If everyone has left the park at closing?? People MUST try to stay inside?! How would they know? It couldn't be those turnstiles because kids spin those around and around..

I don't think it would be all that easy to stay in the park after closing, at least not for long. I imagine pretty much every part of the park, even the caves on Tom Sawyers Island, will be have someone going through them at some point during the night, if for no other reason than to pick up trash. I suppose you could crawl under a bush somewhere and stay quiet and motionless for 8 hours, but what kind of shape would you be in the next morning? You certainly wouldn't be looking your best, ready to spend another full day in the Park. Of course, I'm sure many people have tried, only to be escorted away by Disneyland Security, never to seen or heard from again.

Anyone remember when Luke and Laura spent the night in the Department Store?

Why would anyone want to do this? Unless it is to meet with one Disney Character you never see during op hours......a German Shepherd

Me too. But they were wearing fancy clothes in Wyndam's, weren't they? I don't see any Disney visitors hiding under a bush in a tux.

What they used to do..maybe still do... At closing, security spreads out and starts at different parts of the park far from the main gates. Then they slowly walk towards the main gates, herding everybody towards the gates. As RemainSeatedPlease said, they are very polite about it. They check all of the restrooms, ride lines, nock and cranies as they advance towards the gates. Once they've cleared an area, they don't let people back into those areas.

In the summer time, when the park is opened until midnight or later, you have a whole bunch of custodians waiting for security to clear an area so they can start their work. Once security clears an area, the "hose crew" comes out and starts hosing down all of the streets and sidewalks. There are a lot of CM's out at night, all in costume doing their jobs once the park closes.

It is pretty easy for them to see who does not belong.

PS. Everybody from So Cal, please watch the news for the next week and let us know if you hear a story of a crazied tourist trying to hide out in the park after hours.

I'm gonna guess RFID (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RFID). That "accidental" brush against your arm when you walked in? They actually planted a tiny RFID tag on you so they can tell when you leave.

What about hiding inside an attraction?

Not sure how easy it would be, but is it possible?

I'm guessing not that possible. At closing, they must put on the worklights for the custodial crew.

I have seen them poke around in the bushes with dogs sniffing out people after closing. And if you hide in the bushes you are likely to get wet in the middle of the night.

I suggest if you want to be there after closing, get a job there and work the night shift!

And CMs would be all over an attraction with the lights on, so I doubt anyone could hide. Not to mention trying to hide could put you in a place that could get you hurt.

The whole idea that anyone would want to go through that is pretty slim.

I think it would be kind of romantic, sleeping under the stars, with the castle in the distance, hearing the crickets. Maybe they keep the music playing all night....

Why should the magic end?, just because the clock says whatever.....

During the holidays, they leave the Christmas tree lit all night......or do they?

There were many times when I didn't want to leave Main Street until they turned out all the lights on the tree. Some of those ornaments glow in the dark even so, and I felt I just wanted to sleep beneath that tree, and all the critters and such.

Christmas trees have that effect on me. I've never wanted to leave them, and wanted to jump in and sleep underneath, with the deep twinkling lights.

They turn on ALL the work lights at night for the night shift. Trucks and other vehicles driving down main street and into the lands... it's not nearly as romantic as some think. Yes music does play... but I don't think it's the theme music we hear everyday.

Somewhere out on the 'net there's an article by a guy who stayed out with the night crew one time.... maybe it was a Jim Hill piece?

Maybe if you wore white pants and shirt, or all dark blue pants and light blue shirt, you could blend in with the cleaning or janitorial crew and walk around a bit... but I still think you'd get caught pretty quickly.

It would be something Disney could do... an after hours tour of the park, and probably charge HUGE bucks for it, too... but on second thought I don't think they'd do it because it'd pretty much destroy "the show".

Way back when I had to work past park closing on several occasions. I saw security doing their park sweep to find anyone that wasn't supposed to be there and saw 2 people being escorted out. The park does lose ALL its magic once the door is shut and the crews come in the park to clean/fix it all up for the following day. Work lights are turned on for the custodial crew and many have music playing loudly (non-Disney of course). I had to walk through Adventureland once and no lights were on but the music was still on and let's just say, I was extremely freaked out. A supervisor suggested that I never walk through Adventureland by myself (after closing) and go around Frontierland instead as he didn't think it was safe. NOT safe at Disneyland

IaSW CM rumors about a bum sneaking out of a Small World boat and hiding/living in IaSW for a few days or longer and lving on candy bars and other snacks he had with him. Stuff happens like that from time to time over the past 50 years I imagine. Not sure of the validity of this time honored tale/rumor.. it may just be more CM/attraction lore that has been passed down/passed around and be fake.

Sorta OT from the 'hiding inside DL' subject,
But I have also heard many CM stories about quite a few CM trysts which supposedly happened in a more than a few different places inside IaSW and also various other places inside DL too by CM's who were seemingly 'hiding out'.
Sometimes those CM's got caught and disciplinary measures have been taken. I've know some CM's who had to testify based on 'CM's getting caught' disciplinary actions by Disney. So I know at least some of those 'hiding'/other stories to be true.

But inside DL all sorts of stuff happens, a lot of unbelievable stuff based on human behaviour, the magnetism of Disneyland and the stress of being nearly perfect 365 days a year. It's not a normal place and not a normal workplace, no matter what any CM or Disney person would have you believe.

Thousands of people have hidden out over the years, people have been caught, I'm sure some people were never caught, and there are stories of some people dying/drowning from hiding out inside DL over night.

It's much safer, much cooler of ya, much more intelligent and much better overall for Mickey, if ya just all leave at the end of the day!
And come back soon, ya' hear? :D

You are freakin' me out. What did he mean, not safe?

Once long ago, 10-12 years ago there was a story/rumor of a guy who hid out after the park closed.

It was between NOS and Critter Country. The story was that some dude climbed over the fence/wall and hide in the bushes. This was in the summer when the park was open late. Sortly after closing this female CM comes walking from Critter Country towards Main Street. She was alone, and the guy jumped out of the bushes bare chested and chased after her. She goes running and screaming. Some custodians hear the screams and tackle the guy until security can get there.

I have no idea if it's true or not. But that's the story I heard while working there. After hearing that story, I always walked as closes to the River (and away from the bushes) when I walked through that area after hours.

Then again, maybe the CM who said Adventureland's not safe after closing was worried about the pigmies DL has hired to care for the animals on the Jungle Cruise. :D

well you guys are making my plans seem .. umm.. unreasonable. :(

I just know there's too much "land" to cover, too many bathroom stalls to look in, some people MUST try to stay in there. why wouldn't they?

Too bad my kids would be yelling for me.. "HEY MOM.. aren't you coming with us???"

BTW- this was back in 1994! I just assumed he thought I shouldn't walk alone through Adventureland when the lights weren't on and suggested Frontierland where the lights were on and a handful of night shift custodial CMs around.
