Forgive me if this has already been discussed, and please direct me to that thread. But did the park ever reach capacity today?

I'm sure the capacity will be reported in the Los Angeles Times newspaper tomorrow (Monday). Check their online edition.

Probably not. Fear of overcrowding, there were some that either didn't show up at all, or just left after the 10am dedication ceremony. Granted, it was still very crowded through most of the day, but probably not enough to make it close due to fully reached or over capacity.

It sounds like a lot of people left after a while just so they could say they were there on this big day. If people would have stayed in the park I bet it would have reached capacity but because people left earlier it didn't. I wonder how many people actually entered DL throughout the day though.

A CM told me that the gates were closed around 10:30 but it wasn't at capacity, then they reopened them.

they once had 87,000 people attend one day and on that day 83,000 were counted on POTC!!! but now i think the CM told me that they stop letting people in at 75-80,000.

I think they stop letting them in a lot sooner then that. The limit must be a little bit smaller than that.

In an 18 hour day, the most we could possibly do on Pirates is 56,000. But that would still never happen.

As on-site hotel guests, we were told we would be guaranteeed re-entrance if we left and came back if the park had been closed. When we came back from checking out of the hotel and having lunch at about 2:55 pm, we had no problems getting in and weren't asked for hotel identification.

While it was certainly full, I don't think it ever even came close to capacity. The line for pins was 4 1/2 hours long. That ate up a lot of people. The line wound from Festival Arena through New Orleans Square, past Splash through Critter Country, back past Splash, back through New Orleans Square and at one time I saw the end of the line was in front of PoC! At it's height, I would bet that line had 7500 people in it.

I was told the Park never closed for capacity. I was told it really never even came that close.

They did temporarily stop admissions around 10:30am for a very short period of time as another poster said, but that was just flow control due to everyone cramming Main Street for the morning Castle event and group photo.

Does anyone know what time they started Park admissions via the Monorail stations? I forgot to ask.

Yep gates closed at 10:30-11ish. They planned to Cap of the amount of people entering disney and DCA. Disney was 45k and DCA was 20k

I've been at the park on a day when it closed for capacity before, so I know what it feels like (possibly more than one, but one that I know about for sure). I was also at the park on Sunday (July 17), all day. It never even came close to capacity. There was always plenty of room to walk around, and we encountered short lines on almost everything we went on (Space Mountain being an obvious exception). The only real lines in the park were to get pins.

I also park-hopped over to DCA for a couple of hours in the morning, and came back into Disneyland about 1 p.m. When I did, I saw scores of people leaving. It was obvious that a lot of the people who had stayed overnight got their pins, watched the ceremony, then went home to get some sleep.

I was amazed at the number of people who went through the gates, got their ears and immediately exited. Also saw a lot of people walking out with huge quantities of merchandise early as well.

By far the rest of the week (18th-22nd) was way more crowded than the 17th.
