I've been looking into hotels for our fall trip and I'd love to stay at GCH but the lowest rate I am finding is $265. Is that pretty typical of GCH or do they have lower rates at other times during the year? Thanks!

Yes. I've seen it as low as $179 on Expedia and this fall they have rates at $199 a night for AP holders.

Every once in a blue moon, expedia has 4 nights for the price of 3 at the GCH. That brings it down.

We paid $179/night on a senior discount. They allow you to book up to 2 rooms on the discount, if the 'senior' is present at check in. This is nice if you can book adjoining rooms.

I've seen AP rates of $129 for January.

If you're a travel agent, you can sometimes get decent travel agent discounts if you have an IATAN card (travel agents, you know what I mean). The past couple of years, DL runs their "Travel Agent Appreciation Days" in the off season (usually Jan-Mar and Sep-early Nov). Rates at the GCH start at $125.00 (2 night min) and include 2 3-day park hopper tickets (yes, that's NOT a typo) and the option to buy 3 additional 3-day park hopper tickets at $50 per hopper for the rest of the guests in your room (5 guests in a room). I haven't seen anything that beats that deal yet.

For busier times, you can still get travel agent rates, but they're not as low as what I described above. For example, I got a travel agent rate of $210.00 per night for a city view room at the GCH for the first weekend in Dec.

Wow. Great deals for travel agents!

I booked GCH (through expedia) for October 17-21 for $189/night last month. Got the fourth night free so averaged out well. I called Disney to see if they could match the price with AP rates but no. I call Disney every two weeks to check on AP rates. I can cancell Expedia up until two weeks prior. So I'll go with whatever is cheaper. Also requested a room with bunk beds and view. Hopefully will be available.

One thing that I have found with Expedia is that you need to committ to the lower price when you see it! Expedia is now sold out of rooms on a couple of days in October and the price crept up! Last time I checked it was averaging $225/night.
