View Full Version : DL Resort Hotels - All booked?!
I have reservations for the Howard Johnson for our trip in October but I've been considering the GC or DH. I've checked both on numerous websites - including disney.com and our dates are completely unavailable.
I haven't been to DL for quite awhile so I guess I'm clueless but how could a Sunday-Wednesday in October be full - at all three places but I can find availability for weekends in August??
I know that there may be conventions but after researching the convention calendars for So Cal and Anaheim I can't see any HUGE conventions.
Is there any chance that rooms will open up closer to October?
Thanks for helping me - who must be clueless!

This as been brought up a couple times lately. Its unknown if Disney is just holding some rooms at this time or if because of the 50th/ conventions/ etc, they are truely full. I know that if you go to the group sales page it shows prices and doesnt mention any dates being unavailable. With how late they were/ are at getting the fall schedule up, and booking info for after new years, I wouldnt be surprised if they release more rooms soon.

Ok, I did work at a hotel, in another life (for about 5 minutes).......what happens is this: ...there may be a convention somewhere AROUND that time you are going. And, the corporate/convention reservations become "elastic"....which means the hotel will still continue to block out rooms for conventioneers......for many days after the convention ends.....just in case convention goers want to hang around, or business goes overtime. Also, they start blocking out rooms, sometimes, many days BEFORE the convention begins, to allow for set up, and early arrivals.
It happens all the time. I'm trying to book a Long Beach, CA birthday trip for the end of February. And, everything is sold out for the weekend I want. Good grief, we're talking February 2006, and not a single room to be had in lil' ol Long Beach ????
It happens. Places like Long Beach and Anaheim are extremely popular convention destinations. And, you have to take into account the days, and weeks-sometimes, before and after the convention.
There is a reason why some of us, here, book as much as a year in advance !!!!

Yup, and its just not the DL Hotels, hotels surrounding the resort are sold out also. I booked a room at the Carousel Inn about a month ago. A week or so later it was sold out.

The California Bar Exam is given in Long Beach around that time...Though it is given on a Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, many people take rooms for two or three days prior...so depending on the weekend that you want to go, some rooms may be blocked for that reason...
Just another possible reason for the lack of availability.

if you call them directly you can get a room...but online it states nothing available. I would suggest calling them.

Ah, that..... and the IECA 2006 Annual Meeting is Feb 17th-26th. The entire town of Long Beach is sold out and I can't get a room anywhere.
I'll probably end up calling the hotel I want and throwing myself on the mercy of their sales department.
It usually rains during then too. It's rained my last two birthdays. So hopefully, they'll all be rained out. Just kidding. That was mean.
I do like rain, though!
