I'm just wondering.. if we have a morning flight that lands at 8:30am at John Wayne Airport, how long do you suppose it will take to deplane, get our luggage, get a taxi and arrive at DCA?

Do you think we'll be there by 9:30am?

If it's during the week, keep in mind that will be during rush hour traffic. But, yes, in most cases, 9:30 sounds about right.

The way I see it, it's the luggage carousel that's problematic. You could circuvent by doing only carry-on.

John Wayne is so small, the luggage wait is only about 10 minutes...so...you shooooould be able to make it even withing 1/2 an hour...depending on traffic!! :D

They are slow. My most recent trips I've done carry-on, but before that a wait of 30 minutes was not atypical.

just my own opinion...I flown to there three times in the last three months, and its been about 10 min. each time...the most recent being about a week and a half ago....just calls em as I sees em :D

Larger planes have more luggage and the baggage system and personnel at SNA don't seem to be able to quickly unload it. Also, later at night they have a skeleton crew, so there are long waits for bags.

We had a long mid-morning wait last October. I'm guessing it was at least 25 minutes before the first bag appeared. It was a big flight out of Minneapolis.

yep, that sure could be....I fly from Sac, so its only about 1 hr 20 minute flight., inthe morning. ..Carry on would be quicker..but I haaaaate carrying my stuff everywhere and fighting for an overhead...blech :p

If you are flying Alaska air, I would plan on it taking a little longer. With their recent changes in bagage handlers (outsourcing) seems like its taking longer and their on time rate is really suffering. Right now only 59% of flights are on time. Thats a horrible record.

It took us about an hour from landing to the DH Hotel. We arrived at about 8:00am or so on Southwest. We only waited about 10min or so for the luggage.

I'm flying next monday morning out of SMF at 7:05 - arriving 8:30 am on Southwest Airlines.

It'll surely be a Boeing 737 which has approximately 190 passengers. (I think that is all Southwest uses)

That was my flight last week, but I didn't check luggage so I was at my hotel before 9:00. Have an awesome time on your trip!
