Steiner Leisure Announces Agreement to Build and Operate a New Spa at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California (http://www.rednova.com/news/display/?id=240912&source=r_science)

Mandara Spa, the premier resort spa division of Steiner Leisure Limited (NASDAQ:STNR), announced today that it has entered into an agreement to build out and operate a new luxury spa facility at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. This new, larger spa will replace a smaller spa currently at this venue and will increase the amenities offered at the hotel. The architecturally stunning, AAA Four Diamond, 745-room Disney's Grand Californian Hotel is within walking distance of Disneyland park and is immediately adjacent to Disney's California Adventure theme park and the Downtown Disney retail, dining and entertainment district.

The new Mandara Spa at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel will blend the hotel's distinctive Arts and Crafts architectural style with Mandara's signature contemporary-Balinese elements. The main spa facility will be comprised of treatment rooms and a couples suite accented with Balinese-inspired art and textiles. Additional features of the spa will include a fitness center, men's and women's changing lounges, steam rooms and a sophisticated "nail spa," offering a complete array of services in a single setting. A full complement of spa offerings, custom tailored for the unique Californian setting and spa environment, will be featured.

Mandara estimates that the new spa will open in February 2006.

Leonard Fluxman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Steiner Leisure, said: "Disney is clearly a worldwide icon and operates some of the finest resort facilities in the world. Disney's Grand Californian Hotel is a magnificent resort and we are extremely pleased to be able to build our relationship with Disney at this beautiful destination."

"We are extremely pleased that Mandara will operate a new luxury spa facility in our award-winning Disney's Grand Californian Hotel," said Tony Bruno, vice president, Disneyland Resort Hotels. "This spa will further enhance the Disneyland Resort as a complete vacation destination, and it is the perfect complement to the many world-class experiences that guests can enjoy throughout our Resort."

YES! I always thought they could do so much more with that spa, now it will really make staying at GCH a luxury -- looks like I'm going to have to work in a massage before the spring MA. :)

The only thing is, right now, there is no charge to use the facilities, treadmills, and such.

I wonder if, when the new Spa opens.... they'd start to charge a fee to use all that?

I wonder if, when the new Spa opens.... they'd start to charge a fee to use all that? The treadmills and weights are in the fitness center. The spa services (massages, facials, etc.) cost extra now. I'm assuming that the fitness center will remain as it is, although maybe it will have to change to accommodate the new spa.
