing these types of ad on Radio or TV prior to this year?

Disneyland ran recruiting ads on KROQ-FM in the LA area in the late 90s, at least. I'm sure they ran on other stations as well. The ads featured surfer-dude types encouraging applicants to visit the "way cool big yellow building".

I`ve heard the ad on the radios that they are looking for cast members to work at the Disneyland resort

Andrew:
wow I had no idea Disneyland used to recruit on Kroq back in the 90's,
hmm, I guess it makes sense I was just not used to it I guess. The whole castmember hiring process always seemed like a "backstage" thing to me, hidden from the publics eye. Guess it was abit too hidden from the prospective castmembers eye as well :)

Yep, I've heard ads on KROQ and various other youth oriented stations thru the years. Of course, when I was a youth, and applied I was rejected. Sob.

Bet they'd hire you now :)

I always wanted to work there but alas, 400 miles is too far to commute to work

It is off season and they are recruiting on the radio? Well considering 2 more of my friends were fired this week for NOTHING I can see why they need more young, innocent, minds to corrupt!
If you could not get hired before this is a good time to go they will hire anything with a pulse now. It is about cheap labor not quality these days.

Really? They just send managers around and pick random Cast Members and say "Hello. You are terminated." ? That seems really weird that Disneyland is firing Cast Members without any reason whatsoever.

Any other Cast Members out there get fired today for no reason at all? Do you get a button or something at least?

Do you think they hire university graduates with an MBA who speak 5 languages?
You think I should bother to apply, and have an application interview when i'm there on vacation?

I'm willing to move halfway around the earth to work for mickey! ;-)
But I don't think I want to help guests in and out attraction all day long...

Um... so what kind of work do you want to do for them exactly? What career do you currently have? What was your last job? Marketing? Accounting? Workers comp law? Graphic design?

To be honest, I would be wary of someone who wanted to work in the hospitality industry for a company that serves people as it's core product, but who wasn't interested in being a front line host/hostess and serving those actual people.

I just saw the TV Spot for it. So... looks like Disney is serious about getting some new people.

At the moment, I am working for the IT audit department of a big multinational as a Sarbanes-Oxley specialist. The company I work for, also "serves" people, but I never worked in the front line for them.

And it is not that I don' want a job which involves contact with the guests, I just didn't go 6 years to college to help people in and out the boats of It's A Small World.

Okay. Just don't say that during your job interview with Disneyland. ;)

I was just in the park today and talking to former fellow cast members and every single one of them said they wanted to quit  Normally you have a couple that are unhappy but so many unhappy cast members is terrible. It really upsets me that they are being treated so badly.
On a possitve note the service was great today I have no complaints. I hope the guest service stays up with all the crud the cast members are going through.

By the way I would tell you why my friends were termed but if I did the managers who read these boards would know who they are and they are both filling wrongful Termination lawsuits.

I know that I don't have to say that during my job interview. But I am quite sure that most of the people with management functions did not work in the park, or maybe only during some short period. I wouldn't mind working in the park for some time, but it's not my "dream career"
(Although I wouldn't mind accompanying Mickey or Minnie all day long!)
There are also functions at the park that I would like, but well, I guess most of you understand what I am trying to say :-)

But I guess I won't get an interview at all, after all, I'm not American.

I know what you mean. I work as a "Data Anaylst" for a large school district. I would love to work at DL in their back offices. I have worked as a CM in the park before.

If I could get a job that pays enough to afford living in So Cal, then I would jump all over that.

But I would not want to spend all day at Small World.

By hour two it would be like, "Get out of the damned boat. Get in the damned boat. Sit down, shut up... Have fun"

I haven't heard any radio ads lately but I remember hearing them a lot when they were expanding with DCA/GCH. I also saw quite a lot of billboards up around that time.
