What is your favorite spot to take a breather, enjoy the scenery, or eat a snack?

One of the porches on Main Street has a bench and rocking chair. That's a good spot if the shade is right.

The waiting area for Tiki is actually a good spot as well, just don't go into the show if you aren't interested. It is mostly empty, shaded, has a nice restroom and refreshments nearby. Why, it ranks above many of my bachelor-era apartments.

And my final resting spot in DL would be the Disney Gallery courtyard, another area with very little foot traffic.

If you want to expand out a bit, there is a large patio on the fifth floor of the Grand Californian. I've rested up there a few times and never seen many people there. It has a view of the hotel pools, views into various hotel rooms (don't worry, most people are boring to spy on, and a decent view into DCA).

Great question :D
We like to hang out at the Hungry Bear after the lunch crowd has gone and watch the Mark Twain go by and feed the ducks.
Tom Sawyer's Island can be good if you can find some good shade and a flat rock to sit on.
Innoventions--much as I despise it as an attraction--is a good place to hang out in air conditioning and let the kids play that hopscotch game.

Alex, thanks for the tip on the Grand CA--we'll check that out next time.:)

The best spot to relax is on club 33's balconies. Its great for people watching because they all wonder how you got up there.

Of course, how many times do any of us get to go visit Club 33 on a regular basis....

I love sitting in the hub and watching people come up and look at the Walt and Mickey Statue. Some people have the utmost reverance for this statue, and some point it out and teach their children about who Walt Disney was and that he created Disneyland. When that statue first went up, some people (I have to assume they worked for Disney) would come up and just stare and almost cry. Some did. I know I did the first time I saw it. The Japanese who come and stand show the most respect for Walt and Mickey. And I get such a kick out of some who say, oh that's nothing new, it's been here since the Park opened. Shows how much they "Don't" know. It's usually a boy trying to impress his girlfriend. So funny!!

The Hungry Bear, lower level, at the back. This is a great location in the late afternoon.

Probably the best "relaxing" experience I've ever had at Disneyland, though, was a few months ago. It was nighttime, and some sort of freak mechanical issue had caused them to shut off all power to New Orleans Square. Walking through NOS with no people (they were escorting the last of Club 33's guests out), no lights on, and all the stores shuttered was VERY cool! In the dark, that place looks EXACTLY like some of the back alleys in the real New Orleans. It was lit by just the moonlight, glistening off the recently-washed (and still wet) pavement. It felt like I had suddenly walked into an old 1940's film-noir` murder mystery! I LOVED it!

When I need to "getaway" without leaving the park, I usually visit the long island of tables that sits directly under the monorail. It's kind of across from the Mattahorn, just behind the area where all of the characters gather for autographs. It's surrounded by water.

If you walk all the way to the end, you can relax on a bench that is behind a monorail pillar. From here, you can see most of the fireworks and at night it's pretty dark. No one is usually around, and it makes for a good romantic spot as well. ;)

The only drawback was the irritaing Rocket Rod sound every few seconds, but since that's gone, I can't imagine a better place to "getaway."

Here are some cool places to relax:

1. around the graveyard behind Fort Wilderness on Tom Sawyer Island
2. In the shade on Tom Sawyer Island
3. In the garden/Train station area of New Orleans Square (especially when a band is playing).
4. at the TL Terrace near the stage in Tomorrwland
5. on the back side of Big Thunder, near the Festival of Fools.
6. Toon Park in Toontown

just a few tips!;)

Well, if you want to get away from people, Big Thunder Trail is the place to go. For some insane reason, ODV decided to put a Pretzel wagon out there, and I had to work it on numerous occasions. My sales were never more than $400, because no one ever walks by you. I could have been robbed and murdered, and no one would have known until my relief came. I used to have to resort to squirting guests with my spray bottle(you have to spray the pretzels with water before you cook them so the salt will stick) just to get them to come over and talk to me for a few seconds. And its fairly shady. Also, if anyone would ever like to "hear" the fireworks, come on by. You can't see them, but you are right by where they set them off, and let me tell you, it is as loud as a gunshot or a bomb. It rattles the plastic windows out of the wagon all the time. The only drawback is that now its a smoking area, so for a short portion of the trail you do have to put up with that. Also, another good spot is the middle of New Orleans Square in front of the train station behind the fountain. Its also very shady, and you can smell the food from the French Market which smells so delicious, as well as watching the jazz bands, or feeding the ducks popcorn.

Well, it used to be the People Mover, but now I'd have to say the DL RailRoad. Or, if the line's short, Pirates--a long ride, and it's nice and cool.

No question on this one.. there are a couple nice shaded benches in New Orleans Square where you can sit back, relax, people watch, and enjoy the peace and quiet... especially early in the day before everyone charges through to HM or over to Splash.

 I can't believe we forgot the Golden Horseshoe! Head straight up to the balcony, get yourself a table, smell the french fries, and enjoy the show!

I'll agree, that is a very nice place to hang around. However, I've always wondered what that area is for. It's the only place (I think) on Main Street that isn't a shop or restaurant of some kind. Is it a storage building? Anyone know?

My favorite spot to relax is by the bridge next to Big Thunder Mountain right by the boarded up tunnel on the island. It's shady, quite, nice relaxing waterfall sounds, ducks swimming by and even some jumping fish.:D

I enjoy sitting in the Courtyard area upstairs through the Disney Gallery. It's usually not too crowded.

Some of my favorites places are:

The Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street. We love the ice cream there.

The hub at the end of Main Street. It's a great place to people watch.

The train. When our feet need a little break we hop on the train and go all the way around the park once or twice.

I was going to say the same thing. I actually used to do homework up there when I was in college.

When the mid-afternoon sun gets really hot and glary, I'd head for Mr. Lincoln. I've never seen a line there so you breeze right on in towards that air-conditioning.

And I should add to the above that Mr. Lincoln has yet to talk to me personally. ;)

Like others here - used to be the Peoplemover.

Now it's the courtyard inside the Disney Gallery. Very quiet and great place for a snack.

1. Disney Gallery courtyard
2. Critter Country/Haunted Mansion area (when not too crowded; nice and shady)
3. Bridge near Big Thunder Mountain (shady, peaceful)
4. Disneyland railroad
5. Monorail (though they will eventually kick you off)
6. Any shaded/indoor sit down restaurant (Blue Bayou, PizzaPort, Rancho del Zocalo, Hungry Bear, Village Haus)

I also like the spot overlooking where splash mountain runs by the ROA
