View Full Version : How about a shuttle-type coaster in Tomorrowland?

Just got back from Las Vegas where they have a ride called "Speed-the ride" at the Aladin - this ride does a launch like the RNRCoaster at DS but then does a hard left-hand turn to parallel the Strip and then goes into a loop followed by a climb up a 200ft tower - at the top, the ride retraces its path backwards.

How about one of these rides with the launch area back in the old Rocket Rods building with the track turning left as it exits toward Main Street and following the path of the old RR track to a tower located where the old PM and RR loading zone was? No room for loop but with speed of 70mph or so going of the tower would still be pretty exciting .......

Two big benefits - would have a new "icon" for Tomorrowland and would have an engaging thrill ride to pump some life in the area.

Just being picky here, but I think "Speed" is at the Sahara.

There are two problems with this sort of an attraction.

1. Capacity

2. Skyline and the Disneyland "fantasy" or berm.

Shuttle coasters will never have the capacity that Disney needs for a major ride or attrraction.

Finally, such a tower would not work with the Disneyland skyline since a tower of the said height would be visible from almost anywhere in the park. Also, guest would be able to see outside of the park and it was always Walt Disney's intention to create a fantasy world and thus guests should not be able to see outside of the theme park.

So if you ask me its a bad idea.
