Joe's Crab Shack is at 12011 Harbor Blvd (http://www.google.com/local?hl=en&lr=&c2coff=1&safe=off&q=joe%27s+crab+shack&near=Garden+Grove,+CA&sa=X&oi=locald&radius=0.0&latlng=33773889,-117940556,8833240130229008490) in Garden Grove. That's right about at Harbor and Chapman, just a couple of miles south of Disneyland. It's fun, the food is decent--as long as you're not a vegetarian--but be advised that the place is very loud.

Parking can also be a bit of a nightmare during peak hours.

I really miss Belle Isles, the pink shack that preceeded the redevelopement.

Parking can also be a bit of a nightmare during peak hours.
Consider parking across the street at Target, near the crosswalk. While technically against the rules, peak hours at Joe's (and the other restaurants next door) tend be hours when Target is not at all busy.

Not a big fan of their food. If you want a better meal (in my opinion) then try the Fish Market. I think the closest location is off the freeway in Irvine.

I loved their food and fun atmosphere when I was in Florida, I sure hope this one doesn't disappoint me! lol
I did learn my lesson though that when ordering calamari for an appatizer, it is actually a meal...no need to order anything else! what are some of your favorite things there? i brought my dh a t-shirt from there that had a summer to do list, thought how funny to get crabs was on it...haha for those who have never heard of the place b4. (like me, that was my first time experiencing it).

i have been to this Joe's and Newport Beach - and this JOe's has a much harder time seating people and getting them food on time. Be prepared...

If you want authentic sea food, Crab Cooker in Newport Beach is the place to go! You can go to Joe's almost anywhere, but there's only one (actually two) Crab Cookers! :)

It's not far, basically right down Harbor in Newport, but it sounds like you really want to take your kids to Joe's for the atmosphere as much as the food. So go ahead and go to Joes and have a fun time if that's what you want to do. After all you know your family better than we do. :)

The Safari Club card from Rainforrest works there too. Priority seating and discount or free apps.

If the Crab Cooker is so much better, I'm really glad I haven't hit Joe's.
I simply don't get the Crab Cooker.
